Google Reader

My Google Reader is all up and humming right along. Number of Catholic blogs logged in? Glad you asked - 160. And I wondered where my time went??

That number does not include the news sites I frequent. Add another 35
I am truly insane and need to get a life

Toledo

Comments

Sheesh guys. When I said what I said about comments, I wasn't pointing fingers or asking for sympathy. So --- no more guilt (even though I think guilt is the best part of being Catholic), and no more feeling sorry for me. I'll be just fine after the red in my eyes from crying clears up.....

A Note for Toby from Elle

Dear Toby,

*****Just a quick note to welcome you to the family. Since your Dad is my Mom's cyber- nephew, I guess that makes us cousins. So, I was reading some of that info posted about you and I thought since I am older and wiser, a little advice was in order.

*****Whooeeeee - I can sure remember the chewing days. Dang dude, I chewed everything in the entire house except the shoes. One time I even ate the corner off the coffee table. Who needs a chew stick when you can have a whole table? So here's the deal. Take advantage of your little size and big eyes and your people will tolerate almost anything. Work that innocent puppy stuff for all it's worth.

****I was so gosh darn good at it that one day my halter got caught on the stand where my Dad's banjo was sitting. He was busy teaching a lesson and didn't notice. I pulled over the banjo and his custom built (in Nashville, no less), banjo neck broke. When my Mom got home she thought for sure one or the other of us was going to get killed. But guess what? I just acted really scared, which is easy to do when you weigh 3 pounds, and my Dad DEFENDED me to my Mom. He was babbling about how I could have gotten hurt and on and on. Can you believe it? Pretty cool!!

****Ok, so back to you. About that nose. Is it going to grow a little bit? Maybe in time protrude outwards a bit? I mean - don't get me wrong. It's an ok nose but it is, shall we say, a bit challenged. I guess no one will really notice if it doesn't grow since you are a blond and have great eyes. They say people notice the eyes first.

****Everyone likes my friend Stella even though she has really short legs. Now there's a gal who knows how to work the cute thing. We could all take some lessons from her.

****Not to say that I'm perfect. No siree Bob - I'd never say that. As a matter of fact, my Dad just said I looked like a python that just ate a rat. It seems the groomer left some longer fur over my rib cage that poofs out, hence the rat thing. Mom said she'd fix it.
****Next - find some really cute poses and always, always act really, really excited to see your people. People tend to be pretty insecure, and this reassures them of their value, which we all know is getting the lid off the dog food can. We could rule the world if we had thumbs, doncha know?

****See how my body language lets my people know I am anxiously awaiting their return. Now bubble butt Angela, being a cat, doesn't see the need for this sort of stuff. She just kinda sits there giving me the ol' evil eye, like I'm some kinda suck up weasel. She may be right, but until I get thumbs, I'm not taking any chances.

Welcome Toby!!

Outstanding Response

Oh my! I sure didn't expect the level of emotion the city of Toledo would wrench up from the lower depths of people's psyche.

How about some Toledoens (?) jumping in to defend their bailiwick? If you have no clue about what I am talking about, read next post.

House Cleaning
Help Needed

****Thanks to Diva Mom Vickie over at Adventures of Bittyman and his Sidekick Ittyboy, my brand new Facebook friend, I realized that I was on Internet Explorer instead of my usual Firefox. I am such an idiot that when we hooked up our DSL, I never noticed that my computer guru took me off Firefox. Now how's that for dim? So now to get my Google reader fully stocked is just a matter of clicking on a little icon. Cool!

Blog Rollin'

****My blog needs it's links updated in the worse way. Don't be shy! Let me know if I have not included you on my links. I will do my best over the next few days to update but I could miss someone. It's ok for you to let me know by email if you prefer to not appear like a whiny, "what about meeeeee type", which I assure you would not be the case. Just sayin'.....

Facebook

****Please be my friend on Facebook. I love reading updates on what is going on in people's lives. Nothing is too mundane to warrant my attention. What you eat for breakfast (I hope it's bacon, though (unless you're a vegetarian in which case it would have to be fakin' bacon)), is of utmost importance to me. If the link is not the proper one you may find me by name Adrienne Streeter.

Comments

****I read each and every one of my comments and I try to respond to each and every one. But sometimes I actually have days where it appears that I have some semblance of a life, and then I don't get around to doing my part to make you feel welcome. You are!!!

****I have a few blogs I go to and leave comments on a fairly regular basis. It seems that everyone else is routinely acknowledged except yours truly. I hate that feeling. It's liked being picked last for the baseball team when you were a kid. So if I have inadvertently made anyone feel that way you have permission to flog me with a spaghetti noodle. A real class act is someone like Philip Blosser over at Musings of a Pertinacious Papist ,who actually came to my blog and thanked me for visiting him. Cool! I shall endeavor to be more like Philip.

TOLEDO*???

****Hubby and I have been considering a move to another part of the country. Even though it is very beautiful here, we feel that it might be time to move back to a city atmosphere where we can walk to coffee shops and take advantage of more cultural activities. There has also been some rather uncontrolled development problems that are making our town look not too pretty.

****The other main consideration is housing cost. It would not make sense for us at our age to sell our home and pour every dime back into another property. The local economy of our destination is not a big deal as we both make our living primarily on the Internet. In addition to his company, LeWalt Publishing, my hubby is much in demand as a guitar, banjo, and mandolin teacher. He also teaches at the local college and runs the New Horizon Music Program at Holy Names Music Academy in Spokane. Those things can be duplicated most anywhere.

****We have been looking at Toledo, Ohio - more specifically the Old West End, the largest neighborhood of late Victorian, Edwardian, and Arts and Crafts home east of the Mississippi. Housing prices are phenomenally low and since we both love older homes it is looking pretty good for a future home.

****I was born and raised in St. Paul, MN, and hubby came from Minneapolis, so it is not too different from anything we know. Neither of us is a stranger to long distance moves. I lived for almost 17 years in Houston, and we both spent 10 years in Sedona, AZ, and 21 years here in beautiful North Idaho. There was a 2 year "stop-over" in Phoenix on the way to Idaho that we are trying to forget as it turned into the longest 100 years of our life.

****There are many famous people from Toledo who regard it with great affection. Notable is Uncle Jim, blogger and remodeler extraordinaire. Check out his latest efforts at his blog a second chance. Simple Sinner over at Black Cordelias is another famous native of Toledo and thinks it is a super neat place. Jay Anderson over at Pro Ecclesia, Pro Familia, Pro Civitate moved to Norwalk, Ohio (not too far from Toledo), and loves the area.

What do you think????

P.S. I was going to post on the subject of spiritual directors but Terry over at Abbey-Roads stole my idea and did such a great job I feel beholden to just send you over there. That is - after you weigh in on Toledo.
