and we thank him.
First off, the concept of big charity events has never sat well with me. A whole bunch of wealthy people spending gobs of money to get together and pat each other on the back for throwing nickles at the poor and downtrodden. You know, the people they've never seen and couldn't really care less about.
Timothy Cardinal Dolan (I'm not a fan), bragged that the dinner netted 6 million. All that does is make me wonder what the charity grossed.
I also don't like the whole "roast" thingy they do. It's one thing for a bunch of skilled comediennes getting together to poke fun at each other, but at the Al Smith dinner, it's just regular people who just come across as mean and nasty.
Trump got up and mostly read a bunch of slightly funny stuff. Then he got real and brought up stuff that was true about the corruption of his opponent. The "Catholic" crowd didn't care for that. But, Donald, being Donald, was not having any of their hypocritical bullshit. All those fancy elitist types wanted him to play along with the "we're all really on the same side wink wink" crapola.
In closing, let me thank Maria Bartiromo for providing us with the real entertainment of the evening. Bets were being placed over whether her ample assets, appearing to be the real deal, quivering and bouncing about, were going to escape the confines of her low-cut red dress. Only an Italian woman could pull off tacky earrings, an inappropriately low-cut dress, and too much eye makeup and still somehow look great.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan twists himself into a pretzel to defend gays marching in St. Patrick's Day Parade...
and the "Catholics" at Patheos (no link on purpose) have ramped up their support for this very, very bad decision.
Elizabeth, who answers comments using the moniker "MeanLizzie", certainly lives up to the mean part. She might want to start living up to being an Anchoress by slithering off into the seclusion being an Anchorite demands.
A clue for anyone who goes to Patheos; these people earn their money by the number of clicks or hits their blog receives. It is to their benefit to stir up controversy, no never mind if it follows Church teaching. Hence,
I provide no links. I am not advocating for a boycott on these people. I don't believe in boycotts. If you like their sites, by all means visit them. I choose not to.
Michael Voris beautifully sums up what is wrong with Cardinal Dolan's response - and we thank him.

Restore DC Catholicism: Cardinal Dolan Just Loves Parades, Doesn't He?
NB: If you think this only a Catholic issue and since you're not a mackerel-snapping statue worshiper it doesn't affect you, think again. Life does not proceed forward in a vacuum. You can see this sort of thing happening in our politics, our institutions of learning, and in almost all mainstream churches. These are not separate issues, but are intertwined to destroy our culture.
Elizabeth Scalia, who calls herself "The Anchoress", grand poobah at the Patheos Catholic channel, has cranked up her nastiness to a level that rivals her buddy Mark Shea, who also blogs at Patheos. Don't dare share a different opinion about the matter or these "Catholics" will call you all manner of names. And when it starts becoming clear that many who comment are in disagreement, Elizabeth shuts down the comments claiming she will be gone for ten days on a retreat.Cardinal Dolan's response to the self-identifying homosexuals marching in the St. Patrick's Day parade not only affects all Christians everywhere, but also politics, schools, and social policies.

Prosperity preacher Victoria Osteen, Catholics destroying churches for Muslim meditation, and gays at the St. Patrick's Day parade...
we're all in big trouble.
Victoria Osteen, wife and co-pastor at the mega-church that supports her and her husband, Joel, in palatial surroundings said:
Do you really need me to tell you why this is a load of crap? I didn't think so.
Oh, those wild and crazy Jesuits
In order to form a pagan art gallery, they ripped out the confessionals in 2008. In 2013 they ripped out a bunch of pews so people could have a place to socialize.
What's ironic is The Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, which uses Catholic meditation, is being usurped by pagan meditation in a "Catholic" Church named after St. Ignatius.
And people wonder why Catholics are leaving the Church in droves? Wonder no more.
Gays to march in St. Patrick's Day Parade in New York. Will Timothy Cardinal Dolan be the Grand Marshal?
Well, why the hell not? He thinks failed gay football player Michael Sam's "coming out" was just dandy.
Would someone explain to me why homosexuals identify themselves by the way they engage in sex? Why don't we have the "missionary position contingent" or the "I love my goat group" marching with cute banners?
From Creative Minority Report:
I doubt it.
These are people who elected a communist, Bill De Blasio (real name: Warren Wilhelm, Jr), who is married to an "ex" lesbian. Wait, I thought once a homosexual, always a homosexual.
Here's Bill and his family doing theirfamous infamous "smack-down dance" at this years West Indian Day Parade on September 1st.
The West Indian Day Parade is to celebrate Caribbean "culture" with lots of simulated sex acts and fat girls dressed in feathers.
Victoria Osteen, wife and co-pastor at the mega-church that supports her and her husband, Joel, in palatial surroundings said:
"I just want to encourage every one of us to realize when we obey God, we're not doing it for God—I mean, that's one way to look at it—we're doing it for ourselves, because God takes pleasure when we're happy," she said in the 36-second clip posted on YouTube, with her husband smiling at her side in approval. "That's the thing that gives Him the greatest joy…"
"So, I want you to know this morning: Just do good for your own self. Do good because God wants you to be happy," she continued. "When you come to church, when you worship Him, you're not doing it for God really. You're doing it for yourself, because that's what makes God happy. Amen?"

Oh, those wild and crazy Jesuits
On August 27, the Manresa Gallery, the art gallery inside St. Ignatius Church, the church of the (Jesuit) University of San Francisco hosted Meditation Wednesday. The gallery described the event:
“Come enjoy a moment of presence.
“The 30 minute sessions will recharge you and it is a great way to end a work day and prepare for the evening.
“Ali Naschke-Messing writes, ‘Meditation is simply a practice of presence; it hones our capacity to allow all things to be naturally as they are. This can occur in any moment, in any environment.’ She is excited to host opportunities for communal silence. There will be a little instruction, but mostly silence. No experience with meditation necessary, just an open mind. source

Timothy Cardinal Dolan enrages the libtards...
good going, Cardinal!

Cardinal Dolan's benediction at the Democratic Convention" (emphasis mine)
See some of the f-bombs sent his way.
Cardinal Dolan's benediction at the Democratic Convention" (emphasis mine)
With a “firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence,” let us close this convention by praying for this land that we so cherish and love:
Let us Pray.
Almighty God, father of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, revealed to us so powerfully in your Son, Jesus Christ, we thank you for showering your blessings upon this our beloved nation. Bless all here present, and all across this great land, who work hard for the day when a greater portion of your justice, and a more ample measure of your care for the poor and suffering, may prevail in these United States. Help us to see that a society’s greatness is found above all in the respect it shows for the weakest and neediest among us.
We beseech you, almighty God to shed your grace on this noble experiment in ordered liberty, which began with the confident assertion of inalienable rights bestowed upon us by you: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Thus do we praise you for the gift of life. Grant us the courage to defend it, life, without which no other rights are secure. We ask your benediction on those waiting to be born, that they may be welcomed and protected. Strengthen our sick and our elders waiting to see your holy face at life’s end, that they may be accompanied by true compassion and cherished with the dignity due those who are infirm and fragile.
We praise and thank you for the gift of liberty. May this land of the free never lack those brave enough to defend our basic freedoms. Renew in all our people a profound respect for religious liberty: the first, most cherished freedom bequeathed upon us at our Founding. May our liberty be in harmony with truth; freedom ordered in goodness and justice. Help us live our freedom in faith, hope, and love. Make us ever-grateful for those who, for over two centuries, have given their lives in freedom’s defense; we commend their noble souls to your eternal care, as even now we beg the protection of your mighty arm upon our men and women in uniform.
We praise and thank you for granting us the life and the liberty by which we can pursue happiness. Show us anew that happiness is found only in respecting the laws of nature and of nature’s God. Empower us with your grace so that we might resist the temptation to replace the moral law with idols of our own making, or to remake those institutions you have given us for the nurturing of life and community. May we welcome those who yearn to breathe free and to pursue happiness in this land of freedom, adding their gifts to those whose families have lived here for centuries.
We praise and thank you for the American genius of government of the people, by the people and for the people. Oh God of wisdom, justice, and might, we ask your guidance for those who govern us: President Barack Obama, Vice President Joseph Biden, Congress, the Supreme Court, and all those, including Governor Mitt Romney and Congressman Paul Ryan, who seek to serve the common good by seeking public office. Make them all worthy to serve you by serving our country. Help them remember that the only just government is the government that serves its citizens rather than itself. With your grace, may all Americans choose wisely as we consider the future course of public policy.
And finally Lord, we beseech your benediction on all of us who depart from here this evening, and on all those, in every land, who yearn to conduct their lives in freedom and justice. We beg you to remember, as we pledge to remember, those who are not free; those who suffer for freedom’s cause; those who are poor, out of work, needy, sick, or alone; those who are persecuted for their religious convictions, those still ravaged by war.
And most of all, God Almighty, we thank you for the great gift of our beloved country.
For we are indeed “one nation under God,” and “in God we trust.”
So dear God, bless America. You who live and reign forever and ever.
Amen!

Dolan Urges Catholics to Become More Active in Politics
HICKSVILLE, N.Y. — Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan told Roman Catholics on Saturday that in an era when the church was fighting the government on several fronts, they needed to make their voices heard more clearly in the political sphere.
Speaking at a diocesan convocation on public policy here, Cardinal Dolan, who is the archbishop of New York and president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, said, “We are called to be very active, very informed and very involved in politics.” READ THE REST
I've been saying this ever since I moved away from only posting on Catholic "stuff", because, you see, politics is Catholic stuff whether you wish to admit it or not.
The end result of the actions of Catholics who consider themselves "above the fray", is the election of the most pro-abortion, radically anti-religious president in the history of this republic. Catholics who know very little about their faith and bought into the "hope and change" are responsible for the current war being waged on the Church by the Obama administration. How's that "staying above the fray" working out for you?
Let's Kill the Newborns
Ever since that article from a couple of individuals who consider themselves "ethicists", advocating for the right for parents to kill their babies, I have been unable to write about it. Why? Because I actually know people who would see nothing at all wrong with this approach. The realization of the depravity of these individuals left me rather stunned. I always knew they were a bit "off", but really had a hard time acknowledging their basic evilness.
I admit that even evil people can occasionally do nice things. After all, Hitler loved dogs. And some evil people like to serve soup at the local kitchens for poor people. None of this changes the fact that some people are evil and are probably not able to be redeemed.
Most of these folks who believe in killing newborns (even, in some cases, up to many months old), also laud philosopher Peter Singer as their hero. They think he's brilliant. Peter Singer not only advocates killing babies, but thinks if you and your doberman share a close bond, you should solidify that closeness by engaging in sex with each other.
The images that pop into my mind at the thought give new meaning to the word "disgusting." Do married couples who admire Singer engage in threesomes with their pets, or do they just have an open marriage? Inquiring minds want to know...
American Thinker: Article Advocating 'After-Birth Abortion' Mugs Liberals with Reality
Conservatives were horrified when the Journal of Medical Ethics published an article advocating "after-birth abortion" for handicapped, or just inconvenient, babies. They are correct that it is a disgusting piece of amoral analysis, but that is its virtue. As much as conservatives hate it, progressives hate it more. Many are convinced that it's a plant by the pro-life crowd. What progressives cannot articulate, but intuitively understand, is that by applying a reductio ad absurdum approach to the notion of abortion, the article forces pro-abortion people to confront the Big Lie that underpins their willingness to terminate a pregnancy, even an advanced one. RightKlik: Julian Savulescu's Bloody Evil: Making "Ethics" Irrelevant?
[...]In promoting barbarism under the banner of "medical ethics," Savulescu is turning his field of study into an unenlightened, illiberal, atavistic charnelosophy, hardly distinguishable from the moral codes of the 20th century's most industrious sociopaths. If the field medical "ethics" becomes morally repugnant, can medical ethicists expect to remain relevant? READ THE REST
