Well, this should be fun to watch - Missouri rejects Obamacare. Obama to sue? Couric and her "explosive" video

I wasted five minutes of my day watching the "explosive"  video of Katie Couric "mocking" the names of Sarah Palin's sons, thereby "proving" her bias.  Folks, this was nothing more than a run-through of her program where, when first reading the names Track and Trig, she questioned where they came up with these names.  I would have done the same thing.  She is also accused of making fun of Wasilla, when in fact she was trying to ascertain the correct pronunciation - something I wish more TV reporters would do when having to report on a location with an unusual name.  And, let's face it, Wasilla does sound funny.

I am in no way implying that Ms Couric was not biased with her reporting of Sarah Palin.   To focus on beauty pageants and moose burgers while ignoring Palin's many accomplishments was certainly biased and  and meant to show her as "not a serious person."  Couric, as well as most every MSM reporter (I refuse to call them journalists), were obviously out to "get" Sarah Palin.  The recent Journolist outings made that patently clear.

However, to bandy about this silly video and call it "explosive" and "proof" of bias, makes the right look as silly as the left.

A voters guide to political terms in the 2010 elections
Over the next few months politicians will be airing ads to entice voter support. They’ll appear on television and radio programs trying to make you believe the world will stop revolving around the sun if you don’t vote for them. A sobering article from the Daily Pundit:

Modern Times
[...]Our rulers have little regard for our opinions, except to the extent they can manipulate them. And when they are not treating us like criminals – things get worse. They treat us like children. And naughty children at that.

We are now advised by the government in a thousand ways that life has become far too complex for mere citizens to manage. Important decisions must now be assigned not to the individual, but to panels of qualified authorities, because they are learned, and they are thoughtful, and they most certainly know what is best for us.  read the rest

Thanks for the interesting links and excerpts today. I agree with you about the Couric thing. Whenever I run across folks like the Palins who give their kids unusual names, I often wonder to myself, "whatever happened to good old English names like Margaret or Robert, or biblical names like Daniel or, well, Sarah?"

Cheers!

Katie Couric should head the journolist list. She has become such a disappointment. I still don't understand, why does Sarah Palin make people nuts?

Mark - Wow! You've been posting so much stuff over at Ordered Liberty I can hardly keep up.

Everyone (meaning bloggers) picked up on that video because it was on Memeorandum and they were hoping for a link. It's all about the statcounter and not quality posting, doncha know! Anyone (IMO) who calls that "explosive" makes themselves look like fools.

McNorman - I've always thought Ms Couric was over-paid and under-qualified (not that any of the other reporters are such great shakes.)

I think Palin drives them crazy because she is everything the lefties hate and has still managed to rise in the ranks. That is unacceptable to them - to put it mildly.

Except that reporters get their copy long before the cameras roll. While it may have been the first take it was by no means the first time shed seen the script OR the first time shed heard the names. She was hamming for the camera to see How far she could go without being edited. And while yes I too have stated that I don't get the names. To do so as a reporter on camera is disgraceful!

MM - this video was the rehearsal. It was not a "first take" of the actual show. It is routine to film the rehearsal. Therefore, I stand by what I say.

I don't like Couric AT ALL - but to try and turn this into some big deal is silly. She said what any person that wasn't brain dead would say. We have plenty of real things to rip Couric apart on without having to resort to behaving like the lefties.
