Sarah Palin's Memeorandum posts almost outnumber posts on Weiner's weiner...

and the press is following her tour bus like yellow jackets on a picnic table.

Yep - ol' inconsequential, unimportant, and stupid Sarah has got the press creating potential traffic hazards as they speed around after her bus.  I heard her goal is to visit all 57 states that Obama visited.

And get this - the reporters are complaining that whizzing around trying to follow her is dangerous, as though somehow it's all her fault.  Well then, Bunky - stay home. Honestly - this whole thing has really brightened my day.

In case you missed it:

If Sarah Palin is so stupid, unimportant, and politically insignificant...

then why is everyone following her around and trying to figure out what she's doing?

I've used the original Spring Green Vitabath for over 40 years.

I'm excited...

Leaving you with some good stuff to read...

while I'm off getting a haircut.

My buddy Blue (usually a man of few but succinct words) posted an article sure to get you thinking.  Look; see the little dots after his title?  He got that from me - except he has one too many.  Three is the correct number.  Like the little dent under your nose, called a "philtral dimple" (isn't that cute?), those little dots also have a name; they're called an "ellipses" and most folks think they only mean a missing word.   While some folks may think I use them too much, the fact is, considering they can also signify an unfinished thought, I probably don't use them enough. That unfinished thought is called an "aposiopesis."  Now there's a word to casually toss into a conversation.  Thus endeth the grammar lesson.

My opinion....

I'm a relative newcomer to this world of Conservative Blogging and the Patriot Movement.  I've been reading a few of the blogs for a couple of years and posting on this blog for about 6 months.  Not a very long time....

I'll be the first to admit that the America we know today is not the America that I was born and raised in and it is not the America that I want for my children (all grown up now) and my grandchildren. read the rest

From American Thinker:

Will Obama Sink the Democrats?
The media are playing "divide and conquer" games against Republicans now, a strategy that worked in 2008 by leaving us with John McCain as the only candidate.  This time they are swinging between viciously attacking Sarah Palin and her family, and hyping real or imaginary divisions between Republicans -- never among the Democrats, who present the image of a united front with Stalinesque unity.  But you can bet there's a lot of vicious in-fighting among Obama, the Clintons, and all the rest, because Obama may be destroying the Democratic Party as we know it.  read the rest

One of the reasons I like American Thinker is the high quality of the comments.  Take time to read the comments, which in some cases, are superior to the articles.

If Sarah Palin is so stupid, unimportant, and politically insignificant...

then why is everyone following her around and trying to figure out what she's doing?

Logging on to Memeorandum this morning (something I rarely do), I was confronted by not one, not two, but three top articles covering Sarah and her tour.

Politico, a scurvy site to be sure, breathlessly exclaims "Palin in Gettysburg as Day 3 begins."

CNN gets top billing at Memeorandum for "Palin fakes out reporters at Gettysburg hotel."

Some other person from CNN reports: Iowa-bound Palin: Republican presidential field will change

Love the comments and added my thoughts to the mix:

Does anyone really care what this bimbo does or says? She is just so irrelevant. Really? Then why does she make headlines day after day?

Stop reporting on this idiotic, ignorant celebrity. Please. Just. Stop. But, but - you took the time to read it, didn't you?

Palin looks ridiculous,.. trying to look tough with her leather jacket and riding on the back of a motorcycle,.. she should stick to her tricycle,.. and what's with the helmet?.. there's no danger of damaging anything upstairs. I think she looked pretty hot.

Political grandstanding instead of actually participating in a memorial day service is tells where her priorities are.  I believe Rolling Thunder is a Memorial Day service. Might I remind you that your president, after spending as little time as he could on Memorial Day commitments, played golf for the 70th time since being elected?  How many golfers had their Memorial Day ruined because that fool was on the course?
John Carey, over at Sentry Journal,  has some thoughts on why Sarah drives the loony left even loonier:
Why does Sarah Palin drive the left so crazy? Why do they attack her academic credentials, her intelligence, and even her family? In my opinion I believe it’s because she’s real. What I mean by this is with her what you see is what you get and this drives the left absolutely bonkers. She’s grounded in strong conservative principles, unwavering in her faith, and devoted to her family; all that the far left abhors and fears. And finally she connects with the conservative base and this troubles the establishment. read the rest

Enlightened Monkeys

Whence Comes The Power?

Achieving a society with both freedom and peace is of course no simple task. It will require great strategic skill, organization, and planning. Above all, it will require power. Democrats cannot hope to bring down a dictatorship and establish political freedom without the ability to apply their own power effectively.

But how is this possible? What kind of power can the democratic opposition mobilize that will be sufficient to destroy the dictatorship and its vast military and police networks? The answers lie in an oft ignored understanding of political power. Learning this insight is not really so difficult a task. Some basic truths are quite simple.

A Fourteenth Century Chinese parable by Liu-Ji, for example, outlines this neglected understanding of political power quite well:

In the feudal state of Chu an old man survived by keeping monkeys in his service. The people of Chu called him “jugong” (monkey master).

Each morning, the old man would assemble the monkeysin his courtyard, and order the eldest one to lead the others to the mountains to gather fruits from bushes and trees.

It was the rule that each monkey had to give one-tenth of his collection to the old man. Those who failed to do so would be ruthlessly flogged. All the monkeys suffered bitterly, but dared not complain.

One day, a small monkey asked the other monkeys: “Did the old man plant all the fruit trees and bushes?” The others said: “No, they grew naturally.” The small monkey further asked: “Can’t we take the fruits without the old man’s permission?” The others replied: “Yes, we all can.” The small monkey continued: “Then, why should we depend on the old man; why must we all serve him?” Before the small monkey was able to finish his statement, all the monkeys suddenly became enlightened and awakened.

On the same night, watching that the old man had fallen asleep, the monkeys tore down all the barricades of the stockade in which they were confined, and destroyed the stockade entirely. They also took the fruits the old man had in storage, brought all with them to the woods, and never returned. The old man finally died of starvation.

Yu-li-zi says, “Some men in the world rule their people by tricks and not by righteous principles. Aren’t they just like the monkey master? They are not aware of their muddleheadedness.

As soon as their people become enlightened, their tricks no longer work.”

It's Friday...

a good day for stealing.

I lifted this from fellow blogger and friend LarryD of Acts of the Apostasy, because not all of my readers ( I love you all!) visit Larry.  And a shame that is, because Larry is one of the most brilliantly funny and insightful people anyone could have the honor of reading.

I've spent the entire morning, from 4:30am to 7:00am, reading articles that were profoundly disturbing and depressing.  Most of these articles chronicled events impossible for me to change, which is the most disturbing and depressing part of the whole shebang.

How about taking 9 minutes this morning to watch something guaranteed to remind you that America is still populated with mostly decent people.

"The Grand Rapids LipDub Video was filmed May 22nd, with 5,000 people, and involved a major shutdown of downtown Grand Rapids, which was filled with marching bands, parades, weddings, motorcades, bridges on fire, and helicopter take offs. It is the largest and longest LipDub video, to date.

This video was created as an official response to the Newsweek article calling Grand Rapids a "dying city." We disagreed strongly, and wanted to create a video that encompasses the passion and energy we all feel is growing exponentially, in this great city. We felt Don McLean's "American Pie," a song about death, was in the end, triumphant and filled to the brim with life and hope." - Rob Bliss, Director & Executive Producer(Source)

Aarons Rent-to-Own Spying on Customers with Webcams...

creepy.
The ABA Journal reported that Brian Byrd, 26 and his wife Chrystal, 24, are suing Aarons, Inc. They are alleging Aaron's installed software that could monitor key strokes, capture desktop images, and worst of all use the included WebCam to view and snap pictures. The young couple had no idea they were being spied on and probably never would have known, if the store manager hadn't mistakenly tried to repossess the computer. During a discussion with Brian, the store manager produced a picture of Brian Byrd that was taken by the computers webcam. read the rest

Bad Budget News for Obama...

Obama budget receives zero votes in Senate
"The Senate just voted unanimously against proceeding to the president’s budget. That’s right, unanimous opposition to the president’s budget that spends too much, taxes too much and borrows too much," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) I headed out to the living room, pulled the tablecloth off of my hippopotamus, and by gosh - it's a damn big animal.  LarryD has a big hippopotamus, too (although not as big as mine.)

Even if you're not Catholic, just say you are and reap the rewards.  God will understand.
A new study has given a blogger (me) a great idea for a class action lawsuit. I'll explain later but if you'd like to join the suit please let me know in the combox. It's gonna' rain cash, baby!!!

A new study PROVES(!!!!) that Mainline Protestants have bigger brains than Catholics or born again Christians. They studied something like 250 people so it's like real science. Or something.

I've got to wonder if any of the "scientists" involved in the study were Catholic or born again. I'm thinking not but who cares. Like I said, we could make a mad cash grab out of this.  read it all

From Americans for Truth:

Homosexuality in the Heartland
Naturally, efforts to transform American law to affirm people practicing same-sex behavior have collided with the religious and First Amendment liberties of those who disagree with homosexuality. In Illinois, shortly after lame-duck passage of the ”civil unions” bill, a homosexual  male couple targeted Paxton bed-and-breakfast owners Jim and Beth Walder, who have held wedding ceremonies on their property. The “gay” activists seek to use the new law to FORCE the Walders to use their own private business (and property) to host homosexual “civil union” ceremonies against their Christian conscience.  read it all

Sunday: Devoted to all things Israel...

Maggie, over at her Notebook, has just returned from a fabulous vacation, received her one millionth visitor (congrats), and managed to put together a concise and easy to understand mini-history of Israel.  While the true and complete history of Israel would have to start with the Bible, Maggie begins in 1920, which is  sufficient to understand the egregious comments made by Obama concerning the rearranging of the borders (again) of Israel.

To suggest, as Obama does, that a return to the pre-1967 borders for Israel will somehow have everyone standing around singing Kumbaya, is not only laughable, but could only be considered anti-Jewish.  Bear in mind that what are called the “1967 borders” were never agreed-upon national boundaries.
[...] "Remember that before the Six Day War, those lines in the West Bank only demarcated where five Arab armies were halted in their invasion of the nascent state of Israel 19 years earlier. Legally, they formed only an armistice line, not a recognized international border. No Palestinian state ever existed that could have claimed these prewar lines. Jordan occupied the West Bank after the Arab invasion, but its claim to sovereignty was not recognized by any U.N. members except Pakistan and the U.K. As Jordan's U.N. ambassador said before the war, the old armistice lines "did not fix boundaries." Thus the central thrust of Arab-Israeli diplomacy for more than 40 years was that Israel must negotiate an agreed border with its Arab neighbors."  Dore Gold from WSJ

Israel’s Pre-1967 War Borders: What They Mean – The Reality
Barack Obama said the way to peace between Israel and Palestine is for Israel to move their borders back to the pre-1967 Six Day War lines. Such a dishonest stance for any person, world leader or not, is astonishing, unless you support the demise of Israel. Here is a simple, truthful and easily understood reminder of those borders – usually, and conveniently ignored by those who accuse Israel of “occupying” Palestinian territory.  read Maggie's complete summation

Obama throws Israel under the bus...

while the first woman hoochie dances to Gloria Estefan.

Allen "I can't stand the guy" West makes statement about Obama's egregious behavior toward Israel.  I'm starting to really like West.
“Today’s endorsement by President Barack Obama of the creation of a Hamas-led Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, signals the most egregious foreign policy decision his administration has made to date, and could be the beginning of the end as we know it for the Jewish state.
From the moment the modern day state of Israel declared statehood in 1948, to the end of the 1967 Six Day War, Jews were forbidden access to their holiest site, the Western Wall in Jerusalem’s Old City, controlled by Jordan’s Arab army.
The pre-1967 borders endorsed by President Obama would deny millions of the world’s Jews access to their holiest site and force Israel to return the strategically important Golan Heights to Syria, a known state-sponsor of terrorism.
Resorting to the pre-1967 borders would mean a full withdrawal by the Israelis from the West Bank and the Jewish neighborhoods of East Jerusalem.  Make no mistake, there has always been a Nation of Israel and Jerusalem has been and must always be recognized as its rightful capital.
In short, the Hamas-run Palestinian state envisioned by President Obama would be devastating to Israel and the world’s 13.3 million Jews. It would be a Pavlovian style reward to a declared Islamic terrorist organization, and an unacceptable policy initiative.
America should never negotiate with the Palestinian Authority- which has aligned itself with Hamas. Palestine is a region, not a people or a modern state. Based upon Roman Emperor Hadrian’s declaration in 73 AD, the original Palestinian people are the Jewish people.
It’s time for the American people to stand by our strongest ally, the Jewish State of Israel, and reject this foreign policy blunder of epic proportions.
While the winds of democracy may blow strong in the Middle East, history has demonstrated that gaps in leadership can lead to despotic regimes.  I have questions for President Obama:  ‘Who will now lead in Egypt?‘ and ’Why should American taxpayers provide foreign aid to a nation where the next chapter in their history may be the emergence of another radical Islamic state?’
President Obama has not stood for Israel or the Jewish people and has made it clear where the United States will stand when Palestine attempts to gain recognition of  statehood by the United Nations.  The President should  focus on the real obstacle to security- the Palestinian leadership and its ultimate goal to eliminate Israel and the Jewish people.”

I'm off to a local zoning meeting.  For those who asked - hubby's heart is pure gold.  It's chugging right along like a good heart is supposed to.  Even the gal who did the echocardiogram was impressed.

A message from our president...

A few things to do while I'm gone...

not forever loony lefty trolls (you wish.)

Busy day ahead. First we have to vote the for the tea party candidates in the school board election. Then hubby is having a echocardiogram this afternoon.  His reward for being a good boy at the hospital will be a trip to Costco with his beautiful wife.  We'll be there during the height of the demo schedule so he's good with the idea.

There were so many good things to read today but I don't have time to link them all right now.  Here's a few that should keep you busy and informed until I return.

Within his article is a link to my favorite Redneck who has written a brilliant article about modernism in the Church  Dance With the Devil--or--The Anticchrist Mambo.
I often speak about the Marxist influence in all the churches.  This is not something confined to the Catholic Church.  All the churches are being infiltrated by the concept of "social justice", while removing the beauty and dignity of worship.

In Texas the infiltrators got a bit noisy and interrupted Pastor John Hagee's service shouting anti-Israel slogans. His sin? He devoted an entire service to honoring Israel.  Good for you Pastor Hagee.

Mind Numbed Robot wrote a piece I  (and just about everyone else in the blogoshpere) linked, entitled Defining America.  College student Kristen has used a refutation of that article for a college assignment.  The results are interesting:

He did pause long enough to put up this great post - and we thank him.

Opening the Morganza Spillway in Louisiana...

and some things to think about.

Pat, over at And So It Goes In Shreveport, has detailed coverage of the imminent flooding of the Cajun country of Louisiana.  The Morganza spillway is scheduled to be opened today in order to protect New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Sad...

When I lived in Houston, we spent a lot of time in Cajun country - usually on the way to and from New Orleans.  It was there that I developed my love for Boudin, the best sausage in the whole world.  Every little road side store would have electric steamers full of spicy boudin.  They'd wrap it in a hunk of newspaper and you'd stand outside and squeeze the wonderful sausage fixings into your mouth, hoping you could keep it off your shirt front.

Boudin in all its rice-filled gooey goodness
I've threatened for years to make my own Boudin, but first I may try placing an order with The Cajun Grocer. The owner has impeccable credentials, including working at Commander's Palace in New Orleans.  I've eaten in fine restaurants from east to west coasts, and none of them can compare with the wonderfulness of the restaurants in New Orleans.

Somehow, the pig grew from 400lbs to 500lbs since yesterday.  Thank goodness the woman who stupidly put a 400lb pig in her mini-van was from Montana and not Idaho or Washington. The fact that I am cooking a pork roast for dinner has no bearing on this article.  heh

Smart Grid to Track Internet, TV and Ice Cube Use

Everyday you go through your usual routine. You wake up to the alarm, take a hot shower, cook breakfast and drive to work. Then at the end of your day you drive home, cook dinner and try to relax by surfing the Internet or watching TV before you go to sleep, and then do it all again the next day.
Many of us take it for granted that our daily routine is a private ritual, that no one else on the face of the earth is aware of exactly what we are doing at any given time in the privacy of our own home.
Well that is all about to change, thanks to the Smart Grid. read more
Something to Think About

Matthew Archbold, at Creative Minority Report, has something for us to think about.  His story reminds me of when I was working as an optician at a vision store in a mall many years ago.  We were paid "spiffs" for every add-on we could add to eyeglass orders.  These could add up to as much as $25.00 per pair of glasses.  Trust me on this; if you sat down in front of me, you were going to take every add-on known to man, and some I probably made up.

One day, a little old couple were each buying eyeglasses that really should have cost about $300.00 for both pairs.  By the time I finished with those sweet people, the bill was closer to $700.00 (and this was many years ago.)   After they left, I remember standing in the back room and thinking, "What in hell are you doing?"  Thus ended my "career" at Vista Optical.

Obama: Classless, Clueless, and Crude...

he needs to go away.

Never in the history of this country has such a boorish charlatan attained the office of President of the United States.  While some former presidents may have been less than stellar in their personal behavior (Clinton and his cigars comes to mind), never have we had a person who has so publicly embarrassed us to this degree on the national, as well as international stage.

His slights to our allies, insults to the citizens of this country, race baiting, and the behavior by the low-brow entertainers he invites to the White House is an outrage.   He denies aid to Texas for help with their fires while propping up every tin-pot dictator, and then goes to El Paso and makes fun of each and every person in this country who wants our borders secured.  The same borders, I might remind you, that are an open invitation to every crazy Muslim wacko to walk across and kill our citizens (unless an illegal doesn't get them first.)

His wife's behavior is no better.  Dressed like a low-class hooker, she delights in keeping the focus of attention on herself, while demeaning the populace by insisting they're too stupid to feed their own kids. She hoochie dances with Beyonce and holds her up as a role model for little children, who I might add, are almost always black.  Racist?  You bet!

Here's a thought for you Mr. President in-name-only:

How about dropping the Muslim outreach in favor of protecting the citizens of this country?  How about staying in Washington and not flying around non-stop campaigning on my dime?  How about you returning the 400K salary we so generously give you since you refuse to uphold the laws of this country?

Alligators, Mr. President?  You bet!  And throw in a few pythons, water moccasins, and sharks for good measure.  You're a weak, disgusting fool, and act pretty much like every lefty Marxist I've ever met; smug, snarky, and self-satisfied.

Border Community Organizing Petition to Protest Obama's Immigration Speech

The residents of the Chiricahua-Peloncillo drug and human smuggling corridor that runs from the Mexican border north through eastern Arizona and western New Mexico are circulating a petition to send to the White House in response to President Obama's recent immigration speech.
"It is with great wonderment and sadness that we listened to your May 10 speech on immigration issues.  All of the joking about moats and alligators cut residents of Portal, AZ, to the core as we sheltered with friends or at a Red Cross evacuation site, to survive a terrible fire that still threatens our lives and property, as well as our ecotourism-based economy," the letter reads. read the rest

Update:

Videos up and running...

Break for Announcement

As most of you know by now Blogger has been down since yesterday.  It's been very peaceful.   This is the post I was working on when things went south.  I was at least smart enough to copy and paste the entire post into Word.  Turned out to be a very good decision.

Now YouTube is acting up and I can't get to the videos I posted.  Sigh...

Back to original post from May 12th, approximately 12:30pm PDT ...

For two days in a row, my Google Reader has been bulging at the seams.  I keep bringing it back to zero and 4 hours later it's back up to a number that rivals the amount of the national debt.  Most of it consists of one blogger after another repeating what some other blogger is repeating from some other blogger, and on and on.

Over the past few months, I've tried to limit posting to items that (IMO) 1. need to be known, 2. if I have something to add that's already known, or 3.  if something catches my eye, which could easily be a LOL kitteh, that seems to be an important issue.  In most cases, like now, I really have nothing to add so I'll leave it to the other hyper-bloggers to report.

But......................I still have some other thoughts (you could almost smell this coming, couldn't you?):

Last night we had rehearsal at church for Confirmation .  One girl showed up in teeny, tiny short-shorts that left little to the imagination. Hello?  Where is mom and dad?  Or how about the sponsor saying, "not on my watch."  Just sayin'.

And then we had to hear all the best catch phrases that have infiltrated the Church, i.e. community, family, and fellowship.  Not necessarily bad words, just words being badly used.

Bet I'm on the wrong side of this issue...

Blue did a recap of the LSU flag burning brouhaha.  He ventured no opinion either for or against. From what I've read on the subject, the pro-flag folks acted just as reprehensibly as that fellow who, not being able to obtain a permit to burn, was only going to read a statement.  Just suppose for a moment that no one showed up to hear the statement.  Would it have mattered?  Chasing him around and throwing crap at him and screaming obscenities was not very productive.  Don't those spoiled  kids have finals to study for?
While I agree with standing up for our principles, it does not include acting as stupidly as the loony left. To do so means they've won.

Reaganite Republican posted more thoughts on Donald Trump.  I applaud RR's willingness to stand up for what he believes. Part of his post consists of statements Trump made in New Hampshire, and if taken at face value, if they indeed represent the truth of who Trump is, he has my vote (if he even runs.)

Newt Gingrich?  Well, ol' Newt highlights what I think is a huge problem with many folks of the older generation.  These people have no lives or interests other than their chosen profession - in this case, politics.  If they did, they would be all too happy to retire and do some fun things.  And why is politics considered a "profession" anyway?

I guess Mitt Romney is declaring Obamacare a disaster waiting to happen, but Romneycare is A-ok, or something.  He went so far as to say he "wouldn’t apologize for the healthcare plan he installed during his time in office." As the kids say, "whatever."

Some weird company has conjured up an "Obama as Navy Seal" action figure doll.  Problem is, it has Moochelle's body and Obama's head.  Navy Seals should be speechless with anger and embarrassment to see a man who has not even done any armed service time, and wouldn't know an M-16 from an arugala, duded up like a Navy Seal.  Creative Minority Report brings up another problem with the doll.

In Minnesota, a constitutional amendment that would ban same-sex marriage took a decisive step Wednesday toward ending up on the 2012 ballot.  During the debates, openly gay Sen. Scott Dibble, DFL-Minneapolis,  showed a picture of himself and his partner, Richard, and emotionally asked, "what is so different about us?"   Really?  You have to ask?

Republican Mother brings up some good points:  Herman Cain, Really?

Much work and research went into her post and it should be widely read.

As I said in my comment on her post (cue the racist accusations in 3....2.....1...)
I'm with you. Something doesn't "feel" right about this adoration of Cain.
Another thought (definitely not PC) - don't you think it's a bit obvious to run a black against Obama? It's like buying into the whole, "I'm not racist, some of best friends are blacks" shtick.
We live in a country that is about 12% black and all we can find to run for president are two black guys?

Calling Out Marxism in the Church

Anyone Catholic who doesn't believe Marxists have infiltrated the Church is not paying attention, and is engaging in willing suspension of disbelief, or employing normalcy bias.

How many carbon credits did you earn today?...

'cause I've earned a bucket full by planting thirteen trees (only 7 more to go.)

Next up?  Ten bushes, which will seem like a piece of cake after the trees.   Expecting a phone call from Al Gore later today.

Tonight is Confirmation rehearsal.   Tomorrow evening my young lady friend and former religious education pupil is being confirmed, and I will be her sponsor.  Doesn't "Confirmation rehearsal" sound like we should be bringing in a little "stand in" Holy Spirit?   Maybe a robin or a sparrow to stand in for the dove?  Ok - I'm officially weird.

After a week of hard outside labor, my nails are in drastic need of attention.  After lunch, a full manicure is in order and typing will be impossible until later this evening.

Not wanting to leave my faithful readers with nothing of importance to read, allow me to recommend this fine piece from Stacy McCain, which dazzles the senses with truth and brilliance.

Moms, ‘Myths’ and Cultural Marxism
Liberals invariably use the word “myth” to describe any popular belief that they wish to discredit. Thus the liberal speaks of “the myth of the Old West” in order to attack the belief that pioneers, settlers and cowboys were admirably courageous, embodying noble and heroic traits worthy of emulation. Or a liberal may speak of “the myth of American exceptionalism,” seeking to discredit that view that our country’s phenomenal rise — from primitive colonial outpost to global superpower — signifies some unique or world-historic quality to our national character. read the rest

The Time for Choosing...

is now.

My spring tree and shrub order was delivered Monday.  Today I was out digging holes to plant my ten new trees and ten new shrubs.  At hole 8 I was feeling pretty good.  Except for one minor problem.  I have twenty new trees - not ten.  Arrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!!

So tomorrow I'll be back out at 5 am digging holes and planting trees.

In the meantime I urge you to read a speech by Ronald Reagan posted by Doug Ross.

What's Old is New Again

To quote Doug:

Absolutely brilliant.

Absolutely timeless.

And proof positive that the Democrats really haven't changed much in the last half-century.

Have you heard of S. 679: Presidential Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011?...

me neither.

While we're all distracted by our "gutsy" president, things are squirming in the background.

The Heritage Foundation  has this to say about the bill:
The bill reduces the number of presidential appointments that require the consent of the Senate and establishes within the executive branch a Working Group on Streamlining Paperwork for Executive Nominations. Individuals nominated to senior executive offices suffer slow and detailed background investigations and mounds of duplicative paperwork before a President sends their nominations to the Senate. After nomination, many nominees suffer time-consuming inaction or time-consuming and excruciating action as the Senate proceeds (or does not) with consideration of the nomination. The sponsors of S. 679 have identified a valid problem, but proposed the wrong solution. Congress should not enact S. 679.
I have not had the time to read the entire bill but knowing that the sponsor is bobble-head Chucky Schumer gives me pause.   Noisy Room has a post that unpacks the bill  Senate Seeks to Create Caesar.

Some commenters at Noisy Room think the bill is harmless and the post author, Terresa Monroe-Hamilton,  is "over-reacting."

What do you think?

As usual, I will read the bill before commenting.

More government intrusion...

 please make them go away.

I wake up to discover Obambi wants to send me messages on my cell phone.  But I tricked him.  All I have is an old flip phone which is rarely turned on and I don't do texting.

And while most of us are trying to fill our gas tanks without sacrificing dinner, the president sees fit to fire up Air Force One to give a speech in El Paso about immigration.  Oh yes - he'll also be having a few fund raisers while he's there.

While he's in El Paso going blah, um, blah, ah, blah, Arizona is ramping up to build their own border fence.

I heard a rumor Obama was on 60 minutes...

I didn't tune in.

It seems Timothy Geithner wants to raise the debt limit by 2 TRILLION dollars.  What?  Doug Ross has provided us with the details - and we thank him.

From Creative Minority Report:

Dead Rat Bounce

When you are the President and something goes right, you get the credit. I don't begrudge that for a second. Most people view the killing of bin Laden as a good thing, and the President has experienced a slight uptick in his polling numbers as a result.

That's the good news for the President. He better enjoy it. read it all

Reaganite Republican, that handsome man, has made me his featured blog this week.  That means I'll have to post some insightful, intelligent, well-punctuated material. Oh, the pressure.

Fantasy Bishball

Meantime, we had our draft choices for Fantasy Bishball this evening.  What is Bishball?  Glad you asked.  Some of you have probably heard of fantasy baseball.  You draft a team and then track their stats.  I understand it can get pretty brutal.

Being the good, solid and devout (whatever that is) Catholics we are, we decided to play Bishball.  Each of us picked three bishops to follow from now until the beginning of Advent.  We earn points for different cool stuff they do, like smiting dragons and hanging heretics.  Ok - maybe that's a bit of an exaggeration.   In reality, we earn points for every good article they write, homily they may give, or any time another blogger or newspaper writes something good about them.   We could earn extra points if they call Pelosi a bad Catholic, or suggest Joey Plugs become an Episcopalian.

We have our own blog set up by LarryD of Acts of the Apostasy (we love Larry) who was the originator of this whole idea ('cause he's a little nuts.)   My team, Mighty Mitres, has a solid lineup of three bishops;  James Conley of Denver, Paul Etienne of Cheyenne, and Salvatore Cordileone of Oakland.  I'm going to kick some Catholic derriere!

I just may have to hit up Odie the Woodsterman for a team logo...
