New Zealand Blog warns...

Socialist Labor Bosses Plan Mass Actions Across America

Should we be marking April 4th on our calendars?

Ninety-six union leaders and activists from 26 states and from "a broad cross-section of the labor movement" gathered at the Laborers Local 310 Hall in Cleveland in response to an invitation sent out in January urging them to “explore together what we can do to mount a more militant and robust fight-back campaign to defend the interests of working people.”  read the rest

These people are not going to stop until they start an all out war in the streets.  Problem is, intelligent hard-working tea party types will not be joining them.  They'll have to fight with each other. We can hope!

Libya. What's the real truth...

because we know what we're hearing doesn't even come close.

Reaganite Republican is not alone with his proposal of   Obam's Razor: "What's the Most RADICAL Explanation for Recent US Action in Libya?"

And Stacy McCain took time to write an excellent piece:  Libya: Serious or Not?

And my thoughts?  I'm busy looking around for what's really going on that no one wants us to know.  Libya is just an expensive distraction.

Is Bretton Woods II the start of the New World Order?...

What Went Wrong with the American Experiment and When?

I stole borrowed that title from Jim Gourdie, over at Conservatives on Fire, who was brought into a debate by another blogger, Brian at Frankenstein Government.  I won't tell you the conclusions either of them reached - you'll have to read those for yourselves.  Both articles are interesting and deserving of a reading.

Conservatives on Fire:   What Went Wrong with the American Experiment and When?
and
Frankenstein Government:   Critical Mass...When Exactly Did We Lose Control of Our Country?

I was intrigued by the question and thought I'd throw my views into the pot.  I'm hoping others will, too.

In my opinion, the downward spiral began about 3 nanoseconds after we became a country.  I base that on the knowledge of human nature, which isn't all sweetness and light.  Wherever good people are trying to do the right thing, you will always find people searching for power and control.  It's simply human nature.

I do believe, however, that we reached the top of the roller coaster around 1900, and started the rapid downward scary ride some time around 1960.  Beginning with our entry into WWI in 1917 and followed by WWII, we saw our society rapidly change.

A Few of the Players

A good place to begin is with Woodrow Wilson.  First elected in 1913, he was a progressive who brought us the Federal Reserve Act, Federal Trade Commission Act, the Clayton Antitrust Act, the Federal Farm Loan Act, and America's first-ever federal progressive income tax in the Revenue Act of 1913 - all in his first term. Thus began one of the largest and fastest expansions of the federal government.
Wilson was no fan of the Constitution, viewing it as out-dated and unnecessary, preferring instead a parliamentary form of government.  Like any true progressive, Wilson thought the elitists in the government should be left alone to do what the great unwashed were incapable of doing for themselves.  Sound familiar?

In 1933, Herbert Marcuse, an associate of the Frankfurt School - essentially a neo-Marxist school of thought in Germany, emigrated to the USA.  During WW II, Marcuse held many important positions with the US government, including  the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), which was the precursor to the Central Intelligence Agency.  After retiring from service, Marcuse taught at many of the major universities, including Columbia and Harvard,  and became somewhat of an icon to the hippies of the 1960's.

At about the same time, John Dewey, someone we often hear called the "Father of Education", began propagating his theories about education;  mainly that morality is situational, that beliefs should be examined scientifically, and that change in belief is inevitable and desirable.  He believed in the validity of human reason, the primacy of science, the certainty of progress, and the self-sufficiency of man.  This, of course, does not cover in detail everything Dewey believed, but be assured, his influence is still strong in the educational system, and it's not good.  Our schools continue to turn out increasingly dumber kids, because dumb citizens are easier to control.

Next is Dr. Benjamin Spock.  My mother would never forgive me if I didn't mention him and his mega-popular book Baby and Child Care, first published in 1946 just after my birth.  When I was older, she told me about reading the book and promptly throwing it in the trash heap, declaring it a "bunch of crap."

In 1969, Nathaniel Branden, an early follower (and lover) of Ayn Rand, published The Psychology of Self-Esteem, a book that became sort of a clarion call for vulnerable people, in that it enabled them to throw off the few restraints they retained after the rockin' 60's.  We still find plenty of lefties invested in this failed concept of "self-esteem" as something we need to be given rather than earned through our accomplishments.

Certainly there were many more people who had negative influences on society during this period.  It would be impossible (without boring you to death) to mention them all, so let's skip ahead to three of the most deleterious influences on the psyche of American citizens.

Modern Welfare, Public Unions, and the Pill

FDR and his "New Deal" marked the beginning of our modern welfare state.  Because of the disastrous policies of FDR, the Great Depression was extended by at least seven years.  Today, we see economic policies similar to those of FDR being promulgated by the Obama administration - with equally disastrous results.

Not to be outdone, LBJ came up with the "Great Society" during the 60's, which turned out to be not so great.  With the proliferation of the welfare state, we've seen black families deteriorate until today over 70% of black babies (the ones not aborted) are illegitimate.  They've traded their slave status on the plantation for being a slave of the government, and a herd of white folk has joined them.

In an attempt to justify his "War on Poverty", I remember LBJ saying something to the effect of "raising up the bottom one third."  Sounds fine and dandy until you realize that unless you make everyone exactly equal, there will always be a bottom one third.

Next are public sector unions.  Until the1950's, they were largely illegal.  The first U.S. state to permit collective bargaining by public employees was Wisconsin, in 1959.  Why am I not surprised?  That was the beginning of public sector unions gouging taxpayers for higher and higher wages and benefits, while union bosses began donating the bulk of their contributions to democrats who would ensure that the gravy train would keep chugging along, making it hard, if not impossible, for the average person to have a legitimate say in elections.

The third event has to do with a dream Margaret Sanger had sometime during the early 1900's.  A radical feminist, she dreamed of a "magic pill" women could take to prevent pregnancy.  Her dream came true in the early 1960's with the advent of the contraceptive pill.  Up to that time, all churches opposed artificial birth control, but Protestant churches quickly put their Good Housekeeping seal of approval on "the pill."

In Humanae Vitae,  the encyclical letter of Pope Paul VI concerning birth control he said:
Responsible men can become more deeply convinced of the truth of the doctrine laid down by the Church on this issue if they reflect on the consequences of methods and plans for artificial birth control. Let them first consider how easily this course of action could open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards. Not much experience is needed to be fully aware of human weakness and to understand that human beings—and especially the young, who are so exposed to temptation—need incentives to keep the moral law, and it is an evil thing to make it easy for them to break that law. Another effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection.
Since the majority of Catholics choose to ignore this proscription on artificial birth control, the divorce rate among Catholics is equal to the population at whole - about 50%.  An intact family, raising morally healthy children, is quickly becoming something our grandchildren will read about in history books.

Flowing from the easy accessibility of contraception, which separates sexual intercourse not just from procreation, but from any obligation of the parties involved,  we come to 1973 and Roe v Wade.  I've no doubt many pro-abortion people will argue that contraception and abortion enjoy no link, but indeed they do.  When the sexual act became distorted, the outcome was the legalization of the killing of one's child.  If the sexual act is not primarily used for the intended purpose, which is the conception of a child, then the fruits of the act become nothing more than a burden to be discarded in a trash can.

As we've witnessed, the next step is euthanasia for the old and infirm, a practice which has been legalized in many states.   In no time at all, it will probably become a duty to die for the citizens of this country .

Are We Finished as a Country?

But back to the original question of when we lost control of the country.  While most people want to latch onto the evil 60's, we can see that it all started much earlier.  I'd have to take it back to the Garden of Eden when the serpent promised Eve she could be a god.  Now who the heck doesn't want to be a god? Once thrown out of the garden and having their eyes opened, Adam and Eve passed unto their progeny a certain weakness in spirit, a propensity, as it were, to do the easy thing.

The 1950's saw prosperity and growth unparalleled by no other time in history.  People became complacent and stopped paying attention to what was occurring.   And why not?  They were, for the most part, good and moral people who worked hard and were enjoying the fruits of their labor, never expecting that the people they elected may have had other ideas.  Their mistake was forgetting that there is such a thing as evil and evil never rests.

This country is definitely teetering on the edge of a very steep cliff.  What gives hope, real hope - not the phony "the government will take care of you hope" of our current president, is the organic movement called the Tea Party.  People with morals and intelligence have been awakened to the forces that seek to destroy us, and are fighting to stop and reverse the destruction.

The battle lines have now been drawn and it will be a long and ugly war.

I would like to have others join in by doing their own posts on this subject.  It's important to know what happened in order to launch the most effective battle.  If you chose to do a post, please let me know so I can link to it.

That pretty well sums my thinking, too.

Sex and Little Children...

For the past few days Abercrombie and Fitch's ad for bikinis with push-up tops for little girls has been going around the blogoshpere.

Pundette has managed to bring up some points that many others have missed - and we thank her.

The sexualization of childhood continues

And then I saw this ridiculous article  Obama says too much testing makes education boring

Really?  Really??
President Barack Obama said Monday that students should take fewer standardized tests and school performance should be measured in other ways. Too much testing makes education boring for kids, he said.
What exactly do you suggest we do instead?  I guess we could hold a mirror up to their nose and if it fogs over pass them on to the next grade. Oh wait, that is what we do.
Obama, who is pushing a rewrite of the nation's education law that would ease some of its rigid measurement tools, said policymakers should find a test that "everybody agrees makes sense" and administer it in less pressure-packed atmospheres, potentially every few years instead of annually.
Ease some of its rigid measurements?  The measurements that say the kids in the USA are dumber than half the developed world?  Are those the measurements he's talking about?

Obama, who has been pushing his education agenda all month, has expressed concern that too many schools will be unable to meet annual proficiency standards under the No Child Left Behind law this year. The standards are aimed at getting 100 percent of students proficient in math, reading and science by 2014, a goal now widely seen as unrealistic.
The Obama administration has proposed replacing those standards with a loftier yet less prescriptive requirement that by 2020 all students graduating from high school should be ready for college or a career.
Ready for college?  Are you talking about the colleges that practice grade inflation or the ones that spend the first two years trying to teach the kids what they didn't learn in 6th grade?

Here's the solution for all this nonsense.  Close that money pit called the department of education, completely privatize the schools, and while you're at it - put the kids in simple uniforms so we don't have to worry about little Betty coming to school looking like the class whore and little Bobby parading around with his underwear hanging out.

You can't reason with a lefty...

because they live outside of reality.

Did you ever try to have a reasoned discussion with a liberal?  You know, the kind of "back and forth" where each of you brings up verifiable facts?  No?  I'm not surprised.  If you are dealing with a person who does not recognize objective truth, denies reality, and whose entire world view is comprised of how they "feel", it is actually impossible to have a discussion.

Listen to the liberal's mantra of "taxing the rich."  Factually show them that if you took away every red cent that belonged to "rich" people, it would not even came close to rectifying our fiscal problems. Like our little robotic bimbo in the animation below, they will simple keep repeating, with slight variations, "I don't care -  tax the rich."

The question is, why would someone live in a world of their own making that was completely devoid of reality?  That can't be much fun.  Au contraire, mon ami; for them, it is self-protection taken to the ultimate.  If you don't have to face reality, you don't have to face who you are.  And who they are is not usually pretty.

So generally, my rule is not to engage in discussion with these people.  I used to get routinely sucked in by thinking, "Surely when I present the facts, they will understand."  And like Charlie Brown, who repeatedly had the football pulled away by Lucy at the last moment, I was left bewildered and frustrated, and never got to kick the football of reason down the field.

The next time the proverbial "liberal Lucy" wants to play football with you, tell them you don't have conversations with insane people.

A candid view of multiculturalism

Now that Sarkozy, Cameron, and Merkel have decided that maybe, just maybe, multiculturalism doesn't work too well, do you think we'll see a difference in their immigration policies?  I doubt it.

Here's a simple solution to the problem.  Any immigrant caught commiting a crime in the US should be sent back to the flea ridden sands of the hell-hole they came from.  Immediately!  And they can take all their loony lefty buddies with them.

I think Doug is the first "big time" blogger to come out in complete support of Sarah Palin and has placed her in his number one spot.

In the past, my first choice has been Sarah, but always with the qualifier "I don't think she can win", or "she's too polarizing."  Over the past few months, I've reconsidered that position and have come to the conclusion that I've been overly influenced by the hype the loony left has been propagating.  This is what they want us to believe simply because they believe she can win.  Why else the vitriol?

Sarah has withstood the constant and vile attacks on herself, her family, and her friends with grace and courage.  Isn't that the sort of person you'd like to have sitting in the oval office?

Which brings us to another genuinely nice guy, Clifton B, over at Another Black Conservative, celebrating Blogaversary number two.

Clifton brings us these encouraging words:

Does the Left know anything about morality?

Only if it's a morality dreamed up in the furthest regions of their own brain - unaccountable to anyone or anything except to how they "feel."

They feel women should be able to kill their babies in the womb - after all, it is her body, isn't it? They feel  children born with disabilities should be euthanized, and that killing old people are both compassionate things to do.  They feel that people are a scourge on the face of our planet, and that animals have equal or greater "rights."  They are "spiritual, but not religious."

They truly are disgusting.  It's as simple as that.

Federal Government Wants to Get in the Bully Business...

I thought they already were.

Early this morning (on what is shaping up to be a slow news day - thank goodness), I ran across an article at Hot Air   Dem Rep wants to make bullying a federal offense.
Rep. Jackie Speier, California Democrat, will introduce a bill that would require schools to report incidents of bullying against children diagnosed with conditions like Down syndrome and Aspergers to the federal government. It would also mandate that any federal dollars that promote anti-bullying programs focus partially on that group. read the rest
I want to make sure I'm understanding this correctly.  While the economy is in a free-fall, unemployment is at an all-time high, food prices are skyrocketing, gas prices continue to rise, Japan is having a melt-down, and the middle east is on fire, the loony left wants the feds to oversee bullying in schools?  Isn't that something the schools should be handling?

The solution is not vouchers as many believe.  The solution is to shut down the Department of Education and privatize the schools.  These could be smaller neighborhood schools that wouldn't require a "district" stocked full of over-paid bureauroweenies sucking up the education dollars, and where kids would actually be able to read their diploma when they graduated.

Here's a good example of the priorities of the Department of Education:

Conservatives on Fire asks the million dollar question:   When is the Next Election for EPA Director?

May I join with her by saying it took a hundred years to get in the mess we're in and one election isn't going to fix it (if it's even fixable and I have my doubts on that issue.)  The only way to get rid of the hundreds and hundreds of largely unconstitutional federal agencies is little by little.  In the meantime, expect things to get ugly - very ugly.

There are no restraints on the Leftist’s behavior because he has rejected all the restraints demanded of people with Free Will. There are no ties to the shared beliefs that make a group of people a civilization. The Leftist possesses free license to do as he pleases, however, as with all things in life, there is a trade-off. In holding free license, the bearer finds that he is eternally miserable because when there is no standard to live up to, no nobility to maintain, no honor to preserve, there is absolutely nothing to admire. All the Leftist is left with his self-contempt and self-hatred, like so many Gollums. He sees everyone as a reflection of himself. And he loathes himself and, as TL wrote, ‘then they magnify that to fit their perception of others’. Bob Belvedere

Donald Trump Wonders Where Obama Came From...

so do lots of other people, too.

From an interview aired today on Good Morning America:
Speaking about the president, Trump – in line with "birthers" who question the president's citizenship – said he, too, had his doubts that Obama was born in the U.S.
"Everybody that even gives a hint of being a birther … even a little bit of a hint, like, gee, you know, maybe, just maybe this much of a chance, they label them as an idiot. Let me tell you, I'm a really smart guy," he said.
He explained the source of his doubt: "He grew up and nobody knew him. You know? When you interview people, if ever I got the nomination, if I ever decide to run, you may go back and interview people from my kindergarten. They'll remember me. Nobody ever comes forward. Nobody knows who he his until later in his life. It's very strange. The whole thing is very strange," he added.

St. Patrick's "Breastplate" Prayer

I bind unto myself today
The strong Name of the Trinity,
By invocation of the same,
The Three in One and One in Three.

I bind this day to me for ever.
By power of faith, Christ's incarnation;
His baptism in the Jordan river;
His death on Cross for my salvation;
His bursting from the spicèd tomb;
His riding up the heavenly way;
His coming at the day of doom;*
I bind unto myself today.

I bind unto myself the power
Of the great love of the cherubim;
The sweet 'well done' in judgment hour,
The service of the seraphim,
Confessors' faith, Apostles' word,
The Patriarchs' prayers, the Prophets' scrolls,
All good deeds done unto the Lord,
And purity of virgin souls.

I bind unto myself today
The virtues of the starlit heaven,
The glorious sun's life-giving ray,
The whiteness of the moon at even,
The flashing of the lightning free,
The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks,
The stable earth, the deep salt sea,
Around the old eternal rocks.

I bind unto myself today
The power of God to hold and lead,
His eye to watch, His might to stay,
His ear to hearken to my need.
The wisdom of my God to teach,
His hand to guide, His shield to ward,
The word of God to give me speech,
His heavenly host to be my guard.

Against the demon snares of sin,
The vice that gives temptation force,
The natural lusts that war within,
The hostile men that mar my course;
Or few or many, far or nigh,
In every place and in all hours,
Against their fierce hostility,
I bind to me these holy powers.

Against all Satan's spells and wiles,
Against false words of heresy,
Against the knowledge that defiles,
Against the heart's idolatry,
Against the wizard's evil craft,
Against the death wound and the burning,
The choking wave and the poisoned shaft,
Protect me, Christ, till Thy returning.

Christ be with me, Christ within me,
Christ behind me, Christ before me,
Christ beside me, Christ to win me,
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger,
Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

I bind unto myself the Name,
The strong Name of the Trinity;
By invocation of the same.
The Three in One, and One in Three,
Of Whom all nature hath creation,
Eternal Father, Spirit, Word:
Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.

Sean Hannity and Michele Bachmann make Anthony Weiner look like, well - a weiner...

a little something for my loony lefty trolls.  Enjoy!

The "I forgot to give it a title post" which I guess can be called "the economic meltdown" or something

It has long been my opinion the mess our country is in has taken a century to develop and it won't go away for many decades - and then only if we have people who are determined to make it go away.  Do I think this will happen?  No.

Over at Conservative Hideout, the Classical Liberal has posted:  Blog Focus: U.S. Economic Meltdown
giving us a good run down of the realities we are facing.
Too many Americans continue to think the problems facing our country can be solved via Democratic or Republican politicians. That somehow, someway, the 545 people responsible for all of U.S. woes, are also the same people we should count on to get us out of the mess. read the rest

Mark Levin: Israel should tell Obama 'go to hell'

As for me?

When's Obama leaving for Rio?

It can't be soon enough to suit me.

Maggie over at her Notebook (who has just returned from a luxurious vacation where it was warm, beautiful, and interesting - able to engage in lovely activities like eating gourmet food, sinful shopping, and mega-sightseeing - while most of us were languishing in the snow or rain and doing nothing better or more interesting than gazing out our bedroom windows, where we may or may not have had something lovely to gaze upon.  Ooops - sorry,  got carried away there for a moment.  I really, really am glad she had a break from the mundane and do not begrudge her a good time.  Really!)

Anyhoo, Maggie reminds us how disconnected that fool in the White House really is:  Obama Putts Japan Drowns, Burns, Explodes, Starves  -and we thank her.

Pundette shows her disgust   World in crisis, Obama hits links

I'm torn between wanting him gone since he can do less damage while in Rio than DC, and passing some sort of legislation to stop this insane running around the world for no good reason.

But, wait!  Be still my beating heart.  The St. Paul Pioneer Press, bastion of liberalism, has posted an unflattering story about Obama's time on the links (I believe it's 62 or so since he was sworn in), and his upcoming trip.  It gets better.  There are 85+ comments, mostly from folks in Minneapolis and St. Paul, calling him the doofus he is.  Hope springs eternal...

From the Pioneer Press:

As problems rage, Obama fills out brackets and heads for Rio: Is it a problem?

Stacy McCain rides a big wave...

and lands on his feet.

Sometimes we have to break our own rules and one of my biggest rules is to not engage in "blog wars."   This morning Mr G Guy (and I thank him) alerted me to an essay Stacy had written in answer to a perceived slight from Little Miss Attila about the term feminism:

Re-Reading Susan Brownmiller
Confronting the Radical Facts of Feminism

As I said to Mr G in his combox,  "I find “blogger flame wars” to be childish, boring, and a complete waste of time – except for the fact it always brings out the best in Stacy."  I said a bunch of other stuff that Stacy may (or may not) find flattering.

There has never been a doubt in my mind Stacy is one of the best journalists and writers in the blogoshpere and is possessed of a formidable intelligence.  When someone "tweaks" him, though - he goes into overdrive and pulls out every ten dollar word on the approved list of  "Very Important Words", weaves magical sentences with commas appropriately appointed in all their squiggly goodness that is guaranteed to dazzle those of us who struggle with punctuation.

In the meantime, Attila has gone on the defensive and penned her own screed,  with not nearly the same amount of ten dollar words, but managing, nevertheless, to get her point across quite well.
This morning DaTechGuy jumped on the bandwagon by trying to make peace while not taking any sides (is there really a side to be taken?) because he likes both Stacy and Attila.

What's the point of this post?  None really, other than you should take the time to read Stacy's essay on feminism, which for the most part I agree with, and the fact that blog wars probably juice up the ol' hit counter while still being childish, boring, and a complete waste of time.

Libertarianism and Conservatism...

I am woefully uneducated in the concept of libertarianism (to the point of having a hard time even spelling it correctly.)  My learned buddy Mark, over at Ordered Liberty, has been recommending reading to bring me up to speed - and I thank him.

This recent post of his,   The Western Confucian: Libertarianism and Social Conservatism,  takes issue with a post over at The Western Confucian concerning an alliance between social conservatism and libertarianism.  In no uncertain terms he disagrees and in the process earns the coveted:

Quote of the Day
While conservatism is based on a positive conception of freedom rooted in a vision of the true, the good and the beautiful, libertarianism is based on a negative conception of freedom that simply seeks freedom from rules and authority, from social order and the rights of community.  Devoid of any concern for anything beyond the self, libertarianism wallows in a degenerate license that undermines the very idea of civilization itself.  It is the antithesis of everything that conservatism stands for -- of the very things that make conservatism what it is.

Tennessee is not Wisconsin...

and I'm so glad.

From the Blaze:   State Troopers Forced to Drag Union Protesters From Tenn. Senate Hearing

Republican Senate Speaker Ron Ramsey of Blountville in a statement said he supports the right to protest and assemble peacefully in Tennessee. But he said the protesters went too far.
“This General Assembly will not be intimidated by nomadic bands of professional agitators on spring break bent on disruption,” he said. “We talk through our differences here. Tennessee is not Wisconsin.” read the rest

Self esteem run amock...

Welcome Creative Minority readers.  Any friend of Matt and Pat is a friend of mine!

I've spoken before about the deadly results of the self-esteem movement...

The self-esteem movement creates monsters...

This morning I watched three videos on The Blaze that shows how young people, having been raised in the self-esteem movement, behave - and it ain't pretty.  The third video is available at The Blaze.

These are nothing more than spoiled and arrogant young people with an overly developed sense of entitlement and a healthy dose of "self-esteem."  Actually, this doesn't look too much different from the union thugs demonstrating.

Idaho Senate Approves Bill Making Assisted Suicide a Felony...

While the country is focused on Wisconsin and other high-profile battles, little ol' Idaho keeps chugging along.  While Washington state, driven by those living east of the Cascades, Oregon, and Montana think killing old or sick people is a good idea, you may consider yourself safe in Idaho.

From LifeNews:
While surrounding states like Washington and Oregon pushed ahead to become the first in the nation to legalize assisted suicide and Montana could be right behind them, Idaho passed a bill to make the practice a felony.

The Idaho Senate voted overwhelmingly Friday to do that and to revoke licenses from physicians who prescribe a lethal cocktail of drugs for patients to use to kill themselves. The law also allows people to get injunctions to prevent others from killing themselves with a doctor’s help. If it becomes law, those found guilty face five years in prison.  read the rest

Baby Joseph Maraachli flown to Missouri for care... w/ Update

thanks to Father Frank Pavone and the Priests for Life.

The baby who was hours from being pulled off life support at his Canadian hospital has been rescued by the national director of Priests for Life and taken to the U.S. for treatment. read the rest

I have no idea what was driving the decisions of the Socialized medical "care" field in Canada with their repeated denials for the family of baby Joseph to have a tracheotomy before he was returned home so he could breathe on his own.  It would have been far more economically and ethically sound to perform the tracheotomy and release the child to his parents, compared to the additional time spent in the hospital arguing and holding court hearings.

A tracheotomy is a rather simple procedure that can be performed on the battle field with a pen knife, and it would be a reasonable and usual treatment for a baby with Joseph's condition. It's not like the parents were requesting any extraordinary care.  The only thing extraordinary going on is the battle the Canadian doctors are waging in order to remove baby Joseph's ventilator so he can die by suffocation.

It's Sunday...

and I don't have the heart or the inclination to post anything disturbing.

Please offer your Sunday worship to the people of Japan as well as all the Christians who suffer persecution.  It is mind numbing that in the 2011 AD there are people being slaughtered for being Christians.

Regular snarky posting will resume tomorrow.

For today I'm going to make an effort to lift up my heart and hopefully bring a bit of joyfulness into yours.

May God bless all my readers (even the loony lefty trolls.)

Quote of the Day
Lent is our chance to do what Jesus does. While in this desert for forty days, we take the devil’s false promises to us and turn them into the fulfilled promises of God’s love and care for us. God will love us against our will, but He will not prevent us from taking the devil’s deal if we will to do so. He will give us everything we need to say No to the devil, but He will not say No for us. We must act; we must say to the devil’s face, “It is written…” God and His promises come first.

Michele Bachmann/Steve King letter to Boehner et al...

stolen borrowed entirely from Red State.

I agree with Doug Ross (who also "borrowed" the letter) that is imperative this be circulated and read by all Americans.  Since Doug and I committed the initial sin, feel free to re-post.

From Michele Bachmann:

Last night my colleague Rep. Steve King (IA-05) and I drafted a letter to Speaker Boehner, Majority Leader Cantor and Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers urging them to include language to defund ObamaCare and rescind the $105,464,000,000 in funds already appropriated to implementing the health care law.

Next Wednesday the House will consider another Continuing Resolution. Including language to defund ObamaCare is our opportunity to stop the flow of funds to ObamaCare once and for all. Our suggested language is, “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, none of the funds made available by this or any previous Act with respect to any fiscal year may be used to carry out the provisions of Public Law 111-148, Public Law 111-152, or any amendment made by either such Public Law.”

All members of Congress are encouraged to contact my office to join us in the effort to prevent taxpayers’ money from going to the implementation of this unconstitutional program.

The letter reads as follows:

Dear Speaker Boehner, Leader Cantor, and Chairman Rogers,
We very much appreciate your leadership in bringing H.R. 2 to the floor, which resulted in a unanimous Republican vote to repeal ObamaCare. This was an essential step in achieving our universal Republican goal to bring about the final, 100 percent repeal of this law. No strategy to accomplish this goal could succeed without this House vote.
From the moment legislation to repeal ObamaCare was first introduced, it has been widely discussed that a successful repeal strategy would center on first winning a Republican majority in the House, then holding a clean, up or down vote on repeal, and then prohibiting funding for the implementation or enforcement of ObamaCare. We must ensure that this strategy remains on track and on schedule.
The success of our effort to shut off funding for ObamaCare will hinge on the leverage points of this first session of the 112th Congress - namely the CR, which expires on March 18th, and the vote on raising the debt ceiling. We recognize the work to defund ObamaCare began with the inclusion of language in H.R. 1 to restrict annual appropriations from being used to implement the law. However, we also recognize that even this language, if enacted, leaves on the table $105.5 billion in automatically appropriated funds for the law’s implementation. We cannot successfully defund ObamaCare without shutting off these automatically appropriated funds.
While some have argued that our defunding efforts in the CR should be limited only to those annual funds actually provided by the CR, we disagree. If we do not stand our ground on the CR, leverage it as the “must pass bill” that it is, and use it to stop the $105.5 billion in automatically appropriated funds, ObamaCare will be implemented on our watch. We will also have conceded a significant amount of ground on this issue and will find it difficult, if not impossible, to regain the strategic advantage in future legislative vehicles.
Consequently, we ask that the following language, or more effective language, be added to the FY11 CR to cut off both the annual and automatic appropriations for ObamaCare’s implementation: “Notwithstanding any other provision of law, none of the funds made available by this or any previous Act with respect to any fiscal year may be used to carry out the provisions of Public Law 111-148, Public Law 111-152, or any amendment made by either such Public Law.”
It is essential that the above language be included in the CR. We, the undersigned, will not vote in support of a continuing resolution that is void of this crucial funding prohibition.
Sincerely,

Steve King        Michele Bachmann

Find a Bomb - Lose Your Job...

 how does that work?

KHQ.COM - Three workers who found a live bomb along the route of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade in Spokane and were hailed as heroes say they later lost their jobs.
The three were employed by Labor Ready and working under contract for the Spokane Public Facilities District when they found a backpack containing the bomb about an hour before the parade was to start Jan. 17. They alerted police, who were able to defuse the
bomb.
The three said they were criticized for not handling the situation properly and later lost their jobs.
The head of the Spokane Public Facilities District told The Spokesman-Review there was concern that the men handled the bomb too much before calling authorities.

The loony left shows us what civility looks like...

and it ain't pretty.

Muslim threats...

This morning the Muslim Brotherhood warned the United States that if  United States meddling in Egypt continued they intend
to cut off America 's supply of 7-11 and Motel 6 managers.

If this action does not yield sufficient results, cab drivers will be next, followed by Dell, AT&T and AOL customer service reps .

Finally, if all else fails, they have threatened not to send us any more presidents either.

It's gonna get ugly, people!!!!!.

North Idaho teachers stand around in the rain. Soggy signs say, "Veto 1108"...

fat chance.

After hearing the good news from Wisconsin, I thought I'd add my little tidbit about North Idaho.  On my way from the library to the grocery store I saw many picketers standing around in the rain with signs asking governor Butch Otter to veto bill 1180, curtailing union collective bargaining rights.

Glad it was raining.

I really enjoyed my coffee where it was warm and dry...

In the meantime, the elitist, wine sipping, spiritual but not religious, yuppies of Wisconsin are acting like the people they truly are...

Do you let your children in a room with these vile people??  Really?

If this is what happens when the "educated" are thwarted, imagine if they cut welfare...
