For Goodness Sake...

Up at my usual summer time (about 5 am), just so I can spend over TWO HOURS getting my computer to run without that awful grinding and constant message of "not responding."  There went all my allotted time for being pithy and wise.

It is now almost 9:45 am which puts me almost three hours behind on my day.  I shall return later - the garden calls.

Wake Me When It's Over...

I was pleased to note many links to this fine article by Robert Samuelson, The Welfare State's Death Spiral.   Frank Ross, over at Big Journalism, picked up on the article and provided some important charts on welfare.   Ruby Slippers gets it. 

While plenty of people see the present government as unsustainable, way too many folks think it can be fixed with an election.  The best we can hope for is a few years to prepare for what is inevitable.

Now for some really important stuff:

My friend Sarah, over at My Wonderful Life, could use some votes in the Most Under-Appreciated Blog.  Sarah and her hubby Subvet, are parents of three beautiful special needs children.  It's beautiful to witness the joy these children bring to their parents.

People are starting to wake up ...

While cruising around the news sites and blogs, I've noticed a gradual awakening to the true state of our country and the world.  While there is plenty of blah-blah about Elena Kagan (and who she prefers to sleep with), more and more folks are asking questions that strike at a deeper understanding of the world we live in.  Guess what folks - it's the same world humans have been living in ever since the Garden of Eden, and we know what happened there, don't we?

Listen to Fuzzy Logic, whose logic really isn't fuzzy, as she asks the questions about Obama's most recent stirring up of racial unrest:

"And perhaps most importantly, what is his real goal in stirring up racial and social unrest?  Surely it's not just for votes as so many are arguing.  That may play a part in it, but it can't be the whole reason.  What is he up to?  Why does he want the people of the country he leads at each others' throats, on the brink of violence?  What does he stand to gain?  These are the questions I keep turning over in my head, but I don't have an answer yet."  

Matthew Vadum is asking why we're bailing out socialist Greece. 

Why is the United States involved in a futile scheme to bail out the basket case economy of Greece, which despite its membership in the European Union, is a borderline third world socialist country?

Even Ed Morrisey over at Hot Air asks:

Could the instability in the EU with the failure of Greece spread to the US?

and offers an answer from Paul Ryan.

Here, let’s simply discuss the ostensibly equitable posture that tax increases and spending restraint should occupy similar places on the negotiating table. At first glance, this would seem to establish a reasonable symmetry between negotiating positions.
But that picture would be very wrong. The merest glance at the numbers reveals a very different reality. First, let’s look at the long-term budget picture under current law as seen by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO).

  Over the next week or two, I'll explore my reasons for believing that our country as we know it, is going to crash.  It is inevitable.  The sooner we get there the sooner we can commence rebuilding.  There will be a "new world order", but not the one the puppet masters have in mind. 

There will be massive change.  To think that the elections later this year and in 2012 will change anything is to require willful suspension of disbelief.  The inevitable is this:  It matters not who is in office except to determine the forward speed of our demise.  Am I being pessimistic?  Not at all.  I'm being realistic.  Step back from the chattering and constant distractions and start looking at the big picture.  Start asking your own questions. 

Your Major Distraction for the Day 

is not the illegal immigrants, Elena Kagan, Obama playing golf while oil is seeping onto our shores, kids wearing flag T-shirts, or crazy Muslims with bombs.  No siree Bob.  This distracition is the only one that counts.

After being creamed in the Cannonball Awards, Archangel's Pulpit made us losers a wonderful trophy. It's the Whatever Award for whatever you want it to be for. And what makes this award sooooooo very special is - IT SPINS!! Well, it spins over at AA's place but I can't make mine spin. Is there a message here?

AA is related to The Digital Hairshirt, who received a brand new camera for her birthday (that cost more than my house), and now we are treated to some really magnificent photography. Oh yes, did I mention that Digi won Best Batshit Crazy Blog? Her trophy doesn't spin either. ha


Digi also filled us in on Megan Fox, that mental giant of the Hollywood variety:

More on Credit Cards

After reading this msm media news article, it once again proves that our current President really doesn't have your best interests in his agenda.

I agree that credit card companies can be rather deceptive when it comes to some of their practices. For instance, did you know that you could pay late on your MasterCard and many of your other cards could also raise their rates? Of course not. It's buried in the fine print.

Many unsuspecting people are issued numerous credit cards which they have no intention of paying in full at the end of the month. However, most of these people should not have been issued credit cards at all. Soon they are caught in a trap that is almost impossible to extricate themselves from.

But listen up here, folks. The real root of this problem is this; We shouldn't be using credit cards at all. Then the fine print doesn't matter. We have, over the years, been scammed and led away from values that we should hold dear to our hearts. Number one is, "if you can't afford it, don't buy it." Number two could easily be, "recreational shopping is stupid and only stupid people engage in such mindless activity."

Here's a news flash that everyone needs to read but the msm won't report. You don't need the newest espresso machine, the biggest hot tub, or even that new set of 750 thread count bed sheets. Skip the fancy vacation just because you think you've "earned it" by working hard all year. The only thing any of us deserve is what we can afford to pay for.

In this particular article it says, "There is no time for delay," Obama said. "We need a durable and successful flow of credit in our economy, but we can't tolerate profits that depend upon misleading working families."

Working families have been misled for years. They have been made to believe that it's "necessary" for junior to have a $300.00 phone, and princess "deserves" a brand new car when she turns 16. We, as a nation, are overextended in our choice of houses, the cars we drive, the clothes we wear, and even the food we eat.

Debt is a burden that can separate you from living your life the way God intended you to live. Debt shackles you with the burden of worry and stress. And the debt also shackles you to all the things you have stuffed in your already over-stuffed life leaving no room for God. There is a reason monks live without "stuff."

So, you know what? Let our current President, who claims to have your best interests at heart, get his stupid bill passed. If you're in debt, take steps right now to unburden yourself. If you have credit cards - cut them up!!

We first start hearing that term from Abraham Maslow in his hierarchy of needs , and it has been co-opted by the new age movement to have many different meanings. The Future

A Plan of Action

*****So often the very things that hubby and I discuss at the dinner table show up in well-written essays the following day. We joke that there must be hidden microphones in our chandelier.

*****The fact is, many, many people are worried about these things, and the same discussions are happening across our nation, and probably around the world.

*****It is easy to feel the effects of the constant stream of nonsense and outright lies rammed down our throats by the MSM. Soon, we all start to think we are alone, and may even be a bit crazy ourselves. We flounder around looking for answers, not realizing we are the answer.

*****We wonder why the Republicans are letting opportunity after opportunity pass by without doing or saying anything. Why won't they stand up and blast our current President and his misbegotten policies? I wish I had the answer to that question, but I don't.

*****What I do know is that we must stand and fight. To crawl into a shell of defeatism will never be a part of the answer. If the Republicans in high positions will not do their job, we must continue to do it for them. We must continue to believe that we matter, no matter how many times a day the powers-that-be tell us otherwise.

*****Yesterday our current President denigrated and dismissed over half the population of this country. Never have I seen a sitting President do this. It may have happened, but if it did, I missed it.

*****Part of my plan is to pass on news and articles that I think are important. Not everyone has the luxury of time I have to ferret out, what is in my opinion, the worthy and important. We are being bombarded with a constant stream of information; some of it important, but most of it just snarky criticisms and cheap laughs that do not advance our cause. Let's concentrate first on the solutions so that we can laugh last and best.

*****I will not stand by while our current President destroys this country and insults us in the process, and I hope you won't either. We are all being called to be prophets - ones who speak the truth. Speak up often and without fail for what is right and true.

Google Reader vs Followers

Someone help me out here. What is the difference between adding someone to your Google Reader or "following" them? Other than the obvious boost to the bloggers's ego by having lots of followers, I was wondering if there were other advantages that I may be missing?

Not that the ego thing is small potatoes. I admit to feeling pangs of jealousy when I see my friend's list of followers soar past my measly little number.

Therese over at Aussie Coffee Shop has 80 and Adoro has 82. Not that these fine ladies don't deserve to have lots and lots of followers - they do. Oh yes, Adoro is on a troll hunt. I would have offered to loan her my troll but now she has one all her very own.

I would expect someone like Father Longenecker (145) and Father Powell (117) to have lots of followers. And we won't even get started on the big guys like The Other McCain ,who get five to ten thousand hits a day.

So the question is: Should I use my usual tactics of whining while sitting in a corner twirling my hair (I learned how to do that from Angela, bless her heart!) to obtain more followers, or should I save the histrionics for the the annual Cannonball Catholic Blog Awards?


Meantime our current President, using the EPA as a smoke-screen is, sticking it to the Navajo Nation. (who, if I'm not mistaken voted overwhelmingly for Obambi). I'm not a big fan of this whole Indian reservation thingy, which is primarily responsible for the lousy life of most Indians.

Don't get me wrong - I think ultimately people are to be held responsible for how they live, and the good Lord knows we spot all the minorities ample extra points so they can prosper. However, sticking them on a plot of land and handing them a government check each month is not a way to foster independence and hard work. It's just a form of welfare that harms more than helps.

And tomorrow our current President will fire up those three jets to pop over to Missouri to celebrate his 100 days of destruction. Hundreds of thousands of dollars will be used like the Monopoly money it is fast becoming.

Piggy Flu

Want to know one of the filthiest things you can handle? Sure you do! It's the handle on the shopping cart at your favorite grocery store. I cringe every time I see some little kid sitting in the seat gnawing on the handle. Ugh!

If you have little ones cover the handle with a plastic bag from the store or use a anti-bacterial wipe to clean it off. And don't eat samples without using a anti-bacterial solution on your hands first.

Information Overload

*****My mind has hit the wall again. The info (most of it not good) , just keeps up it's relentless pace. At a certain point my ADD brain explodes and I must take a small break. With many things squirreling around in my head, a short period is needed to sort it all out and present my thoughts when they may (hopefully) attain a semblance of order.

****In the meantime, here is some very good reading that I have run across. Father Longenecker's post on modernism, "The Resurrection and Theological Sleight of Hand", is excellent.

****Stacy McCain, who heads up the wonderful blog "The Other McCain", has one of the best posts on marriage and birth control I have read in ages. There is a lot to read and digest, so take your time and do this piece of fine writing the justice it deserves

Voting continues over at The Crescat. I am nominated in just about every category because I nominated myself. It appears that Thom at Ad Dominum and I are having a bit of a "vote war" for Best Blog by a Charismatic Catholic. I like Thom. I think Thom is a really great guy. HOWEVER, Thom is 24 years old. There is nothing really wrong with being 24 years old - nothing at all. And I'm not jealous because he has a beautiful new header on his blog. No siree, Bob! Not jealous at all.

He has private students, teaches at North Idaho College, and runs a grant program called New Horizons at Holy Names Music Academy in Spokane, WA.

The days of watching TV while stuffing thousands of envelopes for mass mailings are long gone. I even remember how happy we were when the printing companies became equipped to actually fold the flyers cutting down on our workload. Adopt a Bowl Person

It’s never too late to adopt a bowl person. Just received a new batch of funeral cards from eBay, so my bowl is bursting with folks to pray for. Remember, these folks will pray for you, too. Just email me and let me know you’re interested in adopting a bowl person, and if you want the actual card, just include your address. Now that I’ve blown my cover by advertising for my husband, you can verify that I am not a crazy stalker chick. Well, ok Terry, crazy but not dangerous.

If you have sent me your address and have not received your card, please email me and let me know. I had a huge mailing day and it is possible some may have not been mailed out.

Father Longendecker tried to escape to Wordpress, which in my mind is like swimming backwards over the Tiber. What was he thinking? Not to worry. He came back with his head hanging low. He does have a fabulous new header that Mac over at Mulier Fortis thinks is a rather pukey green. Go over and cast your vote for the color. I think it looks pretty nice.

Update: I knew it - I just knew it! The last sentence was poorly worded and I should have changed it before posting. Mac doesn't like the pukey green background color. She's A-ok with the header. I wouldn't paint my bedroom that color, Mac, but I do think the background is easy on the eyes.
