Thousands of people are attending beach concerts put on by BP while oil continues to gush into the Gulf and thousands of oil workers are out of work. Bread and circuses for the small people.
BP May Fund More Free Beach Concerts to Help Alabama
Gulf Shores, Ala. (AP) - A series of free beach concerts may be in the works on the Alabama coast, courtesy of BP.
A free Jimmy Buffett concert Sunday drew thousands to the beach in Gulf Shores.
Officials say they hope to line up a string of big-name performers through the fall with funding from BP, whose oil spill has hurt tourism on the Gulf of Mexico coast. more
I hope the Obamas enjoy their mini-vacation in Maine...

but have plenty to say about Hayward's yachting expedition. Did you expect anything else?
I'll have to take the word of someone who actually watched each of these programs. In our household a hot acid bath would be preferable to watching a bunch of pompous elitist types put on their dog and pony show .

What Some Folks are Thinking in Idaho - Oil Spill a Plan?
What I learned while out and about:
While running errands yesterday, I spoke to quite a number of people, mainly because I will talk to a fence post. Admittedly, North Idaho is a very conservative area, but I was still taken slightly aback by the number of ordinary people who expressed the suspicion that something wasn't quite right about the whole oil spill thingy. It does seem rather convenient.
The library has 8 holds on Hayek's Road to Serfdom. I have my own copy and was simply discussing what was on the top of the Amazon lists with the head of the library. I said it was sad that many people would have to wait 8 months or longer to read the book.
"No they won't," she said. "I'm ordering a few more copies along with more copies of Glenn Beck's Overton Window and Nelson DeMille's new book Lion. Thanks for bringing this to my attention."
I love the way we do things in North Idaho.

The Scam Artists are Hard at Work
From the Heritage Foundation:
An Offer BP Couldn’t Refuse
read the entire article[...]Yes, BP did get the White House to say they do not want to see BP driven into bankruptcy. But who does that promise really serve? Clinton administration Deputy Attorney General turned BP lawyer Jamie Gorelick explains: “We know what it looks like when a company is driven into bankruptcy. The claims that come first are the creditors, then the employees, then the environmental claims, and then the likes of shrimpers. This would not be a good result for anyone.” Now look at how the deal between the White House and BP is structured. BP is not handing over a $20 billion novelty check tomorrow. Instead they are set to pay $3 billion in the third quarter of this year, $2 billion in the fourth, and then $1.25 billion per quarter thereafter. In the meantime, BP has identified $20 billion worth of assets in the United States that the federal government now has a lien on. In the event of a bankruptcy, guess who gets to jump in line and have their claims honored first? Still guessing? Then ask Chrysler’s secured creditors.

20 Billion From BP Controlled by the Government?
What could possibly go wrong?
And would someone tell me exactly how this money is going to be handed out? Does a restaurant claiming lost business get a chunk? How exactly do they prove what was lost? How about the waitresses that were laid off due to lack of business or the worker on the shrimp boat? How much is going to be siphoned off by administration? That last question was purely rhetorical...
This is going to be a gigantic boondoggle of fraud and thievery.

If you smoke, click on the little banner which will take you to the company that has served me well and fairly. We have a local mall company that is charging double for the very same products. I started with the Vapor King double starter pack since both hubby and I smoke.

How's Your Math? Are the Oil Plumes as Big as Reported?
Cruising around the internet today brought me to this article on Alex Jones' InfoWars LOST at Sea: Enormous Exaggeration of Oil Plume Set to Enrich World Bankers by Michael Wayne.
I've never listened to Alex Jones, and to put it mildly, perusing his website is a bit of an "adventure". As for Michael Wayne, the author of the article, I'm unable to find any information about his credentials.
One of the points Mr Wayne brings up in this article concerns the United Nations LOST treaty (Law of the Sea), that went into effect in 1994, and who stands to benefit by the current oil spill. Although the USA signed the treaty, it has not been ratified. Whether this changes some of Mr. Wayne's assertions is best left to someone with a degree in international law.
Mr Wayne claims:
However, the part of the article I found most interesting concerned the report by the National Institute for Undersea Science and Technology about the size of the oil plumes. Mr. Wayne lays out the math proving that the size of the plumes have been either deliberately lied about or someone's math skills at the Institute are not very good.
There is no doubt this oil spill is very serious. From the very beginning, however, the response by the current administration has been bizarre. Ranging from almost completely ignoring what was going on, to finger pointing and blame placing - including former President Bush (?), and still finding time to party down with an aging rock star, Obama has at best appeared to be sleep walking.
The MSM has been complicit with this administration in "never letting a good crisis go to waste." And they have certainly stepped up to the plate on this oil spill. We are greeted daily with agonizingly heartbreaking pictures of suffering wild life while different solutions for containment by the administration are ignored.
I've gone over the figures as presented by Mr. Wayne and they appear to be quite credible. I suggest you take a look and form your own opinion. The question we have to ask is, why? I've been taught to always follow the money trail. Mr. Wayne has followed one possible money trail. Is it the right one?

Mr Wayne claims:
and:It is through LOST that all nations will “lose” their sovereignty to a One World Government. LOST is set to become the funding instrument behind the arising New World Order. This recognition brings our attention to a statement recorded in the Bible’s book of Revelation. In this passage a worldwide governmental system is prophetically pictured as a beast “rising out of the sea.” That was written around 90 A.D. And now, some 1900 years after it was written we see the efforts by international banking elites to finance a one world government by collecting carbon taxes through the regulations of a Law of the Sea Treaty. Their government is arising out of the sea.
I'm not much of a believer in the concept of a "One World Government" simply because when human nature is factored into the equation, you run into real problems. I don't believe it's possible to have a large number of people act in concert to bring about such a form of government. Considered in its broadest terms, however, I do think a "New World Order" is entirely possible and is in fact developing right now. But, as I've said before here and here, it will be vastly different from what the "elites" envision, but not before causing some very real hardships for the people of this country.[...]The environmental cap and trade taxes that are being promoted by the U.N.’s IPCC are taxes on carbon dioxide emissions. The U.N. is pushing for these taxes to be collected by the WB, IMF, and BIS through regulations established under LOST.
However, the part of the article I found most interesting concerned the report by the National Institute for Undersea Science and Technology about the size of the oil plumes. Mr. Wayne lays out the math proving that the size of the plumes have been either deliberately lied about or someone's math skills at the Institute are not very good.
