My thoughts on the debate...

mean absolutely nothing and so I'll keep them to myself.

(other than the Newt take-down of King which made my heart sing)

Something I've always hated is when any political figure makes a speech or engages in what passes for a debate, the after-show talking heads come on and tell us what was just said.  I know what was said because I just listened to it, but secure in their pomposity, they assume we're too stupid to understand what was just said.

"You just don't understand", is loony left code for, "The discussion is closed because you're stupid and I'm smart."  It's dismissive, and it's a way to stop any conversation they know they'd lose because they have no facts to back up their statements.  Most people can handle someone hating them or loving them, but if you want to drive someone into a state of rage, just dismiss them and pretend they're irrelevant.

I have deliberately avoided reading anything having to do with the debate, particularly in regard to the ones who proudly claim who "won" the debate.  I'll decide who "won" the debate based on what I saw and heard.  Please don't assume I'm dumping on the many fine conservative bloggers who have posted fine articles about the debate, because I am most assuredly not.   I just don't want to be swayed in my opinions by anyone, and reading many opinions tends to confuse.  I would rather take time to ponder and "trust but verify" all by myself.

That being said, allow the kitteh to speak to the loony left:

Gingrich/Cain Debate is a go...

should be good.

Maggie, over at her Notebook, has details.  I hope they find someone to televise it.  I'm not sure Cain can hold his own against Gingrich.  What do you think?

Cain Gingrich Debate Nov. 5: Texas Tea Party Patriots Sponsor Gingrich Cain Debate
Texas Tea Party Patriots are sponsoring a debate between presidential hopefuls Herman Cain and Newt Gingrich on November 5th. Now, that’s what I’m talkin’ about. Congressman Steve King (R-IA) will be one of the moderators. Here’s how Newt described the offer from the Texas Tea Party Patriots:   read the rest

The obligatory "who won the debate" post...

not sure who won, but I sure know who lost.  We did.

I really have no idea of what exactly that cat fight called a "debate" was about.  Far too many people on our side saw the sniping and snarling as a good thing.  I see it as a waste of time.  First they piled on Cain's 9-9-9 plan and clearly did not understand how the plan works.  Then it was Santorum attacking Mittens on RomneyCare leading into Perry taking pot shots at him on immigration.

Gingrich, clearly the smartest guy on the stage (next to Mr. Cain), is phoning in his campaign.  Michele Bachmann, obviously a lovely and intelligent lady, needs to quit flapping her fake nails with the overdone French manicure around - it's a distraction from her message.

Ron Paul has released his Restore America Plan.  It's good and deserving of study.  And Mr. Cain has the particulars of 9-9-9 on his website.  Also worthy of study.   Perry?  I've come to believe that Perry was pushed into the race in order to bolster Romney, who it appears is the choice of the political elites in the GOP.

Why are we the ultimate losers?  Because we learned nothing last night except which potential candidate has the ability to act like an adult.  And so did the dems who will use that information in the future to demonize the candidates.

Let's face some facts here - brutal though they may be. Most people don't give a rats rear patoot about all this political stuff.  They're either too busy earning a living and raising a family or too mired in intellectual complacency to find out on their own what is true. Unfortunately, these people can vote.

On another note and completely off topic:

It was interesting to see Wayne Newton at the debates.  My husband and I were married over 33 year's ago in LasVegas and attended his show that evening.  Without a doubt, that man is the hardest working entertainer in Vegas and has every right to hold the title of "Mr. LasVegas."   When he saw the flowers I had with me (we were sitting directly on the edge of the stage thanks to the $20.00 bucks slipped to the maitre d'), he asked if we had just gotten married.  When he learned we had indeed just been married, he ordered enough champagne to our table to share with several folks sitting around us. He also dedicated the entire show to us, and presented us with a complete tape of the entire show.  Nice touch from a nice man!

Did you get a chance to see the Romney/Perry debate?...

there were six other people there, too.

The big issue seemed to be Social Security.  Is it a Ponzi scheme or isn't it?  Personally, I think it comes closer to legalized, mandated theft - but that's just me.

And I'm really tired of "seniors" being depicted as a bunch of cowering, simple minded, diaper wearing idiots who live in a constant state of fear that their government pittance will be taken from them.  Note to all whippersnappers:  We are the last generation to have received even a modicum of education.  We can read, write, and think.  And most of us know that SS is a Ponzi scheme.  My mother, if she was alive, would be about 98 years old.  She knew it was a Ponzi scheme 60 years ago.

That's all for now.

Almost recovered...

from house guest heaven.

The very best part of having house guests is being able to see where you live through their eyes - and you can color it very good.

The Republican debate this evening was good and all presented well except for Huntsman.  Let's face it, Huntsman is creepy.

The well covered Hoffa and Biden speeches left me breathless with shock.  When a Vice President of the United States of America refers to what represents the majority of the citizens of this country as "barbarians", we are in serious trouble.  And Hoffa as warm-up act for Obama with his profanity laced speech?  Despicable!

On a lighter note, my regular readers will remember that last year we lost both of our "girls."  Both our doggies left us for doggie heaven within 6 weeks of each other.  We decided that life without a doggie was a bit lonely but certainly easier.  Until ---------------------------- this little girl showed up on Petfinder.

Meet Gigi:

photos from the Petfinder site

From Petfinder:
***UPDATED 9-05-11***
This scruffy faced little doll was an owner surrender. She was originally rescued from an abusive situation and was taken into a caring and loving home. Gigi has had a lot of training which includes: sit, down & stay, kennel up, quiet, off and get on your bed. This little gal also walks well on a leash.
Gigi would do well in a home with adults only or children as she does love everyone. Also good with cats and dogs. She will need someone who is home quite a bit as she really wants to be with people and does not like to be left alone for long periods of time. This lively little gal bonds very quickly and wants to please the people in her life.
She is quite energetic and needs a home that will give her a fair amount of exercise and mental stimulation. Gigi is only 18 months of age and will require regular grooming.
When I called River City Pet Rescue yesterday Gigi was having a "try out" in a home and they said they'd call if it didn't work out.  Guess what?  It obviously didn't work out and...

Gigi  is coming for a home visit tomorrow evening.  We are so excited!
