I know all good blogger advice is to dole out your posts bit by bit (byte by byte?)  I don't know about you, but I don't have time for all that nonsense.  I have a house to clean.

So here it all is, in one big blob that you can peruse at your leisure. 

Government Shutdown

No biggie.  Can't go to a federal park?  Go to a local park instead.

Obamacare

Tuesday is Oct. 1st.  Does anyone really believe that the interwebs are going to light up with all these poor uninsured people demanding their health insurance?  Here's what's really going to happen.  Nothing.  That's right - absolutely nothing will happen.  Most people don't even have the faintest idea of what it is all about.  But that's okay since the government doesn't have any idea either. 

One thing I am tired of hearing is the term "tax subsidies" for what is really the greatest transfer of wealth ever envisioned by the Socialist/Marxist/Commies who reside in DC?  It is not a "tax subsidy."  It's a direct payment to an insurance company to pay for insurance for people who exceed some mythical poverty line.  Do you realize that in some states a family of four making 92K are going to be "subsidized" for to up to 7K for their insurance?  What's up with that?  Run some figures through the subsidy calculator provided by Kaiser, if you don't believe me.

I spend more time reading comments on articles than I do on most articles. I'm way more interested in what the "people" have to say than some authors.  American Thinker, in particular, usually has a plethora of good comments.

From my combox last week we have this. (Some people just say it much better than I ever could.) In answer to my questions:

The primary question has been, "How did we, meaning the country, get to where we are now?"  We have a population of over 300 million people being harassed by a government completely out of control. 

The secondary question is, "How did the government, in particular the federal government, get so out of control?"

 The answer to your question is simple: our country increasingly rejects Almighty God, the Creator of Heaven and Earth, Who planted His natural Laws in our hearts and instead confusedly labels evils like killing babies as good while deriding the bounty of the Lord as evil. We subsidize and encourage otherwise failing behavior while of course denying so doing. 

You see, the problems with America fundamentally aren't merely political, although they do manifest in the political sphere. Half the country--the half in which neither you nor I live--at least approves or even actively celebrates the wholesale massacre of a million unborn Americans every year and longs for next year, when the Patient Protection Affordable Care Act will compel those Americans in the other half--our half--to subsidize the annihilation of hundreds of thousands of unborn Americans.

But even here in the most conservative of states, Oklahoma, all is not well, even absent interference from Washington. Just down the road, a group of people intentionally rip unborn Americans from their mothers' wombs and dismembered to death with impunity. Those mothers--God have mercy on them, please--often suffer terribly. The baby never chooses this end, but the mothers often arrive under duress and in deep confusion. They leave with deep physical and spiritual wounds that never heal absent the grace of God.

Our society is confused, depressed, insane, rejecting the God Who made us, and in favor of what, of whom? Our spirits long, our bodies pine for God, the living God. Yet almost everything in our secular, increasingly forcefully imposed culture obscures that God, turns us away from God, contradicts the Wisdom and the science and the knowledge and the cognizance of God, supplanting them and Him with its own purported wisdom, nominal science, fallaciously based but enticing knowledge, and social-media cognizance that leaves our souls unfed and our spirits empty.

In this half of the country, we often delude ourselves into acting as though passing an hour or two halfheartedly in an ecclesial community on Sunday and praying occasionally during times of quandary or physical pain suffice to oppose the overbearing influence of the secular worldview. Those practices indubitably help us, but we often do not recognize how intensely our culture contravenes the Gospel and how insidiously our culture, our assumptions, our fundamental philosophy rejects God and Truth and beauty and right in favor of something that we know internally as utterly false and even at times depraved. I say this almost by way of confession and certainly not to declare my innocence.

Let me close with the final words of the Old Testament, the Word of the Lord through Saint Malachi in the Old Testament, which prophecy Saint John the Baptist, who, Saint Luke tells us in his Gospel, fulfilled in the spirit and power of Saint Elijah:

"Remember the law of Moses my servant,
whom I charged at Horeb
With statutes and ordinances
for all Israel.
Now I am sending to you
Elijah the prophet,
Before the day of the LORD comes,
the great and terrible day;
He will turn the heart of fathers to their sons,
and the heart of sons to their fathers,
Lest I come and strike
the land with utter destruction.

"Turn the hearts of fathers to their children." Want to know how to correct what is wrong with America today? Turn the hearts of fathers to their children. Well, 41% of fathers, according to the National Vital Statistics Report, vanish from the marital bond between the conception of their children and the birth of the same children. Some of these children indeed enter into the light of day after those fathers die prematurely, and on these widows and orphans we must have compassion. Others so mistreat women that they father babies and then scurry away. But regardless of the exact breakdown, the statistic reveals a terrible illness among American men. And what does the prophet foretell of the society where fathers disregard their children? The Lord shall "come and strike the land with utter destruction."

And therein lies the problem with America today. Where did the fathers go? When children--and we all are children, regardless of our age--lack the stability and love that married parenthood provides, when they lack the guidance and example of a loving earthly father, when they lack knowledge of their Heavenly Father, they seek fatherhood elsewhere, in big government in part.

As a society that increasingly rejects God and the law that He wrote on our hearts, a society that bizarrely even rejects the simple biological realities of parenting, a society wherein fathers reject and neglect even their own innocent children and the vulnerable mothers of the same children, we increasingly place faith, hope, and trust in loveless big government, a trend that reaches its apex in a society like the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea. Is Obama, Congress, and big government our god, or shall we worship and depend on and trust and follow the law of Almighty God, Who is Truly God? As Saint Elijah asked on Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18:21), how long will we straddle the issue? If the Lord is God, then follow him; if big government were god, then we must overtly reject the True God and follow big government as god, as we increasingly do. Will God strike our land with utter destruction? Even if He does not so strike us, we will have struck ourselves, for our very philosophy can yield no easy yoke or light burden for our spirits.

I apologize for the extreme length of this post. Perhaps I should attempt brevity next time.

What's at stake on Nov. 6th: Obamacare will break this nation...

it's their plan.

Obamacare is one of the biggest issues facing this country, aside from someone dropping a big bomb on us, in which case, Obamacare becomes a moot point.

By now, most of you have learned that working 30 hours per week has been designated by this administration as full-time work.  The CNS article linked below expands on exactly what that means.

The second article deals with the Medicare Advantage program.  Both my husband and I pay extra to participate in this program.  It doesn't come "free", anymore than Medicare is "free."  Do we have a choice about participating in Medicare?  Not if we want to collect our Social Security, which, I might add, automatically deducts our Medicare premium from our monthly allowance. 

I have taken a very small part-time job in order to add to what we've dubbed our "medical tourism" account.  If Obamacare is not repealed, I predict the closing of many hospitals, and a rapid decline in the number of doctors.  Most of the doctors who stay in the system will not accept Medicare patients - a problem that already exists.

So what will be the next logical step for the state?  It will impose a mandate that all doctors who wish to practice medicine must treat a certain percentage of Medicare patients.  The problem is there will be a shortage of doctors and a shortage of hospitals.  A mandate against someone who doesn't exist, in this case the doctor, is really no mandate at all.

Everyone is in an uproar over some comments Romney made in a recent interview about keeping parts of Obamacare, which mainly had to do with preexisting conditions.  I made a comment somewhere that he needed to repeal the whole dang thing and deal separately with the preexisting condition problem.

It appears that's what he intends to do.

The Wall Street Journal has an article,  Romney's Tax Confusion, claiming his use of the word "tax" as related to the Obamacare mandate is politically damaging.

If Mitt Romney loses his run for the White House, a turning point will have been his decision Monday to absolve President Obama of raising taxes on the middle class. Really?  You think the average schmoo in this country cares one whit whether it's called a tax or a penalty, or even reads the Wall Street Journal for that matter - if they can read at all?  I would venture a guess that way more than 50% of the peeps don't even know there was a Supreme Court decision on the constitutionality of the mandate.

Here's what these people care about:  What's it going to cost me and what am I going to get for free. Right now they think they're going to get "free" health insurance and "free" health care just like they get "free" cell phones, 99 weeks of unemployment, payouts for illegitimate children, and food stamps.

Our biggest enemy in this country is not the government.  Our biggest enemy is the MSM which continues to protect Obama and who will soon (very, very soon) start telling the great unwashed how wonderful Obamacare will be and how much free stuff they'll be getting.  Our second biggest enemy is the ignorance and apathy of the average voter.

 I have a different view point of what's going on, since I am older than many of my readers. I will be 67 years old in December, and I share with others in my age group and older, the dismay of the vast devastation that is occurring in our society, while also realizing that each successive generation has less and less reason to be aware of what is going on.

Our Marxist government-run schools teach our children that America is not exceptional; that we are racist, homophobic, greedy, and, well, just plain mean.  Isn't that what the disgracefully angry woman married to the president is always saying?

My suggestion to all you folks under the age of 40 is to find the closest "old" person you can find and ask them what it was like in 1945 or 1950 and write it down.  All too often, the older generation is ignored, or worse, told they have faulty memories of the past and that things weren't all that great back then. How dismissive! You might as well just say we suffer from collective senility.

The greatest lessons I learned were from my mother as I begged to hear stories of the "roaring twenties" (including speakeasies and gangsters), the depression, and what it was like growing up from the perspective of someone born in 1913, while she always reminded me that was her perspective.

For instance, in her world, even though her family was far from wealthy, the depression was something happening to other people.  Her life was merry and full of activities and college. Do you think people calling into Dave Ramsey's show, those who are clearing up their debt on a salary of 150K, think there is a depression going on now?  But ask a recent college graduate who can't find a job he thinks is worthy of his or her useless degree about the economy, and you'll hear a different story. 

These young people need to hear someone my age say, "Hey, Crackerhead, we didn't all pop out of high school or college and expect to immediately get our dream job.  We expected to work our way up and if that meant working two (or in my case three) jobs, well, so be it.  We also didn't expect to buy a home we couldn't afford, an over-priced brand new car, and designer clothes.  We expected to pay for things with real money since credit cards weren't invented until the 1950's.  We expected to save for what we wanted. We expected to get married before having children and we expected to pay for the delivery, and mom was actually looking forward to staying home and raising children rather than warehousing them in a daycare.  They also didn't think that was demeaning.  Capisce?"

The people who are 65 and up are the last best hope for this country.  We are the last generation who were taught to think and the "elites" are anxious for us to die.  The dumbing down of the populace was by design and done deliberately.  Illiteracy, both functionally and historically, is their weapon. When we are gone, there will be few who will remember the past as it really was. It is up to my generation to speak up loud and clear or it will be too late.

And you know what the result will be? Not an iota of ObamaCare will be touched, much less repealed. The republicans want it every bit as much as the democrats. They're all gunning for that power. They will NEVER turn loose of that power voluntarily. We are now to the point where the only way we get rid of these people and re-establish a lawful government is through involuntary removal. In short, we are either going to have to have a junta, or an all-out hot civil war. I strongly, strongly advocate a junta at this point. A junta would be, by far, the least bloody solution. Sadly, there are no men of integrity left in the flag officer corps to do it - the U.S. military is populated by vile, power-hungry, money-grubbing Marxist degenerates just as much as the three branches.scroll to June 28th to read the entire article

The Supreme Court will announce the term’s remaining rulings at 10:00 am ET.
The website Scotusblog will immediately convey all the decisions, including the Obamacare ruling, during its Live Blog of the announcements. Most Americans oppose health law but like provisions...

Really?

Allow me to sum up the stupidity of this:

Lose your job, lose your insurance.

Does that make sense?

Insurance should be purchased by and belong to the insured, not the business where they are employed. 

Three things to do immediately to get real health insurance reform started:

1. Immediately open the market to real competition by allowing insurance companies to sell across state lines.
2. Remove all federal mandates and state mandates.
3. Start work on tort reform

Those three steps will alleviate 90% of the problem.   The first two can be accomplished in a matter of minutes. The third will take a bit longer. 

We keep drifting further and further from the real issue.  The federal government has no business poking their nose into the health insurance business, education, or allowing the EPA to monitor a ditch on your property.  What is so hard to understand about this?
