Welcome Joe Miller twitter followers. We love Joe in Idaho!
Waiting to greet us at the event center in Post Falls was a small group of protesting teachers or, as Tom Luna, our state superintendent of schools, who recently managed to get sweeping school reform passed, calls them, "my fan club."
Notice, unlike the ugly screaming harridans in Wisconsin, Idaho's teachers are pretty, perky, polite, smiling, and act like ladies. Because that's how we do things in Idaho - thank you very much!
I'm not much good at estimating crowd size, but about 2,000 happy and energetic tea-party folks showed up to hear Tom Luna and Joe Miller speak.
Tom Luna did an outstanding job of explaining the recent school reform legislation (introduced by my friend Bob Nonini) and passed just a few weeks ago.

Joe Miller was an exceptional speaker and even managed to give a big shout out to our number one "tourist attraction" as he called it - Dave Smith Motors. Alaskans come here by the hundreds to buy cars and drive them back to Alaska.
After the rally, several of us stayed behind and were able to spend about an hour chatting with Joe and his beautiful wife, Kathleen. It was difficult to take any decent pictures inside the building, so I've substituted a picture of Kathleen that I found on line. The one photo I took of her didn't turn very well, and she's much too nice to have such a horrible picture posted.

Yesterday, Justin left this comment:
Well Justin, Joe isn't going anywhere soon. Like Palin, he's not easily cowed. And as to Murkowski pulling a fast one? Without giving details (which wouldn't be right at this time) allow me to say, "that saga isn't over yet." So be watching for more news on that stolen election.Justin said...
Hey Adrienne: I know it's pretty early still, but did you get the sense that the Millers have intentions of pursuing a political future? Admittedly, I don't know a lot about Joe, but I think he got a raw deal in that Murkowski showdown and I'd love to see him get the chance to show the people what he's capable of.
I spent most of my time with Kathleen because she, like me, could talk to a fence post. Their favored person to run would be Jim DeMint, but they backed up what has been said about his not running.
When Kathleen was asked if they saw anyone in the republican field that was a "standout" for nomination, her answer was a simple, "No." That's not good news for us. At the mention of The Donald we received a hearty roll of the eyes.
The most shocking, but not surprising, things we discussed was how nasty the "good ol' boy" network operates in DC and how horribly they were treated by their own party. It's not hard to understand when you realize that the Millers are a happily married couple with eight children who "cling to their religion."
Speaking of clinging. Check out our next rally:

As an AK'n that knows the Millers, it is nice to see those on the "outside" gain an appreciation for them!
The situation this past fall was really an unfortunate one, and we are paying dearly for it as a state. Hopefully the shenanigans Murkowski is playing with her politics will finally wake folks up and we will have different folks in office moving forward.
Way to blog about this!
my comment on your July post fits here:
Joe Miller (West Point grad-and Veteran) should be Senator Miller -the R elites -went up to 'help' RINO -little Lisa M- and she "won" with a - in my opinion-fraudulent write in---
Thanks for the heads up--
