Commercial drivers license to drive a tractor??...

will this include my riding mower?

You remember - the one that that doesn't go in reverse (a very dangerous modification compliments of our nanny state) unless I keep the key in backup mode.   Inquiring minds want to know.

Reprinted in full from Ann Barnhardt - and we thank her.

HELL NO. H.E.L.L. N.O. Do not comply with this.

Feds want to require Commercial Drivers Licenses for all farm equipment operators.

From the article:

The time-honored initiation into working the family farm could one day be a thing of the past, with discussions underway in Washington to require operators of farm equipment to have a commercial driver's license, or CDL.
(snip)
The requirements would subject farmers to the same rules governing truck drivers, requiring them to keep logs and limit their hours.
--------------------------------------------------
Ladies and gentlemen, we are now at the point of civil disobedience being a MORAL OBLIGATION. You CAN NOT, you MUST NOT comply with this under ANY circumstance whatsoever. This is a means of getting control of your land and production. They want to force you off the tractor and get their own "professional drivers" in, who will then have to power to control and/or sabotage your planting and harvest. Not to mention the fact that they want you paying their union thug $80 per hour while you are sitting in the house twiddling your thumbs. These professional drivers would most likely be unionized and illegal aliens. You know I'm right.

Hell no. Hell no. Hell no.

Send it viral.

Adding something new to the conversation...

is a rule of blogging.

Problem is, I have nothing to add except to repeat my prediction:
At the end of this Kabuki theater, we will have higher taxes, more spending, no significant cuts, and the debt ceiling will once again be raised.
This thing playing out in Washington is ridiculous.  Do these employee's of the American people really believe we're so dumb as to not see what's going on?  Silly question.  Of course they do.

Republican Redifined says it well in Rand Paul on Debt Ceiling Debate: Standing on Principle
Ten-year projected cuts, another frigging commission, no entitlement reform, a debt ceiling increase without a budget, and no balanced budget amendment…?  Are those the terms worth wagering next November’s election over?  Are they worth missing the opportunity to repeal ObamaCare before it destroys the health care system in this country and creates an entitlement program that will never be undone?  Call me a naysayer, but “NO” is the only word that comes to mind.
Computer

Let's make this fast before my computer freezes up again.  There is more, but my poor computer is acting beyond ornery right now.  I don't have an hour or more to put up a simple post.   The good news is my hubby's brand new custom built computer is due to be delivered any day and then, guess what?????  I'll be having a brand spanking new, guaranteed to be lightening fast, computer built.  Whoeeee!

Update on Angela

I want to thank all of you who have prayed or otherwise shown concern for my beautiful missing kitteh Angela. Tomorrow will be one week since we have seen her and we fear we never will see her again.  I suspect something nefarious.  My only consolation is knowing that at age 17 she has had a wonderful life starting from when we brought her home from the Humane Society.

My younger kitteh, Erica, is acting nervous and depressed even though Angela delighted in making Erica's life miserable.  I guess it proves that old saying about you can even miss getting hit over the head with hammer when it stops.

Obama campaigning on our dime...

again.

While perusing yet another debt ceiling article, this one at Fox News,  the following sentence jumped out at me:  Emphasis mine...
The kind of grand bargain that sends thrills up Washington legs was just never going to happen with a deadline eight days away and the most consequential presidential election in a generation already underway. source
My question is this:  Why in hell are these feckless morons in Washington, with Obama being the most feckless of them all, campaigning for an election taking place more than a year in the future?  They are not receiving a rather hefty salary to campaign but to do the job we sent them to do.

Obama took time off today from the ongoing Kubuki theater called negotiating to speak to La Raza, one of the most racist and subversive organizations in the country.  It is this sort of shenanigans that make people so angry.  Listen to this excerpt from his speech:
But we can’t just close our deficits by cutting spending . . .
And that’s why people from both parties have said that the best way to take on our deficit is with a balanced approach –- one where the wealthiest Americans and big corporations pay their fair share, too. (Applause.) Before we stop funding energy research, we should ask oil companies and corporate jet owners to give up special tax breaks that other folks don’t get. (Applause.) Before we ask college students to pay more to go to college, we should ask hedge fund managers to stop paying taxes that are lower in terms of rates than their secretaries. Before we ask seniors to pay more for Medicare — (applause) — before we ask seniors to pay more for Medicare, we should ask people like me to give up tax breaks that we don’t need and weren’t even asking for. (Applause.)
So, NCLR, that’s at the heart of this debate. Are we a nation that asks only the middle class and the poor to bear the burden? After they’ve seen their jobs disappear and their incomes decline over a decade? Are we a people who break the promises we’ve made to seniors, or the disabled, and leave them to fend for themselves?
Exactly what burden are the middle class and poor bearing?  They don't pay taxes and, in fact, in most cases get money back from the government.  Your money and my money.  And exactly who is suggesting we go after the seniors or the disabled?  Not only do we fund his campaigning but he manages to insult us while doing it.

As
The frightening thing here is not that Obama has gone into a political mode similar to that which we saw just before Election Day 2010, when he resorted to calling Republicans enemies, suggested without proof that foreign money was funding the Chamber of Commerce’s political work, said Republicans don’t want black people to vote and that they had a master plan to keep the economy from improving in order to seize power, and so on.

The frightening thing is that he believes this, in the idea that people with different philosophies than his are evil and un-American. It’s wrong when anyone – liberal or conservative – takes such a position. It’s scary when the president of all of us does.  read it all
Frightening indeed!!

The inevitable "psyching" of Anders Behring Breivik and assigning blame...

let's keep it simple and call him "crazy."

Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, right-wing religious fanatics, and the Tea Party appear to be responsible for a nut-case in Oslo to plant bombs and go on a shooting spree.  Now I understand that words like "crazy" and "nut-case" are likely to drive the community of licensed psych-type people up a wall, but they're perfectly adequate to describe this guy.

Listening to pundits proclaim all the possible triggers, influences, and past life history as being the "reason" this man was driven to commit unspeakable crimes is ludicrous.  If this were the case, we would have events like this taking place multiple times per day, every day.  If the mere reading of certain material was a trigger to antisocial behavior, then why in heaven's name would any parent allow their children to read Harry Potter?  Take a trip to any comment section on the Huffington Post and witness some real verbal violence.  How many of those people are running around blasting away anything except their big mouths?

I understand the need for humans to make sense of the senseless.  It makes us feel better to have an explanation.  Until the next big news item pushes this geek off the front pages, there will be articles ad nauseum about the possible reasons.  Each new article will make the claim of having the only correct answer to the age old of question of "why."

Let's keep this simple. Anders Behring Breivik is batshit crazy.  I don't care how he got that way because it's impossible to know because, you see, he's batshit crazy.  It's impossible to understand batshit crazy so why bother. Lock him up for the rest of his life and let's move on.

A Request

Angela  - Sept., 2010
Two nights ago our oldest kitteh, Angela, went outside about 7 pm.  We have not seen her since.  She is about 17 years old and this is not like her at all.  We have scoured the acreage, beating through the tall grasses, looking in every conceivable place, and have found not one sign of her.

Please pray for her safe return.  Thank you...

Singer Amy Winehouse Found Dead...

it was just a matter of time.

Sad...

Story here

Obama "summons" the other branches of government, "demands" explanation...

while we wait with bated breath for the latest press conference.

Maybe you're waiting with bated breathe, but I think I'll sit this one out.  Listening to the entire 31 minutes of Obama spewing nonsense yesterday has taxed my ability to suffer through even more of his blah, blah.

Allow me to add a bit to my prediction:
At the end of this Kabuki theater, we will have higher taxes, more spending, no significant cuts, and the debt ceiling will once again be raised.
About that "gang of six" proposal.  Could it have been the plan for them to present a proposal asking for higher taxes, thereby giving Obama the idea to renege on his original deal, giving Boehner the ability to call off the negotiations?  Obama raised his bet after the "gang of six" threw their chips on the table.

I voted for Mike Crapo, one of the "gang", and have had conversations with him.  He didn't appear to be a "raising taxes" kind of person. There is something going on that we don't know.  Actually, there's alot going on we don't know.

T. Christopher, over at Republican Redefined, has the best summary of the debt negotiations I've read today.

President Obama: More Full of Crap than the Hudson River

I hope I'm wrong about my prediction but at my advanced age, I've heard this song and dance for much longer than most of my readers.

If Obamba thought this was such an "urgent matter", perhaps he should have spent less time on the golf course, throwing lavish parties, and taking multiple vacays.  Just sayin'...

Sarah Speaks:

Lame Duck President

by Sarah Palin on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 7:11pm
After listening to the President’s press conference today, let’s keep in mind the following:

This is the same president who proposed an absurdly irresponsible budget that would increase our debt by trillions of dollars, and whose party failed to even put forward a budget in over 800 days! This is the same president who is pushing our country to the brink because of his reckless spending on things like the nearly trillion dollar “stimulus” boondoggle. This is the same president who ignored his own debt commission’s recommendations and demonized the voices of fiscal sanity who proposed responsible plans to reform our entitlement programs and rein in our dangerous debt trajectory. This is the same president who wanted to push through an increase in the debt ceiling that didn’t include any cuts in government spending! This is the same president who wants to slam Americans with tax hikes to cover his reckless spending, but has threatened to veto a bill proposing a balanced budget amendment. This is the same president who hasn’t put forward a responsible plan himself, but has rejected reasonable proposals that would tackle our debt. This is the same president who still refuses to understand that the American electorate rejected his big government agenda last November. As I said in Madison, Wisconsin, at the Tax Day Tea Party rally, “We don’t want it. We can’t afford it. And we are unwilling to pay for it.”

Now the President is outraged because the GOP House leadership called his bluff and ended discussions with him because they deemed him an obstruction to any real solution to the debt crisis.

He has been deemed a lame duck president. And he is angry now because he is being treated as such.

His foreign policy strategy has been described as “leading from behind.” Well, that’s his domestic policy strategy as well. Why should he be surprised that he’s been left behind in the negotiations when he’s been leading from behind on this debt crisis?

Thank you, GOP House leaders. Please don’t get wobbly on us now.

2012 can’t come soon enough.

Starting the weekend off right...

A recent sunset from my front yard...

God is watching...

And reaching out to us...

And sending angels disguised as butterflies...

Pray for the victims of Oslo...

Obama does his best Captain Queeg impersonation...

the meltdown continues.

Is it possible to lie for 31 minutes straight?

Why, yes.  Yes, it is!

I love the part where he threatens to withhold SS and disability checks again. Yes indeed.  Those seniors are going to be eating dog food.   If he wants to make cuts, how about taking back the 365 million of taxpayer dollars  the first woman is giving away to build grocery stores?  It's a good start.

Lots of talk about the "Gang of Six" plan and not until the end does he even mention anything about Cut, Cap, and Balance.  He invokes the name of Ronald Reagan while talking about "fairness" and brings up the "little people."  You know who they are.  They're the folks that aren't eating Kobe beef, playing golf every weekend, and getting ready to head off for another multi-million dollar vacay.

Pour your favorite adult beverage if you plan on watching this.

John Boehner manages to sound like an adult.  It's about time.  Good on him!

Breaking: Styrofoam cups to stay in WH cafeteria, the First Woman displays arm pits, and uses taxpayer money to have photo ops...

we are officially screwed.  Really!

The debt ceiling Kubuki theater continues.  But, not to worry.  The house voted 179-234 to keep the Styrofoam cups in the WH cafeteria.  What the hell is wrong with these fools?  We're not paying them a salary to sit around in Washington and debate the merits of Styrofoam vs some other form of cup.  H/T Red Dog Report via Weasel Zippers.

Allow me to remind you of my prediction:

Taxes will go up and the debt will rise. End of story.

Meantime, the secret meetings continue where people who could give a rip about this country are debating about how to spend our money. Once again, my little brain cannot wrap itself around this nonsense.  These people work for us, not the other way around.  How dare them meet in secret?  Is it so we won't know who's screwing us the worse?

One way they spend our money is to allow the first woman to fly around on our dime to campaign for her worthless husband while she steals the thunder of the people who really did the work of building a house.   In the process, we are treated to images that make us the laughing stock of the world.

Did Ty Pennington just let a whoopsie or was he overcome by the unspeakably beautiful sight of her armpits?  All the excruciating details are at MOTUS - and we thank her.

I Have Really Smart Friends

Something I learned early on (from someone way smarter than me), was to always surround yourself with the smartest people you could find and to copy what successful people do.

Yesterday I posted some links on Marxism, and today two of those people had more to say.  Jim Gourdie, of Conservatives on Fire, left a link to an article tying the Cold War and Marxism to the environmental movement from a fine site that is new to me:  The Truth Shall Set You Free:

*The Cold War Lives On: Gorbachev Exposes Global Communist Environmentalism Conspiracy.

Jim also reminded us of this:   Obama’s War Against Americans is Relentless. His Primary Attack Force is the EPA.

Yesterday, Always On Watch posted the Ten Planks of Marxism which I linked to.  Today she has it all wrapped in Agenda 21, the premier United Nations program designed to limit the rights of humans under the guise of designing eco-friendly and sustainable cities:  And The Logical Conclusion Is?

You see folks, none of this has anything to do with "saving Mother Earth."  It has to do with control.  It is the shoving of people into smaller and smaller areas, limiting their mobility with such things as electric cars, and controlling our food and energy sources.  A populace that is kept all squished up together with no real means of escape is an easily controllable populace.

Jim Gourdie sheds some light on the hijacking of the country:

Conservatives on Fire:   The Hijacking of the US Government Is All But Complete. Only the Debt Ceiling Law Stands in the Way.

Debt ceiling Kubuki continues while the first woman spends 365 million of your tax dollars to build grocery stores...

is there something wrong with this picture?

Wal-Mart, Walgreens and SuperValu are all going to get some of your money to open stores in what the "first woman" calls "food deserts."  I would think a company the size of Wal-Mart reaping billions in profits would be able to open a few stores without money that has been forcibly taken from the citizens of this country in the form of taxes.

I want to make sure I understand what is going on here.  On one side you have a president who is threatening grandma with the withholding of her social security check, while on the other side his wife is handing out money.  Our money!  This money is to be used to build grocery stores in areas where they will be unable to hire dependable and honest workers, where theft will be astronomical, and the probability of needing armed guards will be almost a certainty.

Several years ago, I made a trip back to St. Paul, MN and needed to pick up a few items. I headed over to the Target on University Ave, which is now mainly a minority area.  I was astonished to see armed guards at the front door and a store that was filthy and trashed.

The future of these new stores intended to serve people who presumably can't travel further than one mile to shop for groceries will be short.  But the 365 million will be gone. It is things like this that make sane people think they have slipped down a hole with Alice and are dancing with the rabbits.

Let's help Minot, ND...

it's free and easy.  Really!

The following was stolen entirely from one of my best buddies, Randy, who has a Roundtable.  (My strike- through and addition in blue.)
Most folks (who don't live under rocks) know of the devastating flood in Minot, ND recently.
Coca-Cola is running a contest that will reward one park in America with the most votes with $100,000. Right now, Oak Park in Minot (which was destroyed by the flooding) is running in second place in the voting. If you click HERE, and search for Minot on the map (**see below) you can cast a vote for Oak Park and move us a little closer to getting that $100,000 prize.
Also you can be a Democrat for a day or two...Yes, you can vote early and vote often! No limits on voting!
$100,000 grand will help  immensely.
Thanks to Rob at Say Anything for the tip!

**Allow me to add this to what Randy has said.  The easiest way to vote is to enter Minot under "city" on the top of the map and click on "GO."  That will eliminate all the other location balloons.  Click on the balloon and Oak Park will open up for voting.  It's simple, fast, and no registration is required.

Debt ceiling Kabuki theater continues, the Huffington Post causes migraines, and John Hawkins is an idiot...

but life goes on.

Prediction:

At the end of the debt talks we will have more debt and our taxes will be raised.  End of story.

Huffington Post

The worst migraine aura I've ever experienced happened after reading a HuffPo story and a bunch of comments.  I went on an expedition over there to  "know what the enemy is thinking" only to be reminded that the enemy doesn't think - they feeeeeeeeeeel.

John Hawkins

To make matters worse, I happened upon an article by John Hawkins, The Slow, Painful Coming Death Of The Independent, Conservative Blogosphere.  Ordinarily, I wouldn't link to a silly screed such as this but since I'm not a big important blogger like John, I hesitate to be miserly with my linky-love.  Because that's the only reason he posted that article.  It's called blog whoring.  It seems to be working, but not exactly how he expected.

Allow me to sum up his article to save you the pain of actually having to go and read it.  If you're a small independent conservative blogger, you may as well put a dagger in your heart and end it all. Consider yourself a loser, unlike John who is big, important, and loved by all.

Wandering in the wasteland called the Huffington Post...

and it's not pretty.

I wasted a few moments reading an article this morning over at Huffington Post by Frank Schaeffer, a failed film maker and mediocre author, in which he makes the assertion that the debt ceiling problem is a Born Again Religious Problem.

Mr.Schaeffer claims that he, along with his father, Francis Schaeffer, author of The Christian Manifesto, and other "influential" Christians, co-opted the Republican party back in the 1980's by stuffing it full of crazy "right wing" evangelical types who are surely going to bring down this country because they believe in Jesus - or something.  He takes credit for influencing his father to take on the issue of abortion. As a matter of fact, he takes credit for doing lots of things, and for being a major player in this take-down of the Republican party. Taking credit is what Schaeffer does best.

He starts off with a bang by throwing around the terms "educated" and "reasonable" because surely anyone who believes in a Higher Power is neither.  And the debt ceiling debate?  It's all the fault of crazy right-wing Christians.  This is, of course, on the heels of Shirley Jackson Lee informing us it's all about racism.  So confusing.
"Foreigners, visitors from another planet and Americans living in a bubble of reasonable or educated people might not know this but the reality is that the debt ceiling confrontation is by, for, and the result of, America's evangelical Christian control of the Republican Party. It is the ultimate expression of an alternate reality, one that has the mistrust of the US government as its bedrock "faith," second only to faith in Jesus."
It doesn't take him long to invoke Michele Bachmann as the "head crazy" of all time.
"To understand why an irrational self-defeating action like destroying the credit of the USA might seem like the right thing to do, you have to understand two things: that the Republican Party is now the party of religious fanatics and that these fanatics -- people like Michele Bachmann -- don't want to work within our system, they want to bring it down."
He claims later on in this article that his father's books were a major influence of Ms Bachmann's decision to enter politics.

It appears that Mr. Schaeffer's real problem is with his father. He even wrote a book, "Crazy for God", in which he trashes his father, mother, the way he was raised, and, in particular, evangelical Christians.

Allow me to sum up the main themes of Schaeffer's article.
  • If you are pro-life and don't believe in chopping up a baby before, or even after, it is born you are crazy.
  • If you believe in the Bible, you are crazy.
  • If you believe in the Constitution, you are crazy.
  • If you believe in limited government, you are crazy.
"To understand the extremism coming from the right, the fact that there are members of Congress who seem to be genuinely mentally unhinged leading the charge on the debt ceiling, you need to understand that this hatred of all things government has theological roots that have nothing to do with facts.
Theology is -- by nature -- not about reason but about faith. If God's will is to be served then so be it if America is plunged into chaos! This debt ceiling fiasco is just another chapter in the "culture" wars."
Actually, theology is rooted in both fact and faith.  Granted, for someone like Schaeffer, who for some reason seems to have lost his faith, and at 50 some odd years of life, is still rebelling against his father like some whiny teenager, the above statement makes perfect sense.

And the debt ceiling is not about "God's will", Mr. Schaeffer.  It's about a federal government that has ignored the powers enumerated to it in the Constitution, high-jacked the rights of the states and, by extension, the people.  It is about a government that no longer operates under the rule of law, but instead by regulation, fiat, and executive orders.  The debt ceiling is about a government that takes, by force if necessary, the earnings of Americans, to distribute as it sees fit,  without any real representation.  And that, Mr. Schaeffer, is unconstitutional.

The debt ceiling and the out of control spending of the government is rooted in the faith people place in the facts of math. Math doesn't lie.  If you spend more than you have you will go into debt. It's a fact. It's a fact in which even non-believers will place their faith.

"The extreme language of Evangelical/"pro-life" rebellion has now been repackaged in the debt ceiling showdown. It is the language of religion pitted against facts.
And the anti-government charge is being led by people who are either true believers, thus unable to reason, or people catering to the true believers so that they can remain in the good books of the Tea Party, which is nothing more than the Evangelical far right repackaged and renamed"
Wow!  If you go to church on Sunday, say some prayers, and believe that maybe something more than a big explosion was at the root of creation, you "are unable to reason."  That's pretty harsh, Frank.

Governor Moonbat 2.0, Mark Dayton of Minnesota, has given up...

sort of.

I knew when I read about the possibility of booze and cigs not being available because of the government shutdown it was all over.

However, Mr. Dayton is still throwing out "conditions."

To make a deal, the governor set the following conditions:
  • Remove policy issues
  • Drop 15 percent across the board in reductions to state employees in all agencies
  • Pass $500 million bonding bill
The Republican offer from June 30 included:
  • A shift in K-12 school aid payments from 70/30 to 60/40
  • Issuing tobacco bonds to cover the remaining gap
  • Increasing the per student formula by $50 per year to cover additional borrowing costs
  • Adding $10 million more to the University of Minnesota to equalize MnSCU cuts
  • Restoring funding to Department of Human Rights and Trade Office
He'll meet with Republicans at 2:00pm CDT

Confused about McConnel's debt ceiling proposal?...

you're not alone.

I've reached the point of not having a clue as to what's going on with the debt talks.  And why should I?  Everything is hush-hush and secretive.  Aren't you all tired of these elitist bastards in Washington playing games with our money?  Do you get a tingle up your leg when Obama calls you ignorant, tells you to "eat your peas" (what kind of dumb-ass thing is that for a president to say??), and threatens to deprive granny of her social security check when the facts say there is plenty of income and reserves for such an event to not happen?  Pundette puts that little statement in a deep, dark hole:  About those empty coffers

In the blogging world the advice is to always add something new to the discussion.  Well, how about this? I have nothing to add to the discussion.  I hear these elitist politicians endlessly talking about this cut and that cut, but never do I hear anything about the Department of Education, the EPA (one of the biggest and most dangerous job-killing departments ever dreamed up), or any of the  myriad of pork barrel  spending for bridges to nowhere, new casinos, or the studies of monkeys suffering from PMS.

To add even more insult we get a daily gloat review of the millions upon millions of dollars collected on both sides of the aisle by the different potential nominees to run for president.  It's obscene and should be stopped.
"[T]he sheer incompetence and, in some cases, mendacity, of the current crop of statist politicians in both the legislative and executive branches seem likely to bring on an economic crisis that will actually force Americans to decide between a constitutional restoration and a full embrace of statism. ... This pantomime deficit-reduction process is evidence that those in charge have lost their mental grip on the true dimensions of the fiscal crisis. Once they have lost their mental grip, their economic grip -- and then their political grip -- also will soon slip away, followed, perhaps, by a restoration of liberty." --columnist Tony Blankley  (H/T to Patriot Post via Political Brambles

Bungalow Bill's beloved Labrador, Kayleigh, was shot last week by persons unknown.  While she is recovering from her gunshot wound, which luckily was a through and through and missed her heart, there may be additional problems concerning the possibility of a tumor in her tummy.

If that is so, I'm sure his faithful readers (myself included) will be able to chip in a few bucks for the vet bills.

Out of Control in Quartzsite, AZ...

martial law declared?

Last week I posted the video of the woman in Quartzsite being arrested for speaking at a city council meeting.  According to the AP, the mayor, Ed Foster,  has been ousted and the city council, while meeting in private, declared the chief of police to be in charge of Quartzsite.
Mayor Ed Foster told The Associated Press on Monday that the town council held a last-minute meeting that was closed to the public Sunday night, declaring a state of emergency in the 3,600-person town just east of the California city of Blythe.
The council's declaration put police Chief Jeff Gilbert in charge, making Foster the "deputy chief executive of nothing right now," he said. It also allows the five-member council to meet without public notice and suspend all public comment at the meetings until they declare the state of emergency over.
According to the city council and the chief of police this is all a result of that pesky video of Jennifer Jones being denied her First Amendment rights to speak during an open comment period of a city council meeting.  I'm not so sure about that.

Again from the AP article:
Foster was elected in May 2010 on a campaign promise to investigate corruption allegations in the town.
He said since being in office, he has discovered that every pay period, eight to 10 paychecks go to unnamed people and that he has been denied access to financial records to find out where the money goes at every turn.
He said that's been happening since 1991 and amounts to $250,000 every year. "That's literally millions of dollars," he said.

I often traveled through Quartzsite when we lived in Sedona, AZ and wonder why anyone would fight over such a place.   No offense to the fine people of Quartzsite, but it's not the most lovely of places unless you love sand and cactus.  I'm more of a green grass and tree person.

The population swells during the winter with the caravans of seniors who RV in to enjoy the sun.  For me it always brought up images of the Grapes of Wrath.  Quartzsite is most famous for it's huge swap meets and gem shows where literally thousands of vendors gather under big tents and open air markets.

Obama sounds more like Captain Queeg every day...

is he becoming completely unhinged?

Best-selling authors?  Really??  Maybe if it was best-selling authors who owned private jets and drilled for oil on the side I could kind of understand it.

From Real Clear Politics:

Obama Warns Best-Selling Authors: You're Not "Off The Hook"

President Obama wants to let you know that no one is getting off the hook. Be it CEOs of Fortune 500 companies, corporate jet owners, hedge fund managers, or .... best-selling authors? Yes:

We weren't balancing the budget off of middle-class families and working-class families. And we weren't letting hedge fund managers or authors of best-selling books off the hook. That is a reasonable proposition.  view the video of Obama if you have the stomach for it

And promises to raise taxes in 2013.  Whooooeeeee - now there's a real good reason to vote this poseur back into office.

“Nobody’s looking to raise taxes right not, we’re talking about potentially 2013 and the out years.”

The case against re-electing Barack Hussein Obama...

for your talking points arsenal.

Joe Newby has done us all a service by providing a good amount of material to be added to our arsenal.  When your loony leftie friends need some facts, it is wise to have those lined up in a neat little row.

Barring Barry's impeachment (which he richly deserves but will never happen because he's 1/2 black), we're stuck with this sock-puppet until next year when he will, in my opinion, be voted out of office and into the history books as the worst president, ever.

Sunday Joe published part six, Barack Hussein Obama:  The destroyer of the American Nation

If you start with part 1, you can read a part a day until the end of the week.  How cool is that?

Part 1:  Who is this Barack Obama person, really?
Part 2:  The fight of the century:  Obama versus the Constitution
Part 3:  The cult of Barack Obama

Meantime:

Later all these self-important politicians will gather together to engage in the biggest time-waster ever invented by man - having a meeting.  What the hell is there to "meet" about?  These people sit in private and haggle the future of the country like they're buying a used car.  Transparency, indeed!

Suffering and Hope...

Welcome National Catholic Register readers.  Please read all of Father Speekman's article and take the time to bookmark his site.  He is a gem and a credit to the Catholic faith...

your "something to think about today" post.

Father John Speekman, at Homilies from Australia, brings us the real message of hope.
To speak of suffering is to speak of human experience. We all suffer and, at various times of our life, most of us suffer acutely. Even here, right now in this Church, in this particular congregation there are people suffering, and some intensely. Suffering is not just a matter of pain. There probably isn't anyone here undergoing unbearable pain at the moment but I'm betting there are people here experiencing terrible suffering:
  • a spouse, husband or wife, who no longer loves you
  • a son or daughter walking a road you see will lead to unhappiness, or worse still, destruction
  • children no longer practicing the faith
  • the terminal illness of a loved one
  • unpayable bills
  • slavery to gambling, drugs, alcohol
  • serious divisions in the family
On and on it goes; there is suffering everywhere.
You need to read the rest in order to get the hopey part...

I have much work to do outside.  Have a wonderful Sunday.  I'll be back later...

Timothy Geithner plans to stay...

according to Weasel Zippers.

One of our pocket gophers.  Just sayin...

It's Sunday...

the sun is shining, the temperature is going to be perfect, and God is still in charge.

Sarah Palin speaks out on Obama and debt:

From her Facebook page:

The Sugar Daddy Has Run Out of Sugar; Now We Need New Leaders
Barack Obama’s big government policies continue to fail. He should put a link to the national debt clock on his BlackBerry. The gears on that clock have nearly exploded during his administration. Yesterday’s terrible job numbers should not be a surprise because it all goes back to our debt. Our dangerously unsustainable debt is wiping out our jobs, crippling our economic growth, and jeopardizing our position in the global economy as the leader of the free world.
[...]But let me tell you where real hope lies. It’s not the hopey-changey stuff we heard about in 2008. Real hope comes from realizing how God has blessed our exceptional nation, and then doing something about it. We have been blessed with natural resources, hardworking entrepreneurs, and a Constitution that preserves the greatest form of government ever devised by man. If we develop those natural resources, allow our entrepreneurs to keep and invest more of what they earn, and adhere to the time-tested truths of our Constitution, we will prosper and endure.
But first and foremost we must tackle our debt. We don’t have the luxury of playing politics as usual. We need real leaders who will put aside their own political self-interest to do what is right for the nation. And if they don’t emerge… well, America has a do-over in November 2012.
