Singing louder is not the solution - and an important video... w/Update

 it's time to man up everyone. (emphasis mine)

After a speech, pro-life activist Penny Lea was approached by an old man. Weeping, he told her the following story:

"I lived in Germany during the Nazi holocaust. I considered myself a Christian. I attended church since I was a small boy. We had heard the stories of what was happening to the Jews, but like most people today in this country, we tried to distance ourselves from the reality of what was really taking place. What could anyone do to stop it?

A railroad track ran behind our small church, and each Sunday morning we would hear the whistle from a distance and then the clacking of the wheels moving over the track. We became disturbed when one Sunday we noticed cries coming from the train as it passed by. We grimly realized that the train was carrying Jews. They were like cattle in those cars!

Week after week that train whistle would blow. We would dread to hear the sound of those old wheels because we knew that the Jews would begin to cry out to us as they passed our church. It was so terribly disturbing! We could do nothing to help these poor miserable people, yet their screams tormented us. We knew exactly at what time that whistle would blow, and we decided the only way to keep from being so disturbed by the cries was to start singing our hymns. By the time that train came rumbling past the church yard, we were singing at the top of our voices. If some of the screams reached our ears, we'd just sing a little louder until we could hear them no more. Years have passed and no one talks about it much anymore, but I still hear that train whistle in my sleep. I can still hear them crying out for help. God forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians, yet did nothing to intervene."

If you are a person who is going along to get along, you need to stop now because it's all about character.

People with good character exhibit integrity, honesty, courage, and fortitude.  

Ask yourself if someone with good character would stand by silently while people lose their businesses or their livelihood. Ask yourself if accepting putting your elders into solitary confinement - separated from their family and often dying alone, is showing good character.   Hundreds of millions of people world-wide are being thrown into poverty that may last the rest of their lives.  How many homeless will be added to the rolls?  

Teenagers contemplating suicide is at an all time high.  Do you care? You've sent your children to schools requiring little kids to wear masks, and sit in isolation from each other without a qualm. You sat back in silence as a family was thrown off a plane because their two year old wouldn't wear a mask.  You didn't intervene when a family was thrown out of a movie theater by the police because their disabled non-verbal child couldn't wear a mask.  

I know a lie when I see one, and when I go out and see the sheep wandering around with a filthy rag tied on their faces, and claiming it's because they care about others, it's a lie. It's because they're fearful, useful idiots, who have the character of a squid.

We've stood back and allowed the government to close all the small businesses, while Walmart and Costco parking lots remain packed, and Amazon is making record profits.  And yet, at least 145 employees at a Union Gap, Washington Costco have tested positive for COVID-19.  How's that draconian mask policy working out for you, Costco?  Oh, wait - they didn't mention whether any of those people are actually sick. They just tested positive. And the store remains open for business as usual. Hmmmm.

You've hidden at home while your "Christian" pastors have closed churches to the faithful - and that includes all "Catholic" priests and bishops who have stumped for Biden and the "Great Reset".  

At least the people of Argentina are happy, as they celebrate the legalization of abortion.   If you want a glimpse of the pits of hell, hop over and watch the writhing squirming squids cheering people celebrating being able to kill their babies.   Dante - eat your heart out!

You think this is over?  Au contraire, my little poodles. It's just getting started, and if you don't develop some real character, we, as a country, are doomed. 

The people of character have been ridiculed, called selfish, shunned, and even arrested.  We've refused to back down or give in. It hasn't always been easy, but it's not really been hard either. 

I would like to give you something positive and cheerful for today when we welcome in the new year. But that would be a lie. 

Tell me what you think may happen, if on January 2nd all the businesses decided they've had enough and opened?  What would happen if the churches on the first Sunday of 2021 opened their doors to the faithful? What would happen if you refused to wear a mask of submission?  I'll tell you what would happen. Nothing!  Except we'd be back on the trail of freedom. 

Perhaps your best resolution for 2021 is to choose a side. Either you're going to be a person of the light and on the side of truth, or you're going to choose darkness and possibly hell.

Choose to be a person of light today. This starts with being in light in prayer, but requires we go out and share that light with others.

The time to "sing louder" is over.

Update:

I'm aware the majority of my readers are in agreement with my sentiments.  However, I am also aware that many of you have relatives and friends who disagree.  One way you can do your part is to share this post - or any other post that has the same message.  Let them know how you feel.  Will some of them shun you in the future? Probably. I'd rather be shunned and be a person of good character standing up for what's right then appease those who wish us harm.  It's time to come out of the shadows.

Is America skittering toward the great abyss?

This started out as a deeply depressing Sunday, courtesy of an article in the American Thinker (that Cicero of Washington Rebel likes,) by David Deming - America is Gone.  To sum it up, Mr. Deming sees our American way of life irrevocably gone and envisions a bleak and unhappy future.

"There is a whiff of anarchy in the air this morning. As I sit here writing, a conservative victory in the midterm elections looms. But I find no reason to be optimistic. The midterm elections will solve nothing. The plain fact is that conservatives have lost the battle for America. The country that many of us were born in has ceased to exist. And we have no one to blame but ourselves. Nothing can or will change until we come to terms with the grim reality of moral degeneration. And I have no hope that this can happen, save by some terrible trial." entire article

The sad fact is, Mr. Deming is probably more correct than not.  Most of my readers are whippersnappers who don't remember much before the 1980's or at most, the 70's (which makes it all the more remarkable  you're the conservatives you are.)   Those of us a bit older remember a far different America than the one we live in now.  Was everything better?  No, it never is.  It is human nature to glamorize, romanticize, and gloss over the ugly parts.   However, each generation since the late 1800's has become progressively more morally corrupt.  I believe the only thing Mr. Deming managed to leave out of his article was our willingness to have a discussion over the moral rights of a woman to butcher her child in the womb, or administer a "hot shot" to an ailing senior citizen, let alone actually performing these odious tasks.

Next, I headed over to the Plantation Nation for a quick bit of John Stossel interviewing Angelo Codevilla, author of The Ruling Class, and Matt Welch, editor-in-chief of Reason Magazine, about the coming elections.  Mr. Stossel believes, as does The Plantation Nation, that it will be "business as usual" after the elections.  And, in their own way, so do Mr. Codevilla and Mr. Welch. Again, I tend to agree.



Already we hear prominent Republicans talking about "working with" or "compromising" with the Democrats, which is exactly what the majority of the American citizens oppose.  True conservatives don't want to have the growth of Government "slowed"; they want the Federal government to be divested of the myriad of departments, czars, and unconstitutional activities it has co-opted over many decades.  Two major places they can start is with the bankrupt Medicare system, which is nothing more than a coercive form of welfare most seniors are forced into, and the reform and privatization of Social Security.  Once done, they can move on to defund the hundreds and hundreds of departments that have been formed unconstitutionally.

In "The Tea Party vs The Ruling Class" by Robert James Bidinotto, we see our first ray of hope on this Sunday morning.  Mr. Bidinotto elaborates on what Mr. Codevilla has to say about the "ruling class," while recognizing the Tea Party movement as a rising up of a conservative movement that will continue the good fight after the election.

 So which camp is right; the glass-half-empty folks, or those who like viewing their glasses half-full?  Are we doomed, or will the country battle its way back to the vision of our founders?  Most days I think the possibility of pulling this country out of the sink-hole isn't very good.  Other days I have great hope, a theological virtue of, well, great hope - that we will return to the intentions of our founding fathers.  When Mr. Deming says he sees no hope (a sin against hope), save by some terrible trial, he has stated a historical truth.  It will take a profoundly disturbing, even ugly event, to make some people turn their hearts and minds back to our Creator and to the "truth that will set us free."

Choose Freedom or Be Part of the Nanny State

Across the middle of the pages of my homemade organizer, I have the words, "I Decide, I Choose, I Will." It is a prompt to change my thinking and help curb my propensity toward procrastination. It reminds me that I am free to choose what I do, or don't do. It makes much more sense than the tape loop most of us have running in our heads saying, "I must or I should."

Due to government intervention in my life, however, much of the time I can't decide or choose what I want to do. The government, both state and federal, has over the years encroached to an alarming degree in our decision making. This has happened incrementally so the average person, busy earning a living or just living life, has gone along with the mandates handed down from our government bureaucrats.

In a civilized society we are in need of rules and I'm certainly not suggesting we throw out all laws and constraints. But having the government controlling every aspect of my life is not how I "choose" to live.

Obama's push for the ultimate control through his "healthcare reform" has triggered a backlash I doubt the folks on the left were expecting. The people of this country are resisting, not just because they know government-run healthcare won't work, but mainly because they see their liberties being eroded. Marxists and self-proclaimed communists of the most corrupt White House ever, have woefully underestimated the level of tyranny and oppression the American people would tolerate.

Dr. Sanity has a wonderful article "Choices" posted today. In it she says:

The Founders understood very well that "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" require that government be kept small and limited in its scope, otherwise it will inevitably encroach on these natural rights that define the American character. If individuals do not take personal responsibility for their own life; if government is allowed to make most of the important choices for you, then you have either voluntarily and willingly relinquished your natural rights; or they have been taken from you against your will.

In either case, you will eventually realize that you are living under a tyranny--perhaps a soft, comfortable and infantalizing tyranny--but a tyranny nonetheless.

This choice--voluntarily relinquishing the natural right to your own life; your liberty; and the pursuit of your own happiness; versus standing against tyranny (even soft tyranny done "for your own good") defines the American character.
