Gonzaga University in Spokane says NO! to Ben Shapiro speaking...

the reason?

Gonzaga University’s vice president of student development, Judi Biggs Garbuio, denied the school’s College Republicans chapter’s request to bring Shapiro to campus, citing protests and safety issues, and arguing that such an event would go against Gonzaga’s mission statement. 

Mr. Shapiro’s appearances routinely draw protests that include extremely divisive and hateful speech and behavior, which is offensive to many people, regardless of their age, politics or beliefs,” Biggs Garbuio said in a response to the event request submitted by Gonzaga College Republicans President Olivia Johnston and obtained by Campus Reform. 

“Gonzaga University is committed to the human dignity of every individual,” the administrator continued. “This is the core of our mission based on the teachings of Christ Jesus, and the foundations of the Society of Jesus. We stand in solidarity with vulnerable members of our community who may be targeted for discrimination, ridicule, or harassment by others.” source

Just exactly who is Gonzaga expecting to protest?  Surely not the lily white "Catholic" students who populate their campus.  And what exactly has Ben Shapiro ever said to go against this mythical mission statement?

Just about everything Ben Shapiro stands for and promotes is what every real Catholic should be supporting and promoting.  Funny that it takes a Jew to be more Catholic than a Catholic university.

They might want to think about standing in solidarity with Jewish Ben Shapiro. What about his human dignity?

Their mission statement didn't stop them from hiring screaming commie harridan Melissa Click of Mizzou fame and renewing her contract for another year.

Back in 2011 I was already quite aware of Gonzaga being a hot bed of emerging marxist thought by it's happy clappy Jesuits.

Marxism and the Churches...

Gonzaga is a private university and can ban whomever they want.  I get that.  But they shouldn't be hiding behind their "Christian mission" when they fail to teach the fundamentals of the Catholic faith.

I can guarantee by the time Gonzaga gets finished indoctrinating a bunch of ill-formed Catholic youth they will be card carrying marxists supporting every baby killing diversity driving democrat slug of a politician.

So our local team, Gonzaga (Spokane), is playing for the NCAA championship tonight.  I'd be more interested in the possibility of Gonzaga  actually teaching the Catholic faith.

Elisabeth Mermann-Jozwiak, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Gonzaga made this statement:

“Dr. Click was hired through an extensive national search process that revealed her to be the most qualified and experienced candidate for the position,” the statement obtained by the newspaper read. “Dr. Click has excellent recommendations for both her teaching and scholarship, which includes an extensive record of publication. We are confident she has learned much from her experiences at the University of Missouri and believe she will uphold the rigorous standards of academic excellence demanded of Gonzaga faculty and students.”

After an extensive search for the "most qualified" they managed to find  a screeching SJW who, as witnessed by her behavior at Mizzou, should never step foot on any campus?

Don't make me laugh.

I personally know a law professor who, after many years of teaching at Gonzaga, did not have his contract renewed this year.  Why?  I have no idea.  This man has one of the most brilliant minds I've ever had the pleasure of encountering and was a beloved and dedicated teacher.

This isn't the first time I've had to write about Gonzaga, a hot bed of SJW Jesuits who are a danger to the faith of young Catholics. 

Way to go Gonzaga.  You're now the target of national and international news and almost 100% of the reaction is not good:

You've even managed to make Instapundit.  Congrats for making yourselves the laughing stock of the world. Why should anyone pay in excess of 55K per year (yes, you read that correctly) and be presented with such a unqualified person as a teacher?

A recent article posted at the Blaze,  Have Alinsky Political Operatives Infiltrated Cleveland’s Christian, Jewish & Muslim Faith Communities? was posted a day before the newest Vortex with Michael Voris was put online. (posted below)  Michael examines an article published in the Gonzaga University newspaper which is rife with misrepresentations of the Catholic faith. Most disturbing are some of the statements made by Fr. Craig Hightower, S.J., director of University Ministry at Gonzaga, concerning what the church teaches about homosexuality.

"First and foremost, [the Church] doesn't say anything in particular about homosexuality, per se. It does say that we are created in God's image, male and female created in God's image," Hightower said.

I'm hoping Fr. Hightower was misquoted or that this quote was incomplete because otherwise I would have to accuse him of lying - something that makes me most uncomfortable. He might try picking up a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church for starters. 

The article mainly focuses on Tyler Hobbs, Gonzaga Student Body President for the 2011-2012 school year, who is also gay.  I'm not sure what being gay has got to do with being student body president, or anything for that matter.

Hightower acknowledged that certain perceptions of homosexuality in the Catholic Church do exist.

"Homosexuality is not condemned in any way, shape or form," Hightower said.
 "What I'm interested in is the theology of the body and the theology of justice," Hightower said. "How do we help the person be more fully human as they are created in that divine image."

What sort of goobly gook statement is that?  Homosexuals are called to chastity - end of story. Fully human? I have no idea of what that means.  Are we to presume that somehow Tyler is "less than human?"

This all caught my attention because I am no stranger to Gonzaga; it's close to my home, I've taken classes there, and occasionally attend the Sunday evening Mass at their beautiful church.

This opinion doesn't make me very popular with most of the "Catholic" sites or with most Catholics, who rarely ever read my blog anymore.  The above opinion ensures that not only will the loony left brand you a "crazy", but also your fellow Catholics. Such is life.

I'm focusing on the Catholic Church here because I'm Catholic.  I don't speak for Protestants or Jews because it's not my place to do so.  You'll all have to speak for yourselves.  I do believe, however, as stated above, that this is something that has invaded all our churches. 

No one seems to mind talking about the fact that Marxism that has invaded our educational system, all nicely cloaked in political correctness, tolerance, and diversity.  Yet these same people will quake with indignation at the suggestion that possibly some priests and bishops display characteristics that are clearly Marxist.  But, but they say, "The Church is protected.  The gates of hell shall not prevail."  That's true.  That doesn't change the fact that we could have some people in the Church that are espousing ideals that are well - not so ideal.

All of us hold our faith dear to our hearts.  It defines who we are.  Attack a bishop or a priest and you attack the Church.  Attack the Church and you attack them.  Their answer is to resort to ad hominem attacks, ban you from their sites, and dismiss you as a malcontent.  What better way to infiltrate the minds of people than through the institutions where they should feel the safest.

Mr. Voris has been the recipient of the most vile of attacks for speaking the truth, the worst of the lot coming from what I like to call "high-end" Catholic bloggers. 

Take a moment and watch this video while thinking about the church you attend.  Is it "gay-friendly" (whatever the heck that means),  have lots of greenie-weenie programs, and preach about diversity and tolerance?  Then do some Google searches on your church and Marxism.  You may be surprised.
