Stanly Kurtz: Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities...

helps to put together some pieces of the puzzle.

Tip of the Hat to Bob Belvedere, over at The Camp of the Saints (link below), for the heads up on the August 2nd release of  Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities by Stanly Kurtz.

Ron Radosh has done a comprehensive review over at P.J. Media that is well worth a read.

The unfortunate title — not an attention-grabber in bookstores —does not covey the breadth of his research, the scholarly yet readable and comprehensive analysis of where the president is coming from, and the nature of the social policy Obama will put into practice if he wins a second term. They amount to an entire gamut of initiatives, some well underway, to redistribute wealth not from the fabled 1% — who really do not have enough to save us from fiscal Armageddon even if the government took 80% of their profits — but from the average, middle-class, hardworking citizens who sought better lives and realized the American dream by moving to the suburbs, where the air is cleaner, the schools are decent, and life is peaceful and integrated.

These citizens are the very swing voters Obama is now courting; his many TV commercials about helping the middle class target them. What Kurtz reveals in chilling detail is that the group of radicals surrounding the president — names most of us (including me) are not familiar with — are nevertheless as dangerous and extreme in their goals as Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Reverend Jeremiah Wright. While those three are persona non grata in the White House, these unknown radicals are just as important, and they are planning social policy with Obama’s approval.

Here are their names, and when Kurtz’s book is published, they will hopefully become household names and what they advocate will be there for anyone to see. They are: Mike Kruglik, Obama’s boss and his trainer when Obama was a community organizer in the 1980s; Myron Orfield, a University of Minnesota law professor; John Powell, a law professor at Ohio State University who believes America suffers from structural racism; David Rusk, a former mayor of Albuquerque, NM, who favors annexation of the suburbs by the cities; and Linda Darling-Hammond, a proponent of a politicized curriculum for schools, a close associate of Ayers, and a leader in the administration’s effort to create new national standards and tests for our schools.

Just off the top of my head some thoughts:
  • Agenda 21
  • Fabien Socialists
  • "Sustainable Communities"
  • Central planning of communities
  • A local dem running who reveres the Finland model of schooling (she has zero chance of being elected - thank goodness!)
  • The gutting of our school curriculum
  • International Baccalaureate program
I have a busy morning and rather than re-invent the wheel take time to read Radosh's review and also check out The Camp of the Saints.

The real shock about the Chick-fil-A brouhaha...

is not about lefties acting like the vile screaming two year olds we all know them to be.

Most of us realize it's not what you know. but who you know.  Starting a business and need a loan?  Give a shout out to the bank president who happens to be your old college roommate.  Need a bit of code variance?  Your pal from the Chamber of Commerce or the Rotary happens to be the person in charge of code enforcement for your town.  None of this is necessarily illegal as long as laws are not broken.  It's just a bit of "greasing the skids" that makes life go more smoothly.  And don't forget to send them a case of wine for Christmas.

This has always gone on, and it's treated with a wink-wink and a friendly nudge.  But it's gone on quietly.  That is, until the head of Chick-fil-A was asked a direct question about his stance on homosexuals being able to marry each other.  He declared himself a Christian who believes marriage is between a man and a woman.

The result?

Mayors of at least three major cities publicly stated that they would make life a living hell for anyone wanting to open a Chick-fil-A in their towns.

The real shock, one that should send a chill down everyone's spine, is that these elected officials feel comfortable enough to publicly state such a thing - to publicly point out that they are willing to break the law and call down the furies on Christians who happen to hold Christian views.

Imagine if a mayor of a city said they were going to stop Starbucks from opening up, or declared it unlawful to sell Ben and Jerry's ice cream?

Message to the ill-informed radicals on the left:

If you support such public displays of unlawfulness by your elected officials, it may be you who is the next target.

Scott Brown's new ad...

sends the right message and shows the contrast between the conservative backbone of America and the ugly and demeaning rhetoric of people like Elizabeth Warren and Barack Hussein Obama.

How the left ignores history...

and puts us all in danger.

I can remember my mom watching the Army-McCarthy hearings on TV in 1954.  Mom never watched daytime TV, so this was a rare sight.  Never one to let an opportunity to get some work done slip by, she ironed while she watched.  Years later she joked that the hearings went on so long she managed to reach the bottom of the ironing basket where she found one of my baby socks.  This was remarkable because I was 8 years old at the time.

While many of the methods employed by McCarthy were less than savory, history eventually exonerated him regarding many of his allegations concerning communist influence in our government.  Today, we have Allen West making many similar allegations about members of congress and Michele Bachmann questioning the vetting process for people in high security clearance positions.

The backlash against Rep. Bachmann has been particularly harsh, considering she is just one of 5 people (and the only woman) who wrote letters to several different government agencies requesting that they look into the possibility of undue influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in our government.

Even several high-end Catholic bloggers are demanding she explain her position and have allowed wholesale Bachmann bashing in their comboxes.  The fact that these individuals did not read any of the letters in question, thereby having no clue as to their content, did not deter them from slamming Rep Bachmann.  One of them laughingly calls for Bachmann to provide documentation of her "allegations."  Problem is, she made no allegations against any individual, something they would have known if they had bothered to read the letters.

In today's article at the American Spectator, Jeffrey Lord has put together an easy to read, but very comprehensive, look back at the times in our history where this sort of thing has happened before.  It's a fascinating read and one I highly recommend.

Is Huma Abedin the New Alger Hiss?

Is Huma Abedin to the Muslim Brotherhood what Alger Hiss was to the Soviet Union?

Why are Republican Senator John McCain, Republican Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rodgers (R-MI) acting in the growing Abedin controversy as Washington Establishment Democrats of the 1940s did in the Hiss episode? Which is to say, writing off the dangers of a foreign enemy whose goal is to infiltrate the U.S. government -- because, well, the people in question are part of the Washington Establishment?

And last but certainly not least, why is the Republican Establishment pursuing a losing strategy in the war against Islamic radicalism? Is it returning to the losing strategy it pursued during the Cold War -- a strategy that was overturned over Establishment opposition by Ronald Reagan's victorious "we win, they lose" strategy?

These questions arise because of McCain's vehement attack on Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann. Bachmann, along with four other conservative House members (Louis Gohmert of Texas, Trent Franks of Arizona, Thomas Rooney of Florida and Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia), has written a series of hotly controversial letters.

What did Bachmann and the others do to infuriate McCain? And draw a rebuke from Boehner and Rodgers?

The five House members wrote letters to the Inspector Generals of the Departments of State, Justice, Defense, and Homeland Security -- along with a fifth to the IG in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Asking?

Asking that the recipients take seriously the possibility that the Muslim Brotherhood is becoming a security threat within the government of the United States itself.   read the rest

Allow me to say:

What the hell is going on?  Isn't this guy being paid by the American people to be president?

I'm sick and tired of this.  He needs to go down in the largest defeat every recorded in U.S. history.  It will be "unprecedented."

And what in hell is wrong with the people that are willing to pay 10's of thousands of dollars to have this vile squid of a human being shake their hand?

Obama: If you have a business, you didn't build it...

Romney says, "The context is worse than the quote."

LARRY KUDLOW: “Why do you think President Obama, what did he mean, if you've got a business, you didn't build it, someone else made that happen? He claims it's being taken out of context. What do you think it means? Do you think this is Obama anti-business, anti-entrepreneur? Or do you think maybe he has been treated unfairly?”
GOV. ROMNEY: “Well, just read the whole speech. I found the speech even more disconcerting than just that particular line. The context is worse than the quote. The context, he says, you know, you think you've been successful because you're smart, but he says a lot of people are smart. You think you've been successful because you work hard, a lot of people work hard. This is an ideology which says hey, we're all the same here, we ought to take from all and give to one another and that achievement, individual initiative and risk-taking and success are not to be rewarded as they have in the past. It's a very strange and in some respects foreign to the American experience type of philosophy. We have always been a nation that has celebrated success of various kinds. The kid that gets the honor roll, the individual worker that gets a promotion, the person that gets a better job. And in fact, the person that builds a business. And by the way, if you have a business and you started it, you did build it. And you deserve credit for that. It was not built for you by government. And by the way, we pay for government. Government doesn't come free. The people who begin enterprises, the people who work in enterprises, they're the ones paying for government. So his whole philosophy is an upside-down philosophy that does not comport with the American experience. And if we want to get people working again--and that's my priority--if we want to get people working again, we have to celebrate success and achievement and not demonize it and denigrate the people who have worked hard, who are smart, who have made the kinds of investments to build a brighter future.”

Democrat Threatens Tea Party Girl

personally, I would have clocked the guy!
During a public event at the Reform Congregation - Keneseth Israel in Jenkintown, Pa for Obama (which no Republicans were invited to speak at) - We arrived to find Myron Goldman - a Jewish American for Romney handing out literature. He was told to leave. 10 minutes later, Steve (from Citizens For Liberty) and I were listening to Josh Shapiro talk about how TOLERANT the Democrats are and how they welcome other opinions (yet they tried to throw Mr. Goldman off the property). At the end of the event, I stood in the parking lot with my sign that said Obama has killed (among other things) Jobs, the coal industry, and the Constitution. Things got very heated as a Democrat told one person to "Go F*ck Themself" and then he proceeded to get in my face, bump his chest into me, and told me he was going to break my camera. To be fair, there were 2 lovely Democrat ladies at the end who stopped and said they appreciated our right to be there and voice our opinion. Debbie Wasserman Schultz spoke at this event - the same Debbie Wasserman Schultz who said the Tea Party lacks civility - if you watch this video - I'd say actions speak louder than Debbie's lying accusations.

Politically motivated physical assault recorded on video

23 July 2012:

If you had any doubt that ideological emotions are running high in advance of the 2012 elections, a video taken on the evening of 16 July 2012 outside of a synagogue in Jenkintown, PA  should put them to rest.  Tensions are beginning to become apparent as the political and ideological divide widens among citizens.
The meeting of Obama supporters, led in part by Josh Shapiro, the Chair of the Montgomery County Board of Commissioners, spoke to the crowd about the 2012 Obama campaign along with Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the Chair of the Democratic National Committee.
Ironically, Shapiro spoke about how tolerant their Progressive ideology is and how they welcome diversity of opinion, except, apparently, when the opinion does not conform to the ideology of Progressivism.  read the rest

Relevance. Sadly, it's the goal of most people alive today.

Fool Me Twice...

publish date: August 14, 2012

Available for pre-order from Amazon.

In Fool Me Twice, investigative journalists and New York Times bestselling authors Aaron Klein and Brenda J. Elliott reveal the detailed blueprints for President Obama’s second term in office. Just as Obama concealed the true plans for his initial term behind rhetoric of ending partisan differences and cutting the Federal deficit, Obama’s re-election theme of creating jobs conceals more than it reveals about his real agenda for a second term – the “progressive” program to complete the fundamental transformation of America during the next four years.  This book is filled with stunning revelations, including second-term plans for a “New Deal”-style overhaul of the economy replete with the creation of a National Infrastructure Development Bank to oversee government control of the financial system; a massive, government-run jobs program to coincide with “paycheck fairness”; full amnesty for illegal aliens; de-funding of the U.S. military while channeling Pentagon money to “clean” energy initiatives; a new, multi-billion dollar “green” stimulus; and implementing Obamacare in measures nearly impossible to reverse. And that is just the start.

President to visit Aurora - orders flags to fly at half mast...

why?

Lest you think me cruel and uncaring, allow me to say that what happened was terrible and I can't even begin to imagine what the family and friends of the victims must be feeling.

The thing I find curious is the response.

My question is:  What is the cut off number of victims for how we'll do whatever it is we decide to do?

From Second City Cop:
Shooting totals climbing again:
  • Three men are dead and at least 18 other people wounded from gun violence across the city since Friday night.
The weekend’s first fatal shooting happened in the 400 block of North Austin Boulevard, after a man intervened in a domestic argument between the suspect and a woman, police said. The suspect left to get a handgun, then returned about 12:50 a.m. and opened fire, striking the man and two other people.
Collateral damage and 20+ shot overnight.

This is a fairly typical weekend in Chicago, yet Mayor Rahm Emanuel doesn't order the flags fly at half mast and the president doesn't fly in to offer comfort to people.  Oh, by the way, Chicago has very strict gun laws.

Just wondering about these things.

I sort of like what Rick Moran said at PJ Media:
I would like to propose that anyone and everyone who writes anything about the massacre in Colorado save their work and, when the next mass killing occurs, simply republish the article, plugging in the new names, dates, and places where appropriate.
This will not only save time and effort, but, since we’ve already read what pundits have to say and we know all the arguments by heart, we won’t have to read it again. Thus, the news-consuming public will be spared the angst-ridden diatribes against guns, or immorality, or our broken mental health system, or violence in the media, or how it’s the left’s fault or the right’s fault — even articles like this one that complain about pundits writing about the same subjects every time a mass shooting occurs.
The post-massacre media environment gives true meaning to the cliche “deja vu” — “already seen” according to Wikipedia. I challenge anyone to come up with anything original written by anyone in the last 24 hours that didn’t follow the now traditional meme-making and narrative-setting path that every major public bloodletting has followed in the last decade.  read the rest
P.S.  I understand that the current president is simply making a quick stop-over in Colorado for a photo-op on the way to a slew of fund raising events.   What a guy!

Aurora...

Joint Statement of Archbishop Samuel Aquila and
Bishop James Conley on Aurora Shootings

Last night at the Century Movie Theater in Aurora, a gunman walked into a full theater and opened fire on scores of moviegoers.  In the largest mass shooting in America in more than five years, 12 people were killed and about 50 were wounded by gunfire.  We are shocked and saddened by this tragedy. Our hearts and prayers go out to those impacted by this evil act.

In the chaos of the moment, people poured from the movie theater into the darkness of the night—the darkness of confusion, of ambiguity, of despair.  We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters cast into that darkness.  They do not stand alone.   As Catholic bishops, we “weep with those who weep.”

But in Aurora, which means “the dawn,” the sun rose this morning.  In a city whose name evokes the light, people of hope know that the darkness may be overcome.

For those who were killed, our hope is the tender mercy of our God.  “Neither death nor life,” reflected St. Paul, “can separate us from the love of God.”  We commend their souls, and their families and friends, to God’s enduring love.

For those who were wounded—physically, emotionally and spiritually—our hope is in their recovery and renewal.  To them we offer our prayers, our ears to listen, and our hearts to love.  The road to recovery may be long, but in hope we are granted the gift of new life.

We hope also for the perpetrator of this terrible crime, and we pray for his conversion.  Evil ruled his heart last night.  Only Jesus Christ can overcome the darkness of such evil.
We hope that all of us may find the peace which surpasses understanding.

The Archdiocese of Denver stands ready to assist the victims of this tragedy, and our community.  Regina Caeli Counseling Services of Catholic Charities will offer counseling over the next few weeks to those who need it.  We look for opportunities to pray with our community.  And we continue to work to support families and communities in forming people of peace.

+Most Reverend Samuel J. Aquila

Auxiliary Bishop of Denver

May Christ reign in our hearts now and forever.
