U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo "Meet and Greet" on Lake Coeur d' Alene

Heading off to beautiful Lake Coeur d'Alene for a "meet and greet" with Senator Mike Crapo (R-ID)  this evening.  Dinner out after the cruise to celebrate hubby's birthday.

I've never been to such an event.  Should be interesting and at least I'll know the majority of people there will be of like-mind as moi.

The Republicans announce their pledge and the blogosphere goes nuts...

We have blogger type people for and blogger-type people against.  Nice Deb has a nice roundup of the two sides.  Personally I don't care one way or the other about so much blah-blah.  I want to see results and the only thing that really matters is action.

Once again many of the top bloggers in their effort to mock Obama have posted something that is just not true.  Israel was not at the UN for Obama's speech because of the Feast of Tabernacles, a Jewish holiday.  Some of these bloggers have walked back their statements - some have not.  I'm seeing this more and more. It's a good way to lose your credibility.  It is rare that you would see an accomplished journalist such as Stacy McCain do that.

In case you missed it:

The American Dream

The American Dream.  I remember when those words and what they connote made me stand just a little taller, feel just a little bolder, speak just a little more assuredly.  To me, The American Dream (yes, with a capital "T" on "the") meant that anyone--even me--had a chance to succeed, to build a business, buy a home, save for a rainy day, plan for a decent retirement, send kids to college, achieve whatever success one dreamed possible for oneself.  If that meant financial success, yay! If that meant personal success, however you define that for yourself, yay!  read the rest at Fuzzy Logic - excellent!

What the hell is that loon doing sitting around backyards talking to a handpicked bunch of people that think he's the "won" ? w/Update

I actually have this backyard conflab running in the background (live from the All Barack Channel) and it is surreal...

A woman actually thanked him for sending her a check for $250.00 so she could buy heart medication.  Now a woman is explaining the "doughnut hole" and how "once people understand this plan they'll love it."   Where have we heard this before?

Dear Lord, please, please tell me the American public is not so stupid that they'd fall for this nonsense.

I have to turn this off and eat breakfast...

Update:

I've got it now (slapping hand to forehead.)   It's an infomercial like the guy selling the Sludge-o-Matic.  Gather an adoring audience around to help sell your product.  The people who will buy a Sludge-o-Matic will buy this carp.  That's scary -  I heard the sales of the Sludge-o-Matic was at an all time high.

It's time to chill

It's only Tuesday and the blogosphere is hysterically posting like the end of the world is imminent.  It's actually kind of amusing.  I have sites that I generally visit with close to a hundred posts since last evening.  Guess what?  No one is reading them because most folks don't have the time. Throwing out more words is not necessarily going to solve more problems.

The primaries are over and the time to focus on the November elections is now.  Part of that focus is setting aside time for prayer and reflection. It is so hard for us to understand many of the things going on because we refuse to "name the enemy."  We are under heavy assault by the forces of evil and the number one solution is prayer.

That being said - here's a bit of fluff for your day...

A hearty H/T to my blogger buddy, Mighty Mom, for this great video.  She asked me if I thought it was time for another great dance movie.  You bethcha!!

The most unethical, corrupt, racist, anti-business, anti-American, and inept Administration and Congress in the history of the USA and they want to go home early to campaign...

Great! And don't come back.  At least if you're out of Washington you can't be passing anymore Socialist legislation.

Oh my goodness, What was Hillary thinking???

You're right - this has no substance...

Thanks to anonymouse, faithful commenter over at one of my favorite sites, Michelle Obama's Mirror (MOTUS) for the heads up on this.

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is seen during a meeting at UN HQ in New York yesterday ahead of the General Assembly  source

I need to check my Facebook messages more often...

The world we live in has become so over-connected that it's a wonder anything of substance is accomplished.  Facebook is a great example and if you're a big fan of Twitter - good for you.  I think it's silly.  I'm not against technology, just what (IMO) is the misuse of technology.  Just yesterday I was at the deli counter of our local grocery store and a woman standing behind me was having a very loud discussion on her cell phone.  I'm sure she could be heard a minimum of 25 feet in any direction.  The subject seemed to be about some custody battle taking place. I didn't want to hear it and I'm certain no one else did either.  But hear it we did.  And don't even get me started on texting, cell phone talking, or tweeting while driving.

I have quite a few Facebook "friends."  Most of whom I don't know.  At first I gathered up these "friends" as though having lots of  "friends" made me more authentic - or something.  But I discovered that when I logged on to Facebook I was confronted with page after page of updates from people I didn't know.  The result was boring and time consuming so I rarely logged on anymore.  And Farmville?  Oy vey!

This morning or lack of anything better to do (how sad is that??), I took a look at my messages which are now at 278 and found this one from September 8.  A mash note to a little old lady.  How cool is that?
Hello,
Wow, you're so pretty and going through your profile, I found some things that says we have in common. I have seen sunsets, sunrises, blue oceans, deep seas, lush forests, dense jungles, but nothing - not even these - could compare to the beauty that I see in you. I'm a beautiful hearted guy, who's in search of his soul mate and intends to find it here on this site, because I've heard a lot of success stories. I would love to correspond with you and see if we could work something out. Once again I must say God worked over time creating you. Lets keep in touch.
He's obviously a man of great good taste and discernment...

People in Need of Prayers...

So often we become consumed by the worldly goings on that we forget our spiritual responsibilities.

Several blogger buddies of mine are in need of prayers.  Phillip Gerard Johnson, a young man currently in the seminary, was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor after serving two years in the Navy as an officer.  Even though his treatment has been aggressive, the most recent MRI is showing continued growth of the tumor and current treatment has been stopped.

And my Texas friend, Kalona, has just received her stem cell transplant after many grueling months of chemotherapy.    Through it all she has displayed a grace and faith that most of us would find difficult.

Let's take a moment to go to their blogs and send good wishes and prayers to these folks.  My StatCounter tells me that millions upon millions of my daily visitors could make a difference.  Just imagine a million messages in your com-box.

...and I thank you in advance.

New Democratic Logo - I know where I've seen it before...

So I'm cruising around Saberpoint where Stogie has presented us with the new dem logo enhanced with a line through it - the international signal for "no."  That little line was the first thing I thought of when I saw the new logo, but something else kept nagging at me.  That logo looked very, very familiar.  Before I could even leave a comment for Stogie (good work on Stogifying the dem logo) it finally floated to the surface.

And the meaning behind this?  None that I know of...

Queen Nancy Pelosi talks to the "small" people...

From Nancy Pelosi:
emphasis mine
“What I believe the American people deserve is a tax cut for the middle class,” Pelosi said. “And without getting into procedure and timing and process, what we’re going to do is to say at the end of the day the extension of the Obama middle-income tax cuts will take place, and that’s what I have to say on the subject.”
What you believe we deserve.  Do these people have not a clue of how arrogant and ignorant they sound?   And how did the Bush tax cuts morph into the Obama tax cuts?   I can see November from my house...

Senate passes $30B small business credit measure. A question and a comment...

Senate passes $30B small business credit measure
The Senate passed long-delayed legislation Thursday designed to open up credit to small businesses and award them with other incentives to expand and hire new workers.
Democrats won a 61-38 vote to pass the legislation, joined by two Republicans. The measure would establish a $30 billion government fund to help open up lending for credit-starved small businesses, cut their taxes and boost Small Business Administration loan programs.
Question:

Where the hell is this money coming from?

Comment:

Responsible business owners do not borrow money in order to hire people.  It just doesn't work like that in the real world.

It's time for people to vote their conscience...

All this talk about Christine O'Donnell not being electable is making me tired.  The elitist snobs in the Republican party wanted the people of Delaware to nominate the RINO incumbent Mike Castle because they would have you believe Ms. O'Donnell doesn't have a prayer of winning the election.  Well, so be it!

Like Matthew Archbold said in Ignore Your Conscience and Vote?
We’re being told to ignore our conscience during the primaries and choose candidates who we’re told can [win] in the general election. But why the heck shouldn’t I vote my conscience in a primary? If a majority of Republicans vote for a candidate they don’t really like what you’ll likely get is a candidate that nobody likes. read the rest
While having a discussion with my pastor about this yesterday he echoed Matt's words almost exactly.  And like Matt, I'm not playing games anymore.  It appears lots of other people agree with me.

Patrick Archbold sums it up nicely in  The Rise Of The True Believer
What is one to make of all the hubbub this Republican primary season?  Most of the talk has centered around the tea party, Sarah Palin, Republicans in name only (RINOs), and the reaction of the Republican establishment.  Well, there is much to talk about.
The Republican establishment has clearly been shocked by the rapid ascension and influence of the tea-party and more general tea-party sentiment during the primary season.  And rank and file conservatives new to the political process have been shocked at the unfriendly welcome they have received in Republican circles. read the rest

The war on electronic cigarettes

From AP: NYC to try banning smoking in parks and beaches

If they're so dang worried about secondhand smoke or people killing themselves with cigarettes, then why the war on electronic cigarettes?

More:

Some questions answered:

I've had many inquiries about the type of electronic cigarette I use. I've only tried about 4 different ones and the Vapor King remains my favorite. I've been very pleased with both performance of the Vapor King as well as the company Electronic Cigarettes, Inc. They are accredited by the Better Business Bureau and ship quickly. If you have questions they have a phone number and a real live person to talk to - in English!

As to saving $$$. Both my husband and I have switched to e-cigs and our savings so far (about 4 1/2 months) is in the range of about $2100.00. You read that correctly. Thanks to the government, cigarettes are a very expensive way to kill yourself. My recommendation for anyone just starting out would be the double Vapor King starter kit for each person. That way you can have a battery charging while using the one that is charged.

We do purchase most of our e-liquid locally and we avoid the local mall kiosk sites because they generally charge about double what the price should be.

Why is anyone even having this discussion? Can you say Homeschool?

Livable Communities Act S.1619

Senator Dodd introduced this bill to enforce UN Agenda 21.  I've brought up Agenda 21 in the past here and here.    In one of those posts I suggested that Agenda 21 was almost as dangerous as Obamacare.  In actuality they are both equally dangerous.

One of the best articles on this whole debacle remains New World Order Rising? Thoughts on the UN World Summit on Sustainable Development by Steven Yates and I urge you to read it.  In fact you may want to print it out and go through it with a yellow highlighter.

The concept of sustainable development is nothing more than Marxism which has been wrapped in the feel good package of environmentalism.  It will create a new permanent federal office (just what we need) that will coerce communities to accept grant money thereby gaining control of where and how you live.  It real goal is to control how land is used, population control, and redistribution of wealth.

Rush Limbaugh loves his electronic cigarette...

and I love mine.

It's been close to five months since I've smoked a "regular" cigarette.  Electronic cigarettes are the wave of the future and the government is doing everything in its power to ban or control them.  Why?  Need you ask?  It's perfectly fine with them if you smoke a cigarette that will kill you because they reap huge rewards in the taxes they collect.  Electronic cigarettes don't kill people, don't smell, and cost waaaaay less. Yet our government doesn't want you to have them or they're going to find a way to tax them to the point where you won't be able to afford them.

Today Rush was talking about his e-cig (he likes apple flavor - I'm into boysenberry) and the very issues I've just brought up.  If you smoke, I urge you to get an e-cig and kick the habit.  Imagine your home smelling fresh and clean, no more stinky hair and clothes, and whole lot more cash in your pocket.  Imagine no more coughing, brighter eyes, and clearer skin.  Imagine breathing better and living longer.  Just imagine.

Kevin McCarthy

Kevin McCarthy, Actor, Dies at 96

 RIP

Although Kevin was a talented actor who won accolades for his many roles,  he will always be remembered for his role in the  Invasion on the Body Snatchers.

Stacy McCain up front and personal with Andrew Breitbart at the 9/12 rally

Look who's popping around in the forefront of the video.   Is that?  Could it be?  Why yes - it is our very own Stacy McCain.    And could that be DaTechGuy in the pink shirt?   I'll have to confirm that to be sure...

America - Simon and Garfunkel and a treat for my drummer friends...

Simon and Garfunkel were looking for the America that promised them they could be anything they wanted to be.  They found it - will we reclaim that legacy?

Let us be lovers, we'll marry our fortunes together
I've got some real estate here in my bag
So we bought a pack of cigarettes and Mrs. Wagner's pies
And walked off to look for America

"Kathy," I said as we boarded a Greyhound in Pittsburgh
"Michigan seems like a dream to me now"
It took me four days to hitch-hike from Saginaw
I've come to look for America

Laughing on the bus, playing games with the faces
She said the man in the gabardine suit was a spy
I said, "Be careful, his bow tie is really a camera"

"Toss me a cigarette, I think there's one in my raincoat"
"We smoked the last one an hour ago"
So I looked at the scenery, she read her magazine
And the moon rose over an open field

"Kathy, I'm lost," I said, though I knew she was sleeping,
"I'm empty and aching and I don't know why"
Counting the cars on the New Jersey turnpike
They've all come to look for America
AII come to look for America
AII come to look for America

And for my drummer friends in the blogsphere:  The late great Larrie Londin.

Hal Blaine, one of the best session drummers of all time, played on the above Simon and Garfunkel clip.  It got me to thinking about another great session drummer that has never been properly recognized (except by some of us drummers.)

I was blessed to have been able to see Larrie at the first Zildjian Days in California in 1981.  I had just spent an intense week at a drum workshop with Carmine Appice at the University of California.  I headed home to Sedona, AZ,  gathered up my husband and headed back to California for Zildjian days with headliner Steve Gadd.

I'll never forget when Larrie walked on stage.  He was wearing one of his trademark Hawaiian shirts and was easily twice as heavy as he is in this video.  The audience was mostly younger slash and bang metal types, sadly lacking in rudiments,  and you could hear the snickers.  But by the time Larrie was through the entire auditorium erupted in cheers, foot stomping, and was begging for more.  That "old" man (I was 36 at the time and Larrie was 38) showed those young pups a thing or two!

Steve Gadd, on the other hand, was so stoned he could barely stand up (literally), and never really played at all.  So much for being a headliner.

Larrie tragically  died in 1992 at the age of 48  of a heart attack.  The world of music lost not only a modest and humble man but one of the greatest teachers and drummers ever...

  This video was from 1991.

Something to brighten your Sunday...

from The Lonely Conservative.

This video of Marco Rubio (for some unknown reason my plug-ins are working again and I can watch videos.   I have no idea of what I did to accomplish this, but I'm offering a bacon sacrifice to the computer gods this morning),  will help renew your faith in the up and coming conservatives.

This is worth gathering the children in your family to watch and we thank Allen Wilson, posting at The Lonely Conservative, for bringing it to us.

 In Allen's words:
Yesterday morning I attended a prayer breakfast for the purpose of video taping the event.   What I saw was a politician who climbed down off the stump and spoke with a clear message. With a clear and profound understanding of the American Spirit Marco Rubio, just days after the death of his father, shared a vision of the past, the present, and the future of America. In this gathering for the rememberance of 9/11 it was moving to be reminded of why we are here and what makes America different.
It was a bit of a struggle whether to post the video or send you to The Lonely Conservative which in turn would send you to YouTube.  That all seemed like a bit much to ask of my readers and so I decided to post the video to save you time.  While I try to be very careful to not only give credit to other hard-working bloggers for content they produce, I  also want to  make sure they receive the page hits they deserve.  On the other hand, I also know that Karen at The Lonely Conservative is more concerned with spreading the message than obsessing over her page hits.

Enjoy the video and then take a moment to head over to read Karen's latest post Democrats Have Picked Their Target – John Boehner - it's excellent...

Computer chirping along like an itty-bitty bird...

but my Adobe Flash player is gone.  Arrrrgh!!

My wonderful computer guru was here to clean up the old beast and it's running like a spring chick and my new Logitech mouse, with a functioning wheel, is better than sex (almost ).  However, somehow my Adobe Flash player disappeared.   I remember having a nightmare of a time installing a flash player with Firefox many years ago.  Nothing has changed!

I know, I know - all you techie types are ROFLAO at my inability to solve my little problem.  I've spent several hours reading all the help sites, tweaking every system that can be tweaked, pleading with Adobe, and lighting candles to the computer gods - all to no avail.  Videos will not play. Period.

I shall overcome my embarrassment at being  "technologically challenged" and email my guru who will, no doubt, fix the problem with a few little simple instructions.  Want to know the best thing about my guru??  He never, ever laughs at me - at least to my face.

I'm going to go to the store and buy a couple of new toilet seats to soothe my soul (no jokes, please!)

And later I will break my silence (no big whoop) on this whole Quran burning thingy going on - which as of a few minutes ago was called off.  Oy vey!

My blogger buddy, LarryD, one of the all time funniest guys on-line  (except for Terry   - but you have to be insane to "get" Terry's humor, which both LarryD and I do, which means that both Larry and I are insane) weighs in with a report of another serious book burning that is sure to start yet another international uproar.

Victor Davis Hanson

Our Waning Obama Worship by Victor Davis Hanson

Excellent...

Obama off to Ohio to tell "rich" people that earn over 200K they're screwed...

And he can't do this in DC, why??  Someone needs to add up the cost of all the frivolous flying around this goon does...

And how about the environment, Mr Green President??  Or the inconvenience visited on the "small" people by having your motorcades, airplanes, and helicopter buzzing around?

Obama to pitch trio of economic proposals in Ohio

Here's the deal.  Let the tax cuts expire for the people earning over 200K,  a great many of them who own small businesses, and then give them some money back in the form of some small business loan or tax break.  As the money passes through the hands of the government, they'll skim off a chunk for themselves.

Meantime insurance companies will be raising their rates due to Obamacare mandates starting to kick in.

    Conservatives Supporting Same-Sex "Marriage"

Lately we've seen a rash of self-proclaimed conservatives, including Glenn Beck, who are stating they have no objection to same-sex "marriage."  These folks claim it won't change their marriage if two guys or two gals tie the knot and perhaps it's time for the government to get out of the marriage business.

The fact is, by allowing same-sex "marriage", which can only happen by re-defining the definition of marriage, the end result will change your marriage.  As for the state being involved in your marriage there are good reasons for the state, or society if you prefer, to care about and regulate marriage.  They are showing a lack of historical knowledge about the reasons for states to regulate marriage laws, as well as not thinking through to the unintended consequences of redefining marriage.  Not thinking things through is a hallmark of the liberal mind.

The following two articles were both published today and cover the issue way better than my time allows.  It is important to have the information available when the subject comes up for discussion and these two articles will help.

Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm  - Barack Hussein Obama - hmmm , hmm, hmmm...

Transcript of the Milwaukee speech.  I didn't think it was possible to lie that many times in such a short speech.   And he complained that his critics “talk about me like a dog.”   Not me - I like dogs...

    Back from Montana

We returned home after the wedding in Montana.  Four hours after hitting the sack we're up and looking like a couple of zombies.  I'm heading back to bed for a few more hours.

To brighten your Sunday, Reaganite Republican has posted a grand collection of Sunday Funnies - and we thank him!

    Weekend Roundup...

    In case you missed it:

Carol's Closet:   Should you vote Republican at any cost?

The republican Mother:   The Establishment - Naming Names and Tracing Their Roots
This is long, but well worth a read (or several, since there is so much information.)

Patheos:    Have We Squandered Our Cultural Inheritance?  by Timothy Dalrymple

National Review Online:  The Revolt of the Bourgeois  by Rich Lowry

CBN News:  'Islamization' of Paris a Warning to the West

Mark at Ordered Liberty:  Republicans shouldn't take the upcoming mid-term elections for granted.  Mark also earns (again) the much coveted  "From the Combox" award for his comment on this post from yesterday I am convinced this "man" is insane...

    From the Combox:

Or he's just spinning. After all, what else is he going to say? "Gee, I've run the country into the ground." I doubt it.

Do not underestimate Obama and the Democrats. Republicans and conservatives are doing well right now, and are building momentum for November. But the Democrats aren't stupid -- ideologically blinded but not stupid. They know what's coming and they have the capacity to respond. Remember as well that the Left plays the long-game. And their long-game right now is the transformation of the American economy into a European style social democracy. Keep that in mind when looking at their statements and their policies. Mark at Ordered Liberty
I'm sure there is much I have missed but I'm headed out to Montana for the day.  Have a wonderful weekend...
