What does being pro-life really mean?...

Rebecca Taylor at Creative Minority Report brings us an interesting take on the subject.

 Being Pro-life 3.0

This characterization of the many facets of being pro-life is so brilliant I wish I could say I thought of it.  Scott Rae, in an interview with John Stonestreet at BreakPoint.org, brings the pro-life movement into the 21st century in an attempt to get us all to wake up to the perils we are facing.

Rae describes three progressions of pro-life issues:

• Pro-life 1.0 deals with "the taking of life."  Abortion, assisted suicide, and euthanasia
• Pro-life 2.0 deals with "the making of life."  Artificial insemination, IVF, surrogacy, preimplantation genetic diagnosis, egg and sperm "donation"
• Pro-life 3.0 deals with "the remaking of life."  Genetic engineering, human enhancements, nanotechnology, human cloning, transhumanism

Idaho Senate Approves Bill Making Assisted Suicide a Felony...

While the country is focused on Wisconsin and other high-profile battles, little ol' Idaho keeps chugging along.  While Washington state, driven by those living east of the Cascades, Oregon, and Montana think killing old or sick people is a good idea, you may consider yourself safe in Idaho.

While surrounding states like Washington and Oregon pushed ahead to become the first in the nation to legalize assisted suicide and Montana could be right behind them, Idaho passed a bill to make the practice a felony.

The Idaho Senate voted overwhelmingly Friday to do that and to revoke licenses from physicians who prescribe a lethal cocktail of drugs for patients to use to kill themselves. The law also allows people to get injunctions to prevent others from killing themselves with a doctor’s help. If it becomes law, those found guilty face five years in prison.  read the rest

Citizen Assisted Suicide...

So we have a guy in Minnesota accused of encouraging people to commit suicide. What exactly is the difference between what this guy did and what the government is doing in states like Oregon and Washington?  Want to kill yourself in these states and the doctor will help.

Oh yeah, did I mention he's a nurse?

And lets not forget the women in Oregon who was refused cancer treatment by the state run medical plan and offered doctor assisted suicide instead.

MINNEAPOLIS – A nurse who authorities say got his kicks by visiting Internet suicide chat rooms and encouraging depressed people to kill themselves is under investigation in at least two deaths and could face criminal charges that could test the limits of the First Amendment. read the rest
