Stagger Lee...

the real Stagger Lee...

With all due respects to Blazing Cat Fur (who I dearly love) their post of the Collins Kids is an insult to anyone who admires vintage music.

The little twerp in the posted video with a double neck guitar is a scam and brings shame on the music industry.

A statement from my master musician husband:

Those of us in the music business 60 years ago, knew that the Collins Kids, particularly,  Tommy Collins, just because he could jump around like Chuck Berry, didn't mean he was a real musician.  Most of us took it as an affront that he was considered as a "real" musician.

This is the real Stagger Lee...

From Digital Hairshirt:
If you ardently support same-sex marriage, or if you ardently support one man/one woman marriage, then you should join together to admonish your friends who are living together and just "shacking up," and tell them their love is not as strong or as relevant as that between two spouses.

Because if you feel that strongly about marriage, then it applies across the board and those folks are just playing married.

This song was written in honor of the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans, who did not receive the hero's welcome that they deserved when they came home from the fight. This song was written for and performed at the 13th Combat Aviation Battalion Reunion at Fort Rucker, Alabama, held on May 15, 2010. Who really owns the money in your savings account?...

hint: it's not you.

I know this is a holiday weekend and readership will be low - as it should be.  Spending time with family and friends is important.  If you are lucky enough to have three days off, spend a wee bit of that time reading a few of the articles I've linked, and discussing your future with your family.  As with everything you read, do your own research and "trust but verify."

In our household we believe in being prepared.  No - we don't have a gazillion years of food put away and haven't built a bunker.  We do have a nice pantry and if we are snowed in or the electricity goes off for an extended period (both have happened), we will be cozy, fed, and - most importantly, we will have coffee.

But what's going to happen to the people who have only stocked up with three cans of beans and a twelve pack of toilet paper?  Have you ever seen a grocery store after a major weather event is forecast?  It takes no more than a few hours for the store shelves to be emptied.  Suppose this event continued for several weeks or even months?

There is no doubt in our minds that things are not going well in this country, which is an understatement.  Is the possibility of an economic meltdown inevitable, bringing with it widespread unrest and riots?  Frankly, I don't know. People who are hungry do crazy things.   What I do know is that we'll be ready because it's the prudent thing to do.

From: Global Research:

No Bank Deposits Will Be Spared from Confiscation

I challenge anyone to prove me wrong that confiscation of bank deposits is legalized daylight robbery

Bank depositors in the UK and USA may think that their bank deposits would not be confiscated as they are insured and no government would dare embark on such a drastic action to bail out insolvent banks.

Before I explain why confiscation of bank deposits in the UK and US is a certainty and absolutely legal, I need all readers of this article to do the following:

Ask your local police, sheriffs, lawyers, judges the following questions:

1) If I place my money with a lawyer as a stake-holder and he uses the money without my consent, has the lawyer committed a crime?
2) If I store a bushel of wheat or cotton in a warehouse and the owner of the warehouse sold my wheat/cotton without my consent or authority, has the warehouse owner committed a crime?
3) If I place monies with my broker (stock or commodity) and the broker uses my monies for other purposes and or contrary to my instructions, has the broker committed a crime?

I am confident that the answer to the above questions is a Yes!

However, for the purposes of this article, I would like to first highlight the situation of the deposit / storage of wheat with a warehouse owner in relation to the deposit of money / storage with a banker.
First, you will notice that all wheat is the same i.e. the wheat in one bushel is no different from the wheat in another bushel. Likewise with cotton, it is indistinguishable. The deposit of a bushel of wheat with the warehouse owner in law constitutes a bailment. Ownership of the bushel of wheat remains with you and there is no transfer of ownership at all to the warehouse owner.

And as stated above, if the owner sells the bushel of wheat without your consent or authority, he has committed a crime as well as having committed a civil wrong (a tort) of conversion – converting your property to his own use and he can be sued.

Let me use another analogy. If a cashier in a supermarket removes $100 from the till on Friday to have a frolic on Saturday, he has committed theft, even though he may replace the $100 on Monday without the knowledge of the owner / manager of the supermarket. The $100 the cashier stole on Friday is also indistinguishable from the $100 he put back in the till on Monday. In both situations – the wheat in the warehouse and the $100 dollar bill in the till, which have been unlawfully misappropriated would constitute a crime.

Keep this principle and issue at the back of your mind.

Now we shall proceed with the money that you have deposited with your banker.  READ THE REST

have I mentioned the IRS will be overseeing your healthcare?

On a brighter note, over at Huff and Puff, of the over 7000 comments about Lois Lerner taking the 5th almost 100% of them are against Obama.  Now tell me again about his high approval ratings.

I apologize for not answering comments and the lack of posts.  The overload of both my outside work, my three day work schedule, and the unending scandals has left me worn out and dispirited.  I believe Alinsky would call it "overloading the system."

I also apologize to those of you who have linked to me.  I never look at my statcounter anymore and really have no way of telling who is linking.  If you link to me, please let me know in the combox so you can be properly acknowledged.

I think Odie, over at Woodsterman, has the right idea - he went fishing!  He's also celebrating his 4th blogoversary.  Head over and wish him well.

I did, however, manage to get my tomatoes planted (see pic below.)  They look droopy because it's been raining all night and it's still drizzling.  More lettuce, kale, and spinach was planted, as well as radishes (radishai?) The eggplants are waiting patiently in the cold frame for planting next to the tomatoes.

Most of the tomatoes I started were heirloom San Marzano The rest were Beefsteak with a few Brandywine I added a store bought Super Sweet 100 cherry tomato and an Early Girl

The section of the garden to the right in front of the compost bins is for Roma beans, cucumbers, zucchini, yellow squash, and basil.

The flower towers are built and will be planted (as soon as the rain stops) with the gazillion petunias already sitting in the barn.  The suckers have all been trimmed from the bases of the trees which just about killed my right leg.  I'm getting too old for all that up and down stuff and crawling around on the ground!

I don't think this IRS thingy is going away...

no siree...

I just listened to Obama make a statement in which he expressed his "outrage."

Since Odumbo is always "being clear", allow me to be clear:

Do they really think the American people, even those on the left, are going to believe that a few "rogue" employees at the IRS decided all on their own to target conservatives?  Exactly what would the purpose be and what would they gain?  And are we also supposed to believe that these few "rogue" employees were never monitored by supervisors?

I don't believe that anyone is that stupid.

Meanwhile, while we're all embroiled in these ongoing revelations, what's going on with immigration?

Obama's statement of outrage:
"I've reviewed the Treasury Department's watchdog report and the misconduct that it uncovered is inexcusable. It's inexcusable and Americans have a right to be angry about it and I am angry about it. I will not tolerate this kind of behavior in any agency but especially in the IRS given the power that it has and the reach that it has in all of our lives. And as I said earlier, it should not matter what political stripe you're from, the fact of the matter is that the IRS has to operate with absolute integrity. The government general has to conduct itself in a way that is true to the public trust, that's especially true for the IRS. So here's what we're going to do. First, we're going to hold the responsible parties accountable. Yesterday I directed Secretary Lew to follow up on the IG audit to see how this happened and who was responsible and to make sure that we understand all of the facts. Today Secretary Lew took the first step by requesting and accepting the resignation of the acting commissioner of the IRS because given the controversy surrounding this audit, it's important to institute new leadership that can help restore confidence going forward. Second, we're going to put in place safe guards to make sure this kind of behavior can't happen again and I have directed Secretary Lew to make sure the IRS implements the IG's recommendations right away. Third, we will work with Congress as it performs its oversight roll and our administration has to make sure that we are working hand-in-hand with Congress to get this thing fixed. Congress, Democrats and Republicans owe it to the American people to treat that authority with the responsibility it deserves and in a way that doesn't smack of politics or partisan agendas because I think one thing you've seen across the board is that everybody agrees what happened in as reported in the IG report is an outrage. The good news is it's fixable and it's in everybody's best interest to fix it. I'll do everything in my power to make sure nothing like this ever happens again by holding the responsible parties accountable, by putting in place new checks and new safe guards and going forward by making sure the law is applied as it should be in a fair and impartial way and we're going to have to make sure the laws are clear so that we can have confidence that they are enforced in a fair and impartial way and that there isn't too much ambiguity when it comes to these laws. That's what I expect, that's what the American people deserve and that's what we're going to do.

look what's happening in Chicago.

I so knew this sort of thing was going to happen.  Bet they all voted for Obama.

From Second City Cop:

 City Retirees Moved to ObamaCare
Better start rethinking that retirement if you haven't already:
Chicago will phase out its 55 percent subsidy for retiree health care by January 2017 but continue that coverage for the oldest retirees, under a mayoral plan that will free taxpayers from a $108.7 million a year burden. Thirty thousand retired city employees will be forced to switch to Obamacare.
[...]More than 35,000 government retirees have been on pins and needles waiting to find out whether Mayor Rahm Emanuel will continue their city-subsidized health insurance after June 30, when a 10-year settlement agreement that calls for the city to share costs with retirees is due to expire.
They are not likely to be relieved when they find out how Emanuel has decided to resolve the politically volatile issue.  read the rest

Who are the real enemies of the USA?...

trees, meet forest.

Does Obama really know what's going on?  Probably not, nor does he care.  As a malignant narcissist, who cares only about flying around in his tax-payer supported really big plane, hobnobbing with the scum of Hollywood, and golfing - that is, when he's not playing basketball and watching ESPN, he is, no doubt, not interested nor is he kept in the loop.

I believe him when he repeatably says, "I found out about this or that when you, the little people, did."  Or, "I had no notion of such a thing being said about Benghazi."  Really?

His handlers purposely keep him busy flying all over the country to talk to high school kids and raising money for the democratic party.

The IRS is targeting conservatives.  Do the low-info voters not understand that the same corrupt agency is  going to be doling out their health care?

We're supposed to be upset because the AP had a bunch of their phones tapped?  These are the people that have been carrying Obama's water for years.  Dead bodies in Benghazi?  Just some disposable people that were sacrificed to satisfy the machine.

So the question is:  Is there any independent thinker left in this country who does not realize that we are dealing with something much larger than the loser in the White House and his paid flacks like Jay Carney?  I've never believed in the idea that there was a central conspiracy to take down the United States.  That would require a large group of people to act in concert, something that is an impossibility due to the nature of humans.  But, there should be no denying that there may be several groups struggling to rearrange this country in order fill their own coffers.

I was against the concept of impeachment, which I might remind you does not automatically mean his skanky skinny ass will be thrown out of office, because I didn't think it would work due to a majority of democrats in the Senate.  However, many of those senators are up for re-election in 2014.  If the American public becomes disgusted enough these senators will gleefully throw Obama off the cliff to insure their re-election.

The upside is listening to Jay Carney being thrashed in the White House briefing which is ongoing live from C-Span.

Obama and the IRS...

dealing with devil.

I am the Face of the Obama IRS Attacks

 From:  Wayne Allyn Root
We are dealing with a modern-day Nixon.

The IRS just admitted to targeting and intimidating conservative and Tea Party groups. But why? The answer- the IRS thought a quick apology and throwing a few “low level employees” under the bus could nip it in the bud and make it all go away. They’re wrong. This will be one of the biggest scandals in U.S. political history- if the media does their job.

This IRS scandal is a threat to everything America stands for. It’s why we fought a revolution against King George. It’s one of the main ways the left brought down Richard Nixon- they accused Nixon of targeting political opponents with IRS attacks to intimidate and silence them. These attacks were prominently included in Nixon’s “Articles of Impeachment” and should be in Obama’s too- if the media does their job.

How do I know?

Because I am the face of Obama’s IRS attacks. I am proof of how bad it is, when it started, that it was directed at individuals as well as groups, and that it did not involve only “low level IRS employees.”  read the rest

Bishop Tobin to Catholics of Rhode Island on "same-sex marriage"...

well said, Bishop Tobin.

As the Rhode Island General Assembly prepares to pass “same-sex marriage” legislation and the Governor scheduled to sign the bill this afternoon, Bishop Tobin offers the following pastoral letter to Catholics in Rhode Island.  The contents of this letter will be printed in the May 9, 2013 edition of Rhode Island Catholic Newspaper.

My dear Brothers and Sisters,

Since the legislative approval of “same-sex marriage” in Rhode Island, a number of people have requested that I offer some guidance on this development. It is for that purpose that I write at this time. In particular I wish to invite members of the Catholic Church in Rhode Island to a moment of prayer and reflection as we respond to this new challenge of the post-Christian era into which, clearly, we have now entered.

First, like many others, I am profoundly disappointed that Rhode Island has approved legislation that seeks to legitimize “same-sex marriage.” The Catholic Church has fought very hard to oppose this immoral and unnecessary proposition, and we are most grateful to all those who have courageously joined us in this effort. When all is said and done, however, we know that God will be the final judge of our actions.

As I have emphasized consistently in the past, the Catholic Church has respect, love and pastoral concern for our brothers and sisters who have same-sex attraction. I sincerely pray for God’s blessings upon them, that they will enjoy much health, happiness and peace. We also offer our prayerful support to families, especially parents, who often struggle with this issue when it occurs in their own homes.
Our respect and pastoral care, however, does not mean that we are free to endorse or ignore immoral or destructive behavior, whenever or however it occurs. Indeed, as St. Paul urges us, we are required to “speak the truth in love.” (Eph 4:15)

At this moment of cultural change, it is important to affirm the teaching of the Church, based on God’s word, that “homosexual acts are intrinsically disordered,” (Catechism of the Catholic Church, #2357) and always sinful. And because “same-sex marriages” are clearly contrary to God’s plan for the human family, and therefore objectively sinful, Catholics should examine their consciences very carefully before deciding whether or not to endorse same-sex relationships or attend same-sex ceremonies, realizing that to do so might harm their relationship with God and cause significant scandal to others.

Despite this serious regression in the public morality of our state we need to recognize that there are other major issues that demand our attention. We must continue to engage our culture, remembering that Jesus called us to be “the salt of the earth and the light of the world.” (Mt 5:13-14) Be assured, therefore, that the Catholic Church in the Diocese of Providence will continue its mission of preaching the Gospel, advocating for what is right and just, and serving the needs of our community to the very best of our ability.

Without a doubt this is a time of challenge, even disappointment for many of us, but it is also an opportunity to be steadfast and courageous, and to renew our commitment to Christ and His Church. As our Lord Jesus Christ told us, “In the world you will have trouble, but take courage, I have conquered the world.” (Jn 16:33)

Dear brothers and sisters, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother, the Virgin Mary, may God be with you as you continue your journey of faith, and may He bless you and your families with His finest gifts, now and always.

may God bless her and keep her in his loving arms.

Update:

Carol, proprietor of Amusing Bunni's Musings blog, passed away last Sunday from an aggressive cancer that was only diagnosed shortly before last Thanksgiving.

I apologize to anyone who thought "Bunni" was, well - a bunny.  On the other hand, Carol would find it amusing.   ;-)

Update 2:

Opus, of American Perspective, has pictures given to her by Carol to be posted after her death.  Our Bunni was not only beautiful on the inside, she was beautiful on the outside.

RIP Bunni!
You brought great joy, laughter, and love to all of your fans.
