Discovering Blogging/A Path to Hell

Hi everyone.  I'm showing one of dinner guests how easy it is to set up a blog and actually post something.  Hang tight for a picture...

Wow - you too can waste your entire life sitting in front of your computer.  The gates of hell are opening and are is sucking my friend in - feet first...

Sunday Funnies are up at The Reaganite Republican

Terry has found some words of wisdom for us: Real Catholic....More Internet Precautions

The Digital Hairshirt has some harsh words for crazy politicians and parking fees.  Holy carp! I never heard of paying for parking at a grocery store.

Money Quote of the Day
A prophet is a man with a dangerous mission. He is not called to singlehandedly rescue the beautiful princess from the tower, nor to save the world from the killer aliens. The mission of the prophet is far more dangerous because, even though his life will be at risk at every moment, he is not to take any weapons to defend himself.

The prophet is called to stand, unarmed, in the market place, in the church, on the radio or on the television and – speak the word of God.  Father John Speekman Homily 4th Sunday/Ordinary Time
I'm heading off to church to give my best imitation of a "devout" Catholic (whatever the heck that is), and then will finish dinner preparations for our small dinner party this evening. I posted the menu at Adrienne dePitera 'cause it makes me look like some kind of gourmet cook.

I really think it's important to get away from all the political crimes posturings of our elected officials.  It just can't be healthy to wallow in this stuff 24/7.  Thankfully our guests this evening are into music, work-working (oooops - wood-working - although work-working works too), and model railroads - all things I love.

Pelosi Belongs Behind Bars

This doesn't even make me angry - it makes me sick to my stomach.  Why is this going on??  These people need to be behind bars!

It's a Pithy Kind of Day...

It's no secret that I like Mark Steyn, and it's not just because of his dreamy eyes or, as my mother would say, his overall "white bread" appearance (it's true - opposites attract!)  No - just like guys always claiming they get Playboy just to read the fine articles (yeah, right!), my primary attraction to Mark is his fine writing.  He, like moi, likes to "cut to the chase."  Unlike moi, he does it so much better.  I'm jealous!

More Washington by Mark Steyn
As Obama sees it, whatever the problem, the solution is more Washington.
[...]  "As my colleague Rich Lowry put it after the Massachusetts vote, the public thinks Obama doesn’t get it, and Obama thinks the public doesn’t get it. And as he’s got the microphone, he’s gonna keep talking at you until you do get it.

The ever tinnier, more perfunctory sophomoric uplift at the start and finish can’t conceal the hope-killing, jobs-slaying, soul-sapping message in between, which is perfectly consistent, and has been for two years. As President Obama sees it, whatever the problem — from health care to education, banking to the environment — the solution is more Washington."

Peter Schiff has lots of years and experience in the field of economics. I listen to him because of his expertise.  One thing I do know and can sum up in my "cut to the chase" modus operandi is this:
  1. The Government does not create jobs
  2. In order for any government, business, or home to be successful, it must make more than it spends.
  3. You cannot buy your way out of debt.
  4. Life is simple if you just don't overthink it...

There is no doubt that President Obama is one of the most polarizing and divisive people to ever inhabit the White House.  About the only "person" in this country that hasn't been insulted, belittled, or marginalized is his dog Bo.  Watch out Bo - there's still room under that bus...

I know such smart people!  I read President Obamas Catch 22 over at my buddy Mark's place and lo and behold Smitty, over at The Other McCain,  picked it up and ran with it and produced even more great observations with The Center Can Be No-Man’s Land.  It bears repeating - it's not what you know, but who you know.  Over the past several years, I've been privileged to meet some very smart people.

I've made some additions to my blogroll including Pundit and Pundette, who were nice enough to link to me. I've been reading them for quite some time, but in my usual scattered ADD manner, took  awhile to actually get them up and running here.  I need a life coach. Really!

I'm having a small dinner party tomorrow night so blogging will be slower than usual.  The good Lord knows we all need a bit of a break.

I'll be posting the menu at Adrienne dePitera (if you're interested)

Some Truths are Worth Repeating

From datechguy:

The cut to the chase business on Abortion.

Yesterday I was listening to the pro-choice argument of a person I knew, the whole: “I don’t like abortion but I think I don’t have a right to forbid someone from having one.” argument. The gentleman who volunteered his thoughts sounding so reasonable so tolerant, asked my opinion on the subject. read the rest

Reality Strikes Again

Just days ago I posted about reality and those who were disconnected from it were a bit, to put in non politically correct terms,  insane.  More and more that theme keeps popping up in articles.  Dr. Sanity does her usual great job of reminded us that someone disconnected from reality has degenerated into sociopathy.
[...]The traditional medical definition of sociopathy is a personality disorder characterized by a lack of social responsibility and failure to adapt to ethical and social standards of the community.

If we think about that definition for a moment, we can perhaps begin to understand what is going on in our world today; and the reason that a huge number of people have embraced a sociopathic lifestyle. read the rest

Tim Tebow and that "offensive" ad

As we get closer to Super Bowl Sunday, the pro-abortion crowd is ramping up to a fever pitch against Tim Tebow's ad.  It is disturbing and disheartening to witness women, the very people who should be nurturing and compassionate, turn on another woman who chose to give birth rather than have an abortion. We saw it happen to Sarah Palin when she chose life for her Down Syndrome child.

These same women are the ones who championed birth control, fostering a society where women are used like disposable tissues and discarded like so much trash.  The feminist movement has convinced women that real freedom is mocking men and dressing like tramps. Take a stroll through any mall in America and check out girls as young as 8 or 9 dressed like common streetwalkers.  What father would allow his daughter to present herself in this manner?

This same feminist movement has castrated the males of our culture.  Now we glorify "metro-sexual" men - more concerned with their hair and clothes than being a real man.  A real man loves and cherishes his wife just as Jesus loves us. Oh, I forgot. Jesus is a man. Why should we listen to Him?  Silly me...

Palin on the ad:
PALIN: Well, I'll tell you, the message is about strengthening women and it speaks to the power and the wisdom of women and the nurturing spirit of women. It certainly isn't an offensive message. For now to have chosen this, picking a wrong battle, I think -- to have chosen this to come across sounding quite offended by hearing that a pro-life commercial will air on the Super Bowl day, it's baffling. I mean, there are so many offensive commercials out there. And there's commercials out there that belittle women and demean them and make them feel like sex objects. And I haven't heard a lot of protests from NOW on that. This is an inspiring and encouraging message. Pam Tebow -- she made the world a better place, giving her son life. What is so offensive about hearing her story in a little 60-second sound bite? I look forward to hearing it.  Fox News interview, Jan. 28, 2010

State of the Union and Governor Bob McDonnell

I spent 70 minutes of my life watching the excruciatingly boring speech given last night - one that could easily be called a campaign speech. The only jaw dropping moment was when he attacked the Supreme Court's recent decision striking down limits on corporate spending in election campaigns.  Once again he highlighted his narcissism and, what could only be called, lack of class.

Allow me to sum it up:
  1. It's Bush's fault
  2. Blah, Blah, Blah
  3. Bankers and "rich" people are evil so we're going to tax them out of existence
  4. Blah, Blah, Blah
  5. He's going to help "small" business become "big" business so he can tax them out of existence
  6. Blah, Blah, Blah
  7. He's going to interfere even more in education
  8. Blah, Blah, Blah
  9. He's doubling down on health insurance reform
  10. Blah, Blah, Blah
  11. Aren't I great?
  12. and he finished with Blah, Blah, Blah
I would rather give airtime to the Republican response given by the newly minted Republican Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell.  He managed in 10 minutes to sum it all up - get government out of our lives.

Tim Tebow, Black Genocide, & The State of the Union w/ Update

Tonight, we are to be treated to the spectacle of Obama's first state of the union address, one that I predict few people will even bother viewing.  I, however, in deference to and showing great love for my readers, most of whom would rather poke out their eyes with an ice pick than watch Obama spout nonsense syllables, will dutifully turn on my TV in order to give future pithy commentary (all without the help of mind numbing drugs - ain't I grand??)

I wouldn't want to miss the "Look, let me be clear" president telling us, once again, how he brought us back from the brink of certain disaster caused by Boooooooosh, saved or created one gazillion jobs, will freeze discretionary spending while at the same time calling for a "jobs" (don't call it stimulus) bill costing our nearly bankrupt country billions, reminding us that without his health care bill, people will be dropping like cockroaches after a major bug-spray program, all the while giving himself a "solid B+.  No sirree! Wouldn't want to miss that!

On February 7th, the next great spectacle will occur.  It's called the Super Bowl.  It is much like the Roman games of old except without the lions.  I predict the ratings will be way higher for the Super Bowl than for the State of the Union address.

There has been a bunch of lunatics really, really upset with an ad, paid for by Focus on the Family, featuring Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, Tim Tebow.  While scooting around The Blog Prof's site this morning, I watched a video he posted of Bill O'Reilly interviewing Jehmu Greene, president of the Women's Media Center.

If you need a perfect example of the thinking (?) encountered when dealing with a radical "pro-choice" person, I urge you to pop over and watch this video.  What I find most remarkable is the fact that Ms. Greene is a negro African-American black woman.  Does she not know that abortion facilities like Planned Parenthood are located in mostly disadvantaged neighborhoods for a reason?  Does she not realize about 13 percent of American women are black, but they account for over 37 percent of the abortions?  If we lived in Africa, it would be called genocide.  But we don't live in Africa - so we call it "choice."

Update:  Head over to Bad Habit and read the fine post on "Choice."  Excellent!!

Health Care and Reality w/ Update

While I am happy about the election of Scott Brown, I am still quite sure the "evil three", Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are going to find some way to pass ObamaCare.  I hope I'm wrong!

by Dick Morris and  Eileen McGann

On the day before what is sure to be labeled a "historic" State of the Union by the MSM, in which Obama will utter "unprecedented" nonsense syllables, a bit of humor is in order.

Update: What did I just tell you???
"I hope the President will use this historic moment to shine the spotlight on our troubling fiscal policies and lay out his plan for addressing these challenges head-on," Rep. Brad Ellsworth, D-Indiana, said in a press release.

Head over to Amusing Bunni's Musings and check out the email she received from Organizing for America inviting her to attend a State of the Union Watch Party or have one of her own.

Curious to see how many parties were scheduled for our area, I plunked in zips for Coeur d' Alene, Post Falls, and Spokane on the Organizing site.  Only one gathering is scheduled for the entire area and that would be at the Democratic headquarters in Spokane at the aptly named "Toad Hall."  Can't make this stuff up!

Ronald Reagan and Honesty

The single thing I find most alarming about our current President and the people who surround him is their ability to lie with such ease.  They will look you right in the eye and utter the most outrageous statements that contradict what they have said before, or be so blatantly false that only a fool would believe them.

In 1968, Ronald Reagan wrote to his daughter Patty while she was attending The Orme School in Arizona.  Patty had turned herself in to school authorities for breaking a school rule. Reagan told her that she did the right thing by turning herself in, but he was most disturbed about her having resorted to "tricks and deception" in order to break this rule. He and Patty's mother were "concerned that you can establish a pattern of living wherein you accept dishonesty as a way of life."  In his letter he explained his concerns for her:
"Let's turn from you and translate it into someone else. Would you be happy if you weren't sure that I was quite honest? Would you be comfortable if you had to wonder whether you could believe things I said?  Or if perhaps now you had to worry that maybe I was being dishonest in this job -- that some day the paper would carry a story exposing me as a lawbreaker?  You know the answer of course.

But don't you see  - compromising with truth, no matter how trivial, does something to us.  The next time it serves our purpose we do it again and again and one day we find ourselves in trouble and we're not quite sure why or how." Ronald Reagan, March 5, 1968 from Reagan, A Life in Letters
This President and his minions are people without honor.  They have an agenda - one that is not in the best interests of this country. And they will stop at nothing to carry it out. Their heroes are the likes of Saul Alinsky, Cloward and Piven, and tin-pot murdering dictators. This President has brought communists and  tax-cheats into the center of power.  He bows to Muslims, insults the citizens of this country, and ridicules his opponents.

On Wednesday, he will give his state-of-the-union address to this nation. He will tell us that he has "saved or created" a gazillion jobs even though the unemployment rate is the highest it's been since 1948.  He will remind you of the terrible situation he inherited from his predecessor, while he has spent our money at a rate never before experienced in this country. He will tell you he "feels your pain" and everything he is doing is for you.

And the worse thing he will no doubt say is "he's not giving up."  Oh no - this effete poseur is planning on doubling down on his horrendous plans.  He is nothing more than a dangerous puppet who will bribe, cheat, and tell whatever lies are necessary, to please his handlers.

Remember the words of Ronald Reagan when you listen to this despicable human being on Wednesday, for he is a man who doesn't even remember the meaning of the word truth.

Rule Five Sunday and Some Linky Love

Look closely.  See any gorgeous men?  That's because I have nothing to offer for this important day of the week.  My bad.

However, Smitty, over the The Other McCain, has so many wonderful Rule 5 Sunday links posted it should keep the most salacious of you busy for the rest of the night.  How many does he have?  So many he needed to split them into Part 1 and Part 2.

Some new additions to my blogroll (that soon, very, very soon, I will reorganize - promise)

Hack Wilson, a man who  "hates liberalism and political correctness with a passion", pulls no punches.  Visit Hack and say hi!

My blogger buddy RightKlik brought to my attention the newest news site called Ui2............and, he's one of their featured sites.  I took a cruise by there and was very impressed. Be sure and click on the UberBlog link on top for a whole 'nother page of goodies.  Now if we could just get some new pictures of BabyKlik, life would be perfect!!

Reaganite Republican did his usual fine job bringing us the best political funnies.  Thanks...

And BlogProf has an outstanding bunch of links. Good grief, that guy is tireless!!  He has also been posting a series of articles on abortion that are outstanding:

Glenn Beck: The Revolutionary Holocaust

Thanks to Left Coast Rebel and all his hard work, I was able to view Glenn Beck's show The Revolutionary Holocaust.   It is something that I can, with all confidence, recommend to anyone and urge you to view. What I saw was nothing new for me, but for many of my younger readers may be the wake-up call they need.

I find it ironic that I watched this on the same night that every station tonight is broadcasting a telethon populated mostly with degenerate Hollywood "entertainers" who would be the first to be annihilated under the regime of their hero Che Guevarra.

Again, many thanks to Left Coast who provided the link to:

One thing communism, socialism, and the "ideal" of collectivism have in common is an absence of a belief in God.  A God who was our Creator and holds all life precious.  Ignore this truth at your own peril.

Day of Prayer and Penance on Anniversary of Roe v Wade

Today is a Day of  Prayer and Penance.
In all the dioceses of the United States of America, January 22 (or January 23, when January 22 falls on a Sunday) shall be observed as a particular day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life. The Mass "For Peace and Justice" (no. 22 of the "Masses for Various Needs") should be celebrated with violet vestments as an appropriate liturgical observance for this day.USCCB
Please take a moment and visit Red State and read In Memoriam. It is excellent!
"On this day 37 years ago, seven unelected lawyers (all male) spat on centuries of Western tradition, the plain text of the Constitution, and decades of precedent and declared that there existed in the Constitution a heretofore undiscovered right for women to kill their children in utero. In one fell swoop, one of society’s burning moral questions was removed completely from the democratic process and placed in the hands of a black-robed oligarchy, jealous of protecting its own prerogative and manifestly afraid of “appearing weak” above all things; on at least one occasion it would refuse to reverse itself in order to teach the lowly population to be “tested by following” so that they might know the truth of the unelected Court above all other pedestrian concerns."  read the rest
And what is Obama doing on the anniversary of the most horrendous and probably unconstitutional piece of legislation?  Why he's romping around Ohio talking about green jobs.  Instead of worrying about "saving the planet he should be worrying about saving some innocent little human lives.

Meantime the dems and their lackeys in the press are doing their best to smear the new senator from Massachusetts.

Glenn Beck is showing his Live Free or Die special examining the roots of socialism and communism and the evil that followed.  Thanks to Left Coast Rebel (bless his cute little heart!) , who will record and post the show, I'll be able to view it later.

Glenn gets lots of stuff right, but these past few days he has seemed at bit, well, derailed.   There's something about playing John Lennon revolution music and commenting on it that has me worried.  I was afraid he was going to start playing the song backwards and claiming there was messages from the devil embedded in the song.

OMGosh!  I thought this was a joke...

Thanks Blog Prof for always finding the truly weird and wacky!

On the other hand if they opened one here I wouldn't have to pay for a gym membership.

Election Day in Massachusetts

Remember Massachusetts:

Scott Brown makes Baby Jesus smile...

Don't Want Health Insurance? Too Bad!

Watch this and try and tell me this is not a vicious and evil woman! H/T Hot Air
(give player a few seconds to load)

Scott Brown

I don't know how everyone else is doing, but I'm very nervous about the special election tomorrow in Massachusetts.  I think if Scott Brown wins it will be the first on many more battles yet to be fought and won.  I've donated money to the cause and since I don't live in Massachusetts and can't vote for Scott, the only thing left to do is say some prayers that God's will be done.

My greatest fear is the probability possibility of a very dirty election and the ensuing ugliness.  We all view the world through our own prism; a prism formed by the way we grew up, our education, and our experiences.  This is why it is so hard for most of us to understand the machinations of the evil who live among us.

Evil, which is the absence of good, has always been with us. When we lose our connection with our Creator, we leave a vacuum waiting to be filled with whatever is the prevailing trend in our secular society.  Don't leave a vacuum in your life...

Meantime my Spokane buddy, Mark, got an Instalaunch today on his fine article  Thoughts on the Movie Avatar.

I received a message from the Ceiling Cat for Amusing Bunni.  Ceiling Cat sez, "Bunni, you must stop squelching your emotions.  Do not hold back from saying what's on your mind.  It's bad for the digestion.  Make you puke up hair-balls"...

Money Quote of the Day

From Dr. Zero
[...]   Racism endures because we’ve thrown away the most effective weapons against it. We built a system of government that strangles the free enterprise which brings people together, united by their ambitions. We scowl at the healthy laughter that builds fellowship, timid at the thought of giving offense. We haven’t put enough effort into maintaining our common language, the mortar of a peaceful and open society. The most impoverished among us indulge a subculture that violently dismisses the pursuit of excellence as racial treason. Meanwhile, the ruling elite have constructed a system that stands Dr. King’s dream on its head: we bring our children into a world where the color of their skin unlocks a million pages of legislation, while attempts to judge the content of their character are a felony offense. read the entire article

Linky Love and the usual pithy commentary

I'm back. Breakfast was wonderful and since I'm not in jail for strangling the woman at the thrift store let's continue with links and even more (maybe) pithy commentary.

My biggest challenge is sorting out what I've stored in my tabs from perusing my Google reader all morning.  Thank goodness the blogosphere has settled down from it's hyper-posting of yesterday. I'm sure there is a better method.  Maybe blogger extraordinaire The BlogProf or Smitty, Stacy McCain's faithful and very brilliant co-blogger, will share some of their secrets (in such a way that a dumbie like me could understand)

In case you need to be reminded of Obama's "achievements" for his first year devoted to ruining our country in office, Paul Rahe over at Big Government does a fine job in his article Obama’s First Year

Scott Brown News

Doug Ross  has an open letter to His Brothers and Sisters in Massachusetts that really sums up what could be at stake in the Scott Brown/Martha Coakley race .

The king of pithy, Mark Steyn, has a great article "The Obama Agenda on the Precipice"

Stacy McCain is hanging out in Massachusetts with my "hard-core Catholic" buddy, DaTechGuy .  Both of them are bringing us outstanding first-person insights and pictures of the Scott Brown campaign while igniting sub envy.

"Seeing the Senate campaign from ground level is weird, in that you see and hear things -- TV ads, mailers, local news coverage, the comments of voters -- that aren't visible from outside the election battle zone. So you're watching selected microcosms of the campaign that don't necessarily match the Big Picture the national pundits are commenting on"
In fact, I think the job they are doing is so great I'm going to hit Stacy's tip jar (but on the condition he share it with DaTechGuy.)

On Health Care

In case you forgot with all the other stuff going on right now - that's the bill the Dim-ocrats are putting together in secret with bribes, threats, and concessions to the unions and any other special interest group that does not represent any interest vaguely related to the average American, which will take over something like one sixth of the US economy, cut Medicare, raise taxes, lower health care quality, rob of us any last vestige of privacy we may still have, and otherwise precipitate the downfall of this great nation.  That health care bill...

My favorite Irish poet, James Healy, celebrates his birthday today.  If you can't send him some money, at least go over and wish him Happy Birthday.  I've promised him a phone call and it shall be soon.

See you later...

Overheard at the Thrift Store

Yesterday I had to make a quick run to one of my favorite thrift stores run by Real Life Ministries, a local mega-church that teaches Catholics aren't Christians.  Heading out the front door, I overheard the volunteer running the check-out telling several customers that, "Of course the earth quake was caused by a pact with the devil. Everyone knows they practice voodoo in Haiti." One of the customers was making a half-hearted attempt to refute the statement, and another was agreeing.

My first inclination was to leap across the counter, grab the woman by the throat, shake her like a rag-doll, all the while screaming, "Are you insane or just stupid?"  I successfully squelched that idea.

My second inclination was to simply shout the aforementioned statement across the room.  I finally just shook my head and headed out the door marveling at the stupidity of people.

What would you have done?

I'll be back after breakfast with some major linky love...

Caffeine Over Load & Some Pithy Observations

Is the whole country on caffeine overload?? I went to bed last night with my Google reader at a nice comfortable 40 or so. I wake up this morning and it's approaching 1000.

Granted much of it is repeating the same good news that Scott Brown's poll numbers are waaaaaaaaaaay up!!  If you're not living under a rock, this is news you already know, and for this we give thanks to the Lord, and also thanks to the arrogance and ineptitude of Madame Coakley (who has very thin lips. I don't trust women with thin lips.)

So without further ado, let us move forward into this great day that the Lord has made...

I shall perhaps return later(after doing my housework,  running errands,  vacuuming under the bed where I just discovered a nest of dust bunnies the size of which I have never encountered in my entire life, working on my altered book and new journal cover, checking out Picasa, which I finally succeeded in downloading, and downloading LiveWriter) , and then again I may not. Only time will tell...

Today's Must Reads:

Dr. Zero nails it again:   Welcome to Subsidy Nation

Sonic Ninja Kitty has a review up on the Federal Reserve.  I linked to the original article, aimed at the "girls."

Now as much as I admire SNK and think she is tres smart, I take a bit of exception to her aiming all this brilliance at the females of the world.  While I am not as fully versed on the Federal Reserve as I should be (and I thank SNK for informing and educating moi), my guess is the guys of this country are just as deficient in this area.

At least I know the basics of business, meaning in order to be successful, a business must make more than it spends, which is something the men running this country don't seem to know.

I'm not giving the likes of Pelosi and her female cohorts a free pass here as I suspect they are not really "girls."

So all you guys head over and  "journey with SNK into the heart of darknessthe den of iniquity that is your typical congressional hearing on the Federal Reserve…."

From Big Government: Texas is Right to Quit the "Race for the Top" Education Program.  The closing statement made by the author says,
"Education is a state issue, and the federal government has no business dictating academic standards or curriculum to states. Washington, please leave Texas alone."
Call me old-fashioned, but I don't believe government should be involved in education at all - not at the state level and certainly not at the federal level.  If "government" did such a great job we wouldn't have failing schools turning out failing people.

Government-run schools are just another way to control  and indoctrinate  people into collectivist thinking.

"There are no coincidences. God allows - as well as ordains - events to occur in an order and fashion that manifests His presence, and while making sense of it all may forever remain beyond our competence, it is our faith and hope in Him that sustains us."  you must read it all

 Money quote of the day:

Archbishop George H. Niederauer of San Francisco speaks to Nancy Pelosi:
"Human freedom does not legitimate bad moral choices, nor does it justify a stance that all moral choices are good if they are free: 'The exercise of freedom does not imply a right to say or do everything,'" wrote the archbishop, citing the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

"It is entirely incompatible with Catholic teaching to conclude that our freedom of will justifies choices that are radically contrary to the Gospel — racism, infidelity, abortion, theft," he continued.

"Freedom of will is the capacity to act with moral responsibility; it is not the ability to determine arbitrarily what constitutes moral right."

"While we deeply respect the freedom of our fellow citizens," Niederauer concluded, "we nevertheless are profoundly convinced that free will cannot be cited as justification for society to allow moral choices that strike at the most fundamental rights of others. Such a choice is abortion, which constitutes the taking of innocent human life, and cannot be justified by any Catholic notion of freedom."  Archbishop George H. How to fix the USA

From the combox:

Sarah - Kala said...
People probably would take me to task for my suggestions (I don't know enough political stuff to make much sense but at least I admit that up front - so my ignorance is really just that: ignorance). We need to clean out D.C. by just getting them all fired out of there . . . restore this country to the original founding father's ideals . . . based on the Constitution. The Constitution is still a fantastic document. We need to do something about Supreme Court Justices - the get assigned there and stay there until they decide to retire and/or die? Silly! Same thing with the Senators: TERM LIMITS. Also, we need to really go back to basics in education. In order to graduate, kids should have to take the "citizen" test - and pass it with an 80% or more. What say you?
Sarah - it's almost impossible for one person to keep up with things since they (the bad guys) are moving so fast.

All those reforms you mentioned are necessary but IMHO will not happen. The teachers union has a stranglehold on "education", over 40% of the citizens are on some sort of "public welfare" (often masquerading as a government jobs.)

This system we call the USA is going to collapse - either slowly like Venezuela or all at once.

I vote for all at once so we can begin the process of rebuilding. The people that deny what is going on and stick their heads in the sand will perish.  The others will make prudent preparations which will ensure their survival.   Track-O-'Crat has some additional thoughts on this and some good links...

Let's Have a Group Hug with Hitler

2010 - Oliver Stone thinks Hitler is “an easy scapegoat throughout history" and we must have “empathy for the person you may hate.”

Chickens meet roost:

From the BlogProf:

President Barack Obama says he has not succeeded in bringing the country together, acknowledging an atmosphere of divisiveness that has washed away the lofty national feeling surrounding his inauguration a year ago.
"That's what's been lost this year ... that whole sense of changing how Washington works," Obama said in an interview with People magazine.
The president said his second-year agenda will be refocused on uniting the country around common values, "whether we're Democrats or Republicans." source

Well, now I feel much better.

Don't be a monkey

Oh yes, one other thing -

Read this post and then buy the book:

Allen West on Harry Reid

Before I toddled off I was waylaid by this excellent article...

A Must Read:

Allen West on Harry Reid: A Black Republican on "Negro" Talk

Let's Not Waste Time

I find it inconceivable that an entire nation is wasting its collective time, energy, and angst on what  Harry Reid said behind closed doors.  I am way more interested in what this man is doing behind closed doors to take away our last shred of freedom.

If Harry Reid wishes to sit outside naked in freezing weather and howl at the moon it is of no concern to me. His putting the last nail into the coffin marked freedom concerns me greatly.  Taking over my health care at the point of a sword,  taxing me against my will and desire to fund the lifestyles of the lazy and ignorant, and paying off bribing special interests with my money, is a much larger concern.

Is there a double standard at work in this country? You bet there is - and it flows both ways.  The hours of productive work, including engaging our brain, is being wasted debating something that means nothing to our lives.

Instead of spending time tilting at windmills, it may make more sense to learn how to build a windmill. You may need to someday.

A Catholic Mom in Minnesota brings up a reasonable but easily answerable question when she asks, Why One and Not the Other?  Read it and form your own answer.

Still think things are "fair?"

"Looks like the Amish have found their “Get Out of Jail Free” card when it comes to the new Obamacare insurance mandate. I have to wonder, though…if this is the case, why can’t Christians get out of the mandate if the government insist that our tax dollars pay for abortions? That goes against our “religious conscience”, so wouldn’t that give us the exemption we need?" read the rest
One thing I might point out is that the Amish generally pay their way or take care of themselves.  But it is still valid to ask the question of why those opposed to abortion should be forced to fund the procedure.

The bigger question though,  is why are we funding anything for anyone?

Congrats in Order

Matthew and Patrick Archbold, of Creative Minority Report, will be contributors at the new National Catholic Register website.  It couldn't happen to two more talented, funny, and genuinely good guys!

Our household also offers prayers and condolences on the loss of their brother, Kevin.

Scott Brown

Meantime Reaganite Republican (speaking of genuinely nice guys!) reminds us to support Scott Brown for senator in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts conservative site Red-Invades-Blue is launching a Money Bomb today for the brave Republican challenger for Ted Kennedy's open Senate seat, Scott Brown.   read the rest and than donate

William Jacobson over at Legal Insurrection is covering his election pretty carefully:
Scott Brown's Money Bomb is today. The special election is a week from tomorrow.

"If you've read this blog, you know that there is a chance of victory for Brown if he keeps surging. But he needs money to do that. A Scott Brown victory may be the last chance to stop the people in the photo below from doing to our health care system what they did to the banking system and housing market." read the rest and than send a donation
Now this is interesting:  Palin Signs on with Fox News

Big Journalism sums it up beautifully:
