Elle

 Update 4:00am

Elle passed away

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.

Prayers Needed

Elle had to be rushed to the emergency hospital.  My long-time readers will remember when she was so ill just a little over a year ago and had emergency surgery. She has  Lymphangiectasia and takes medication and eats a special diet.

Tonight, several hours after dinner, she spit up and was obviously in much distress. We almost lost her last year before she was diagnosed.  X-rays are showing some thickening of the intestinal wall.  They'll be calling soon with the blood test results.

I'm not sure I can handle much more...

Update 12:15am:

Elle spit up the rest of her dinner. Blood work showing pancreatitis.  White blood count is very low.  She is on an IV drip with antibiotics and fluid.  She's had some pain meds and is resting.    They will run more blood work in the early morning and do another x-ray.

I need some rest...

Update 6:30 am:

She had a scary "episode" in the middle of the night. Temperature shot up extremely high.  They administered more antibiotic and some other drugs.  Temp dropped and this morning she is acting almost normal.  They're repeating the blood work and taking more x-rays.

I blame Bush!!

Update 12 noon:

Elle had a plasma transfusion to help with any possible infection.  We'll be seeing her at 5 PM bringing along her special food.

Tomorrow she will be taken to her regular doctor for more care.

Elle is no longer the $5000.00 dog. She is now the $6000.00 dog

I still blame Bush...

Update 6:10pm -

There was some debate over a "mass" in her tummy showing on the x-rays they did this morning.  The doctor was betting it was food. We now know it was definitely food since she spit it up all over me when we visited.  A mother's love will do that...

She's a very groggy and very unhappy little pooch.

We're planning on bringing formal charges against Bush...

Prayers are sent!

It is amazing how important pets can become to us. Members of our families, really. So, prayers and hopeful wishes that Ellie will make a full recovery!

Our cat is also named Elie, however small would not be a description of her.

My best to you and her.

I know you don't know me, but I lost my beloved Maxie in June (she was the first listed on Prayers for our Pets in the passed away column). I can certainly sympathize with you as my pain is recent. Be at peace knowing that you did all you could for your beloved pet. She'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge. My prayers that you will find comfort in her peace.

Oh no! I'm so sorry!
My sweet chocolate lab is our $10,000 dog...after three surgeries for a shattered elbow when she was only 12 weeks old, physical therapy, and other various health issues since then, and I would do it all over again...twice, if needed.

It's obvious that you did all you could to make her happy and comfortable, a wonderful gift for your beloved Elle.

I'll pray for you to get through this new loss.

Over the years here we have lost three very loved pooches.
The hardest was losing our "Josie", 14 yrs, a real gem...I thought she had a urinary infection, took her to the vet and found out she was dying from renal failure...had to put her down that day.
I was in such grief; I was there alone with her. Such misery.
God love ya, Adrienne. Prayers.

The loss of a friend, even a non humam one is always tough.

May your grief be brief, your memories happy and your prayers answered.

I'm so sorry...
I cried for three days after my favorite dog died.(I was 30ish) My sister in law thought that I was crazy. She scoffed and rolled her eyes at me and made the whole matter worse.
When I pulled myself together I drove to the pound and quickly tried to replace the dog, but I learned that just like people , they are not the same and can't be replaced.
I was so angry that I swore that I would never love a pet again, but I was unable to keep that promise. I sure know how you feel and I am sorry.

Uhhh! I just dropped by to see if she'd perked up... what a disappointment, I'm so sorry Adrienne-

If I can help in any way... once you feel a little better, blogging and railing against socialists ought to take your mind away from things-

Bad luck always comes in streaks like this... it is unfortunate your recent drama has been so substantial and grim- my prayers are with you.

Gosh, what can I say? You've lost your best little girlfriend! Looks like you 'has a sad' yet again.

My thoughts and prayers are for you. May my Dodge found your Ellie and they are hanging together with St. Peter, of course! The new welcoming committee! I missed him terribly over the holidays.

Anyway, so sorry my friend.

HUGS!
Ebeth

Adrienne, I am so very sorry. I don't know if you remember, but my mom's little cairn terrier, Chuy, also died from pancreatitis last spring. It is very difficult for them to get well when they have it. Praying that you will be comforted by memories of Elle. Sending you a hug!
