Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò - Open Letter to Donald Trump (video and transcript)...

this is a powerful message to everyone from the good Archbishop.

Michael Matt, of The Remnant Newspaper, has done a lovely rendering of the letter - and we thank him. The transcript for those who would rather read follows the video.

While consuming way too much riot news, I was working up to a valid and monstrous rant.  But, when I saw the headline about Churchill's statue in London being vandalized  yesterday, which was also D-Day, it knocked the stuffing out of me.

Why attack Churchill?

I have no idea, and neither do the feral animals who did it.

Was Churchill a perfect man? Oh, hell noes! But do those fools realize that if it hadn't been for Churchill they'd all be speaking German right now and Heil Hitlering some filthy scum successor of the original model for insanity?

After finishing The Splendid and the Vile, by Erik Larson (highly recommended), a very personal look at Churchill and WWII during the blitz, I saw many similarities between Churchill and Trump.

Is Trump perfect? Also no. But, neither are you, me, your next door neighbor, or the guy that cuts your hair perfect. The only man who walked the earth who was perfect was Jesus Christ.  And if we don't turn back to Him post haste, I fear for our future, the future of our children, the future of this country, and the future of the world

Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò has released this powerful letter today (6/7/2020) to President Trump warning him that the current crises over the coronavirus pandemic and the George Floyd riots are a part of the eternal spiritual struggle between the forces of good and evil. He encourages the president to continue the fight on behalf of the “children of light.”

Holy Trinity Sunday
Mr. President,
In recent months we have been witnessing the formation of two opposing sides that I would call Biblical: the children of light and the children of darkness. The children of light constitute the most conspicuous part of humanity, while the children of darkness represent an absolute minority. And yet the former are the object of a sort of discrimination which places them in a situation of moral inferiority with respect to their adversaries, who often hold strategic positions in government, in politics, in the economy and in the media. In an apparently inexplicable way, the good are held hostage by the wicked and by those who help them either out of self-interest or fearfulness.
These two sides, which have a Biblical nature, follow the clear separation between the offspring of the Woman and the offspring of the Serpent. On the one hand there are those who, although they have a thousand defects and weaknesses, are motivated by the desire to do good, to be honest, to raise a family, to engage in work, to give prosperity to their homeland, to help the needy, and, in obedience to the Law of God, to merit the Kingdom of Heaven. On the other hand, there are those who serve themselves, who do not hold any moral principles, who want to demolish the family and the nation, exploit workers to make themselves unduly wealthy, foment internal divisions and wars, and accumulate power and money: for them the fallacious illusion of temporal well-being will one day – if they do not repent – yield to the terrible fate that awaits them, far from God, in eternal damnation.vig trump 2
In society, Mr. President, these two opposing realities co-exist as eternal enemies, just as God and Satan are eternal enemies. And it appears that the children of darkness – whom we may easily identify with the deep state which you wisely oppose and which is fiercely waging war against you in these days – have decided to show their cards, so to speak, by now revealing their plans. They seem to be so certain of already having everything under control that they have laid aside that circumspection that until now had at least partially concealed their true intentions. The investigations already under way will reveal the true responsibility of those who managed the Covid emergency not only in the area of health care but also in politics, the economy, and the media. We will probably find that in this colossal operation of social engineering there are people who have decided the fate of humanity, arrogating to themselves the right to act against the will of citizens and their representatives in the governments of nations.
We will also discover that the riots in these days were provoked by those who, seeing that the virus is inevitably fading and that the social alarm of the pandemic is waning, necessarily have had to provoke civil disturbances, because they would be followed by repression which, although legitimate, could be condemned as an unjustified aggression against the population. The same thing is also happening in Europe, in perfect synchrony. It is quite clear that the use of street protests is instrumental to the purposes of those who would like to see someone elected in the upcoming presidential elections who embodies the goals of the deep state and who expresses those goals faithfully and with conviction. It will not be surprising if, in a few months, we learn once again that hidden behind these acts of vandalism and violence there are those who hope to profit from the dissolution of the social order so as to build a world without freedom: Solve et Coagula, as the Masonic adage teaches.vig trump 3
Although it may seem disconcerting, the opposing alignments I have described are also found in religious circles. There are faithful Shepherds who care for the flock of Christ, but there are also mercenary infidels who seek to scatter the flock and hand the sheep over to be devoured by ravenous wolves. It is not surprising that these mercenaries are allies of the children of darkness and hate the children of light: just as there is a deep state, there is also a deep church that betrays its duties and forswears its proper commitments before God. Thus the Invisible Enemy, whom good rulers fight against in public affairs, is also fought against by good shepherds in the ecclesiastical sphere. It is a spiritual battle, which I spoke about in my recent Appeal which was published on May 8.
For the first time, the United States has in you a President who courageously defends the right to life, who is not ashamed to denounce the persecution of Christians throughout the world, who speaks of Jesus Christ and the right of citizens to freedom of worship. Your participation in the March for Life, and more recently your proclamation of the month of April as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, are actions that confirm which side you wish to fight on. And I dare to believe that both of us are on the same side in this battle, albeit with different weapons.vig trump 4
For this reason, I believe that the attack to which you were subjected after your visit to the National Shrine of Saint John Paul II is part of the orchestrated media narrative which seeks not to fight racism and bring social order, but to aggravate dispositions; not to bring justice, but to legitimize violence and crime; not to serve the truth, but to favor one political faction. And it is disconcerting that there are Bishops – such as those whom I recently denounced – who, by their words, prove that they are aligned on the opposing side. They are subservient to the deep state, to globalism, to aligned thought, to the New World Order which they invoke ever more frequently in the name of a universal brotherhood which has nothing Christian about it, but which evokes the Masonic ideals of those who want to dominate the world by driving God out of the courts, out of schools, out of families, and perhaps even out of churches.
The American people are mature and have now understood how much the mainstream media does not want to spread the truth but seeks to silence and distort it, spreading the lie that is useful for the purposes of their masters. However, it is important that the good – who are the majority – wake up from their sluggishness and do not accept being deceived by a minority of dishonest people with unavowable purposes. It is necessary that the good, the children of light, come together and make their voices heard. What more effective way is there to do this, Mr. President, than by prayer, asking the Lord to protect you, the United States, and all of humanity from this enormous attack of the Enemy? Before the power of prayer, the deceptions of the children of darkness will collapse, their plots will be revealed, their betrayal will be shown, their frightening power will end in nothing, brought to light and exposed for what it is: an infernal deception.
Mr. President, my prayer is constantly turned to the beloved American nation, where I had the privilege and honor of being sent by Pope Benedict XVI as Apostolic Nuncio. In this dramatic and decisive hour for all of humanity, I am praying for you and also for all those who are at your side in the government of the United States. I trust that the American people are united with me and you in prayer to Almighty God.
United against the Invisible Enemy of all humanity, I bless you and the First Lady, the beloved American nation, and all men and women of good will.

Darkest Hour...

is a winner.

Synopsis:
During the early days of World War II, with the fall of France imminent, Britain faces its darkest hour as the threat of invasion looms. As the seemingly unstoppable Nazi forces advance, and with the Allied army cornered on the beaches of Dunkirk, the fate of Western Europe hangs on the leadership of the newly-appointed British Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Academy Award nominee Gary Oldman). While maneuvering his political rivals, he must confront the ultimate choice: negotiate with Hitler and save the British people at a terrible cost or rally the nation and fight on against incredible odds. Directed by Joe Wright, DARKEST HOUR is the dramatic and inspiring story of four weeks in 1940 during which Churchill's courage to lead changed the course of world history.  source
For the past few years I've been reading not only WWII historical novels, but also history books on the war, and marvel at the strength of the European people when faced with such evil.

Winston Churchill, by all accounts, was an outspoken, brash, and often unpleasant person.  And yet, we can say with some certainty, that if it hadn't been for his leadership and the bravery of the English people, they might be speaking German now.

You must remember that at the start of the war people didn't view Hitler as we do today.  No one knew about the Nazi death camps and, if I understand it correctly, people generally made fun of him and were yet to understand what a murderous maniac he was.  And yet Churchill did see it, and he led the people to see it also.

There's a series on Amazon, The Man in the High Castle, that depicts the U.S. in the early sixties as though the Germans had won the war.  I stopped after three episodes because it was so ludicrous and badly acted.  However, it does make one stop and think what the world might be like now if Hitler had prevailed.

Historically, the movie is dead on.  Other than a few scenes added for drama, it shows the terrible decisions Churchill had to make against a good number of his own party who were against him.

It is difficult, as I was a Trump supporter from the day of the famous escalator ride to  announce his candidacy, to not compare him to Churchill.  I believe God sends certain people to do what needs to be done at a certain time.  I believe Trump is that person just as Churchill was before him.

And just as the English did not know the importance of the history that was being made in those early years of the war, so it is that many people today are completely unaware of the history that is being made right now.

Gary Oldman is brilliant as Churchill. The screenwriting, score, and cinematography, as well as the direction is also brilliant. Darkest Hour is a movie well worth your time.

Today is my history club meeting.  I take a small sketch book, as I do to all meetings, in which to doodle because it helps me focus.  It also enables me to jot down a note if something of importance is said or there is a point I'd like to research further.

Last week as I was trying out my new brush pens I wrote:

History is the Future

Think about that.

Churchill: The Gathering Storm...

is waiting for me.

I plan on reading the entire 6 volume set about WWII.  Our local library has the entire set and The Gathering Storm is awaiting my attention.

Since we are witnesses to our very own "gathering storm", I thought it important to learn more about the beginnings of WWII.  History does have a way of repeating itself.

I'm in the habit of looking up books I plan to read on Amazon and reading the reviews.  Usually I stick to the 5-star and 1-star reviews and judge accordingly.

I found this 1-star review of The Gathering Storm rather hilarious:
Too many details are making this book quite boring. I believe a reader is not interested that much in so many detals, for instance for the operations in Norway, but more in the general points that will make the book easy and intereting to read. Probably this book might be of interest for people and experts who deal with history, but not that much for commercial reader. Seems that Mr. Churchill want to emphasize his role and his predictions about the beginning of WWII.
This is how one person replied to the above review:
This review is peevish, small and narrow-minded. This great work is not light and mindless entertainment. Churchill never "dumbed down" his books. I disagree that the Norway campaign was unneeded detail. Britain's continued existence depended on its ability to contain the Germans submarine fleets and bases in Norway in the hands of the Germans greatly increased their ability to protect their submarine pens on their northern coast. Hitler and Churchill both understood this, and acted on it. Anyone who wishes to avoid detail should read the greatly condensed version of this monumental work.

Highly Recommended Reading for this Weekend:

Maggie, proprietress of Maggie's Notebook, has put together another wonderful post on Agenda 21.  I admire her tenacious research and if you're not up to speed on Agenda 21, she has further articles linked at the bottom on this newest one.

Since we live on five acres and I see bits and pieces of this creeping into our North Idaho paradise, I've been following this closely.  If you live in a city or suburb, the impact will be just as devastating - if not more so.

I find it amusing that I have commie relatives who tout the whole saving the earth garbage when they don't even own a houseplant.

On the other hand, we bought a house located on a barren 5-acre plot which was 100% covered with noxious weeds (can you say knapweed?)  Together we planted close to 200 trees, 150 shrubs, installed a veggie garden, meditation garden, cutting garden, and started a daylily nursery.

So who's really helping the environment?

Personal Notes on Owning a Cat

When you live in the country and own a cat, it is inevitable that other cats are attracted to your property.  Our little kitty, Erica, who weighs in at a mighty 6 lbs on her fat days, is a fierce protector of her domain.

This morning we were alerted to the presence of a foreign cat when our little doggie erupted by the back slider.  There's a few rather large bully cats (at least 12 to 15 lbs), who like to cavort in our backyard.

Erica was having none of that and I spied our brave little girl, tail puffed up to the size of a raccoon, stalking the big bully cat ready to do battle to protect her turf.  I ran out and shooed the bully out of the yard.

I wonder if I would ever be that brave?
