Idaho moves to strip collective bargaining rights from teachers...

Proud to call Rep. Bob Nonini, R-Coeur d’Alene, the bill’s House sponsor, my friend.
BOISE - The Idaho House has given final passage to a far-reaching bill that removes most of teachers’ existing collective bargaining rights, sending the measure to the governor’s desk and marking a big win for state schools Supt. Tom Luna, who proposed the plan.  read the rest

“You do remember your good teachers,” Nonini said. But...school districts face high costs when they try to remove a poor teacher. “That’s not right,”

It's always puzzled me why so many politicians seem to find it near impossible to just state what everyone knows is the truth. Sometimes I feel as if we're all living in a Hans Christian Andersen story and we're shocked when someone has the audacity to say, "the emperor has no clothes."

Kudos to Rep. Nonini!

Am I right to assume that Idaho union members deny the right of non-union teachers to compete with them for their teaching positions?

Perhaps states that eliminate workers' rights should just go ahead and secede from the union.

k - as far as I know all the teachers are union members. Although as a right to work state I would imagine they could hire non-union teachers (but don't quote me :-)
