From the Combox with a rebuttal...

A frequent commenter, who considers herself a Catholic, has this to say:
"I am proud of Mrs. Pelosi in being the first female Speaker of the House and running a tight ship. Mothers and grandmothers have valuable experience great for running a home or a House."
Really?  Are you proud of the way this mother and grandmother distorted the teachings of the Catholic Church?  Are you proud that she said the "Catholic Church was still confused about when life begins?"  Are you proud that she would, in all probablility, advise her granddaughter to have an abortion rather than "be punished with a baby?"

Tight ship?  No, Ms. Commenter - Ms. Pelosi is not a "tight ship", unless you are perhaps referring to her face.   She is a lapsed Catholic who may have led an unknown number of souls to hell.  Are you proud of that?

When we stand before our Lord and Savior, His first question will be, "how did we treat our fellow man?"  Leading people down the path of degenerate and evil behavior will probably not sit too well with Him.  However, none of us shall know one way or another until Judgment Day smacks us upside the head.  For me, I think sticking with the wisdom of Pascal suits me a lot better than the "let's get along and make it up as we go" crowd.  I'll not only gather on the side of believing in the existence of God, I'll also gather on the side of believing what He teaches - and that doesn't include much of anything Pelosi seems to believe.

My suggestion?  Get out your Catechism and learn what the Church teaches. It is clear, concise, and very simple for those who "have ears to hear" (Matthew 11:15).

Well said, Adrienne. Thanks. I've always liked Pascal's wager myself too.

Bob - Yep! Why take a chance...

Sub - thanks. If there's anything I can't stand it's a priggish CINO...

I said of a person you do not like, I was proud of the position she had gotten as Speaker of the House of Representatives. I tried to insert a bit of humor on a continuingly contentious viewpoint by saying a woman who can raise children and manage a home, can do other work.

With this I got to read your personal opinion of Mrs. Pelosi's character, once again. You didn't need to elaborate as I was aware of your opinion. Then you question my fervor, belief in God and choice of religion. Oh and I was provided instruction of what I should do to question my statement about the person whose character you repeatedly passed judgment on.

Alright, my comments are somehow making you angrier. I will try to only comment if I can find some nugget that agrees with yous. Things seem to be calmer in this space when those who read you agree.

It is not "passing judgment" when Ms. Pelosi's stances on these issues have been publicly stated BY HER, it is actual fact that these public stances on these issues is in direct contrast to the beliefs of our Mother Church! So what, she was first female? It would have meant a lot more if she had stood for the beliefs of her faith; only THEN would I feel congratulatory toward her. She did NOTHING once she got into the job but assist Obama in muddling up this country more than it ever was. I'll take the Bible every day and die for it if I must! But turning my back and winking for the sake of politics? I wouldn't even be friends with her.

Pascal's wager is a false dilemma.

Also, I think that it is presumptuous to make judgments about how many people Ms. Pelosi is leading to hell. How many people are you and I leading to hell? (if there is a hell).

Dear Miss Charlene, I am assuming that Adrienne wouldn't like it if we "parroted" all of her postings. Brown nosers are boring and for me it's been through the disagreements that I have learn the most. I'm speaking for myself when I say that anyone who sides with the "Pelosi" mentality is a traitor Catholic, which I define as someone who espouses ideas that are contrary to our Catholic teaching. Now to disagree with Catholic teaching is fine and dandy if you weren't claiming yourself to BE A CATHOLIC. Someone who says's one thing and does another comes off as schizophrenic and as someone who isn't mentally competent enough to begin a task because they're unable to see where their decisions lead us or have led us. Many, like Pelosi are unable to see the ramifications of their actions and worse yet these kind of people blame others when their blunders come to light.

If a persons faith is most near and dear to their hearts and a person betrays that which is dearest to them, then how in the hell can we expect Pelosi and the others like her not to betray us ? To believe they wouldn't do such a thing would make us schizophrenic as well and unable to see where our actions lead us.

But the picture is bigger and bleaker than we consider as we forget that the real battle isn't between Republicans and Democrats but between good and evil and it's about each individual soul and when famous people and politicitians say or do things to influence the souls of others in a dire negative way , we die hard christians take it personally.

Everyone seems to be in a freaky land of denial.

BTW. I'm sick of both parties. I want to see them ALL replaced. P.D.Q.

Abby, Adrienne and Belinda--

Better than I could have said it.

Charlene--

I am so ashamed to call Pelosi a Catholic, i refuse to do it. And i have seen many women who "ran a house" or "raised a family" who did it so poorly that no one in the family keeps the faith, yet are considered successful by the world that I no longer consider being a wife and mother that isn't vilified by the dominant culture a good thing. Thank God the Queen of the huse and my daughters are looked at as old fashioned and narrow mindedly religious.
