While there are plenty of people in this country who are working two or more jobs, have families to raise, money worries, and maybe some health issues, it isn't going to exempt them from the fire storm that is getting ready to ignite.
The BBC documentary "The Century of the Self", is becoming almost impossible to find. I, however, have managed to find the four part series. You're welcome. From Wiki:

But, it's okay since much of her article at American Thinker was based on a review done by Ron Radosh, a self-described ex-Marxist, who also hasn't read the book. There were quotes from some other elitist historians - none of whom read the book.
Feldman praises David Horowitz, head of Freedom Center which publishes Frontpage Magazine, for removing a favorable review of the book and replacing with the scathing one whipped up by Radosh, who, to remind you, has not read the book.
Now Mr. Radosh has doubled down and spewed even more vitriol on Diane West in yet another article at AT.
What did West do to upset these self-described intellectual giants? I think she suggested in her book that there may have been some conspiracies when it came to dealing with the Soviet Union way back when. That maybe, just maybe, there may have been a Soviet agent or two (or many) lurking around in our government. That's all I'll say about the book since I haven't read it either. To people like Horowitz, Feldman, and Radosh, hearing the "c" word is like throwing bloody raw meat to a pack of starving hyenas.
And these aforementioned self-described credentialed snobs don't think West is intellectually up to the task. I love the comment quoted in the Feldman article attributed to Clare Spark, a blogger and historian:

Yale and a prior book that gave her synoptic view of American culture as
stuck in adolescent rebellion. That she has the confidence to make
grand pronouncements about American culture and then diplomatic history
can be attributed both to her Ivy League education and to the rise of
the amateur commentator, thanks to far right conspiracy theorists. They
are attached to her as to other 'inside dopesters," and the results are
frightening for the future of the republic."
It just doesn't get much snottier than that, now does it?
You see, the bottom line here is that Feldman, Horowitz, and Radosh think they're doing a public service by recommending we don't read West's book because we're way too stupid to assess and critique on our own anything beyond an Archie comic book.

When I lived in Houston, we spent a lot of time in Cajun country - usually on the way to and from New Orleans. It was there that I developed my love forBoudin, the best sausage in the whole world. Every little road side store would have electric steamers full of spicy boudin. They'd wrap it in a hunk of newspaper and you'd stand outside and squeeze the wonderful sausage fixings into your mouth, hoping you could keep it off your shirt front.

I've threatened for years to make my own Boudin, but first I may try placing an order with The Cajun Grocer. The owner has impeccable credentials, including working at Commander's Palace in New Orleans. I've eaten in fine restaurants from east to west coasts, and none of them can compare with the wonderfulness of the restaurants in New Orleans.

Somehow, the pig grew from 400lbs to 500lbs since yesterday. Thank goodness the woman who stupidly put a 400lb pig in her mini-van was from Montana and not Idaho or Washington. The fact that I am cooking a pork roast for dinner has no bearing on this article. heh
Everyday you go through your usual routine. You wake up to the alarm, take a hot shower, cook breakfast and drive to work. Then at the end of your day you drive home, cook dinner and try to relax by surfing the Internet or watching TV before you go to sleep, and then do it all again the next day.
Many of us take it for granted that our daily routine is a private ritual, that no one else on the face of the earth is aware of exactly what we are doing at any given time in the privacy of our own home.

Something to Think About
Matthew Archbold, at Creative Minority Report, has something for us to think about. His story reminds me of when I was working as an optician at a vision store in a mall many years ago. We were paid "spiffs" for every add-on we could add to eyeglass orders. These could add up to as much as $25.00 per pair of glasses. Trust me on this; if you sat down in front of me, you were going to take every add-on known to man, and some I probably made up.
One day, a little old couple were each buying eyeglasses that really should have cost about $300.00 for both pairs. By the time I finished with those sweet people, the bill was closer to $700.00 (and this was many years ago.) After they left, I remember standing in the back room and thinking, "What in hell are you doing?" Thus ended my "career" at Vista Optical.
I challenge everyone to go out in the world today and use the word conspiracy. Just let it roll off your tongue and flit about in the air. It will feel so good. I promise!
I felt the need to repeat that phrase because Doug (bless his heart) felt the need to repeat it in his most recent post. Let's review the meaning of conspiracy. Hey - how about four definitions in case you don't like some of them?
Conspiracy:
1. An agreement to perform together an illegal, wrongful, or subversive act.
2. A group of conspirators.
3. Law An agreement between two or more persons to commit a crime or accomplish a legal purpose through illegal action.
4. A joining or acting together, as if by sinister design:
I spoke about conspiracy in an earlier post Conspiracy is Not a Bad Word and nothing has happened since then to change my mind. Don't let the Loony Left steal our perfectly good words. I believe what is going on in Washington is a conspiracy. They have managed to fulfill all four of the above definitions.
Doug has a great post up,"You Won't Believe What They're Up To Now"about the potential for the amoral crooks in DC to steal people's 401K's. As I said earlier, Doug felt the need to tell us twice he was not a conspiracy theorist. Since Doug is one of the most respected and careful bloggers out there, I find it curious that his reporting of the news should be fraught with such disclaimers.
I'm tired of the left defining the argument. We spend all our time assuring folks we're not racists, conspiracy theorists, or right-wing religious wackos. Those accusations against us are Alinsky tactics and we're buying right into them.
Let's not get all complacent about the upcoming elections. It's not over until the "fat lady sings", and I don't trust the current administration. No siree, Bob. Not one tiny bit. My biggest worry is the fact that Obumbler seems to be sticking his big ugly foot in his equally big and ugly mouth more and more without showing signs of worry. The old Google Reader has ratcheted past the 1000+ mark in just a few hours. I think we've all heard enough about the so-called Slaughter rule to have figured out the dems will probably use it, or any other under-handed means available, to pass this monstrosity of a bill.
To put it in perspective, I've lived through the assassination of John F. Kennedy. I watched as Jack Ruby shot Oswald on live TV. I sat through days of non-stop coverage as JFK was laid to rest. I objected as Johnson ushered in the "Great Society" promising to "raise up the bottom one third of poor people" (think about that stupid statement for awhile.) The Nixon years were interesting, to say the least. The Clinton famous "blue dress" is not something I care to revisit, and I suffered through Bush derangement syndrome. I remember the Korean War, and while in college, watched in amazement as Sixties hippies lived in filth while imbibing untold quantities of marijuana. Also, I saw the Vietnam War unfold on live TV (how "1984" is that?)
However, I have never seen anything like what is going on today. And what is going on is nothing more than an agenda that has been in motion since the beginning of this country - actually, since the beginning of the world. Is it a conspiracy? Sure, but before dismissing me as a conspiracy wacko, let's take a look at that much maligned word.
con·spir·a·cy

1. the act of conspiring.
2. an evil, unlawful, treacherous, or surreptitious plan formulated in secret by two or more persons; plot.
3. a combination of persons for a secret, unlawful, or evil purpose: He joined the conspiracy to overthrow the government.
4. Law. an agreement by two or more persons to commit a crime, fraud, or other wrongful act.
5. any concurrence in action; combination in bringing about a given result.
See there? "Conspiracy" is an appropriate word for all that is motion at the moment, and should not be linked for all time to the word "wacko." For instance; check out numbers two and three above. Sounds an awful lot like what is going on in DC right now. While you're at it, how about adding on numbers 4 and 5. What we have is the Obama administration conspiring (see number one) to bring about numbers 2 through 5.
Today, tens of thousands of people will be marching on Washington to protest this unscrupulous, and no doubt, illegal takeover of another huge chunk of our economy. Will it change any minds? Probably not, but it is something that must be done. To not do so robs us of a bit of our humanity - our God given rights as individuals with free will.
Which brings me to the most important conspiracy of all time. Since the first angel was cast out of heaven for conspiring against God, we have lived in a world where the forces of evil have conspired to overthrow us, and by doing so, ruin God's creation. The fallen angels have, over the years, found willing participants to join in this conspiracy.
Do not allow these people to destroy your hope - a word bandied about these past few years in the most perverse manner. Do not allow the sins against hope, despair or presumption, to overtake you. The one fact we can rely on with the utmost certainty is that the forces of evil will not win. Believing that is to lose sight of the fact that God is always in charge. Always!
