Santorum is only half right: Obama is not just a snob...

but a not very bright one.

Did I go to college?  Yes.  And then I got smart and went to "beauty" school, otherwise called a college of cosmetology.  Out of curiosity, I went on a little Google hunt for the average earnings of attorneys.  Here's what I discovered.   After comparing stats from numerous sites, I came up with average earning capabilities for attorneys of between 40K - 80K, depending on the city in which they were practicing.

Over time, an attorney in some big hot-shot firm could earn up to 170K per year.  Only a very few who graduate each year, however, and only those from so-called upper tier schools, have a chance of worming their way into such a situation.

I have news for the elitist snobs of the world.  A good hairdresser, plumber, electrician, or landscaper can earn way more than that.   The elitists will claim that an attorney will have the potential to earn an increasing amount of money due to his education.  That's not necessarily so, however, because hairdressers, plumbers, electricians, and landscapers can eventually start their own businesses, if they choose, just as I did, and advance in earnings as high, or higher, than an attorney.

When did we turn into a country that disparaged the trades? Take a gander at many of the average college students today.  Border line functionally illiterate, they typically take crap courses, taught by Marxist professors.  They look like slobs and have the morals of alley cats.  They graduate with high sounding degrees in courses like women's studies, philosophy, and dance while putting themselves into massive debt.  How smart is that?

This is not to disparage all people going to college.  Certainly, we have hard working students working toward degrees in engineering and the like.  I know some of them, and they are outstanding individuals.  But this idea that your life is over if you don't attend college is just plain stupid.

On a side note, I financed my college education by working at night as a cocktail waitress in high-end hotels.  I made more 30 years ago than the average first year attorney earns in 2012, and I didn't saddle myself with 100K worth of debt in order to do it.

Rick Santorum mentions Satan...

lefty heads explode.

Guess what, boys and girls?  Our very own Teresamerica saw Santorum up close and personal in Steubenville and her hubby recorded the whole thing - and we thank him!    I'll be watching!!

Rick Santorum Rally at Steubenville, OH February 20, 2012

My husband and I attended a Rick Santorum rally yesterday in Steubenville, Ohio. Santorum was on fire! It was a great experience for the both of us.  Kevin recorded the speech along with the question and answer session.  If the videos get too shaky don't blame me, blame the guest blogger, Kevin. LOL!  Overall I think my hubby did a pretty darn good job recording the speech.  Watch the videos

Andrea Mitchell has to catch her breath when Foster Friess suggests she not act like a bunny in heat...

or anyone else for that matter.

Foster Friess is a Super PAC supporter for Rick Santorum.  What did I just say?  Each and every one of these leftie "news" people can't wait to push their "Santorum wants to ban contraception" meme.  They love to claim Santorum is fixated on sex when they're the ones bringing the subject up.

Rick Santorum in Coeur d' Alene...

and he was very, very impressive.

Rick was scheduled for 12 noon.  Good thing I got there at 10:15.  The parking lot was already filling up.

News crew already there.  I think they live streamed it.

The view of Lake Coeur d' Alene from the event center.  The windows cover the entire back wall.

I was thinking we would be outside standing in a line.  Instead, we were all allowed in and snagged our seats.  The middle section was almost completely filled by 10:30.  I had a delightful gentleman and his son sitting next to me so I had someone to kibitz with while we waited.

A little shout out to my seatmate...

Hi Charlie!!

The youngest Santorum fan at the event.

I was seated on the rope-line and when Santorum entered I was able to shake his hand and have a few words with him.

He spoke for about 30 or 40 minutes and spent the next hour or more doing nothing but answering questions.

He allowed about 30 minutes for picture taking and talking to folks.  I gave his daughter my card and asked her to give it to him.  Maybe he'll leave a comment and make me famous.

I'm glad I attended!

I'm off to see Santourm...

hopefully 2 hours lead time will be enough.
Santorum, in pursuit of Idaho's 32 delegates to the Republican National Convention, is scheduled to land at Coeur d'Alene Airport at 9:54 a.m. before heading to a private gathering. Then from noon to 2 p.m. he'll host a public rally at the Hagadone Event Center, 900 Floating Green Drive. The event is free and open to the public; with room for about 500 people, HEC officials have said first come, first served. The pro shop and restaurant at The Resort Golf Course will be closed, and no food or drink will be available at the rally. Later in the day, Santorum will make a campaign stop in Boise.
Hubby expressed concern restrooms wouldn't be available (he's not going, but was nice enough to be worried about moi.)  Ummmmmm, no - I'm sure I'll have access to a restroom.

Santorum takes all three?...

you can color me surprised.

There's some nifty little interactive maps over at NBC Politics.  Scroll down just a bit and click on the state for county by county results.  There's a list or you can mouse over the map.

Anyone want to bet that the first leftie site I visit today will say Santorum wants to ban birth control or take an ugly swipe at his kids?  I didn't think so.

Rick Santorum from Meet the Press debate...

 spot on.

(emphasis mine)

I haven't written a lot of books.  I've written one.  And it was in response to a book written by Hillary Clinton called It Takes A Village.  I didn't agree with that.  I believe it takes a family.  And that's what I wrote.  And I believe that there's one thing that is undermining this country and that is the break down of the American family.  It's undermining our economy.  You see-- the rates of poverty among single parent families, which are-- moms are doing heroic things, but it's harder.

It's five times higher, in the single parent family.  We-- we know there's certain things that work in America.  Brookings Institute came out with a study just a few year-- a couple of years ago that said if you graduate from high school and if you work and if you're a man, if you marry, if you're a woman if you marry before you have children, you have a 2% chance of being in poverty in America.

And to be above the median income, if you do those three things, 77% chance of being above the median income.  Why isn't the president of the United States or why aren't leaders in this country talking about that and trying to formulate, not necessarily federal government policy, but local policy and state policy and community policy to help people do those things that we know work and we know are good for society?  This president doesn't.  In fact he has required programs not to talk about marriage, not to talk about abstinence if-- in order to get federal funds. source

It's Friday...

and my tabs are bulging and so is my schedule.

One of my favorite things about blogging is reading the opinions of others, as long as they are respectfully presented.

Santorum's "Catholicity" seems to be a huge issue.  I really have no idea of why this is so, anymore than Romney's Mormonism should be an issue.

How about a small round-up on Santorum from both sides of the fence.

Today is the feast of the Epiphany (twelfth day of Christmas) and so I'll be busy taking down my Christmas tree.

Homily for Epiphany:
[...]This miracle of presence is very much in evidence in the Christmas gospels. Jesus doesn’t do anything at all; he just arrives. Nevertheless, everything is different; the whole world has changed. We could almost say that the rest of the Scriptures, indeed, the rest of human history is really nothing more than the story of what individuals and groups do in response to this ‘presence in our midst’; a presence which ‘discovers’ us.  read the rest

Is Rick Santorum a "real" Catholic?...

probably.

And that drives the left completely apeshit.

Pundette:   That Catholic thing

Digital Hairshirt:   Wait, didn't Kennedy have this same "problem"?

in case you missed it.

What do you know about Rick Santorum?...

I've quickly figured out the left hates him and that's a good thing.

I admit to having to do some study of Rick Santorum before I could offer an opinion.

Teresamerica has an interesting interview with him on her site.

And Zilla is fairly enamored of him, too.

How About Rick Santorum for President?

Your thoughts?

I'm off to a local zoning meeting.  For those who asked - hubby's heart is pure gold.  It's chugging right along like a good heart is supposed to.  Even the gal who did the echocardiogram was impressed.
