First stop this am (after spending 10 hours yesterday outside working) is Drudge, where I learn that:
"The Obama Administration “strongly objects” to a proposed amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act on Wednesday that would have protected the religious rights of soldiers – including evangelical Christian service members who are facing growing hostility towards their religion.
The possibility that a service member may have a Bible sitting on his desk is a problem, but openly homosexual members are not a problem?[...]The Obama Administration said the amendment would have a “significant adverse effect on good order, discipline, morale, and mission accomplishment.” read it all
The lead article on Drudge is about federal employees being upset with Obamacare.
Not to worry. Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) have discussed fixes to the provision. Well - that makes me feel much better. Don't want those poor federal employees to suffer. /sarcDozens of lawmakers and aides are so afraid that their health insurance premiums will skyrocket next year thanks to Obamacare that they are thinking about retiring early or just quitting.
The fear: Government-subsidized premiums will disappear at the end of the year under a provision in the health care law that nudges aides and lawmakers onto the government health care exchanges, which could make their benefits exorbitantly expensive. read it all
Next up is CNS News where we find out that due to the government not being in charge of the kidlets from birth through kindergarten by third grade "they might as well drop out." So sayeth the great and mighty Sebelius. This administration wants to spent 75 billion dollars to hand out free babysitting services from birth to five years old, which, they claim, will bring prosperity for all. It's for the children, after all.
Moving on to LifeSiteNews: Sebelius orders health insurers to cover Planned Parenthood in Obamacare exchanges.
Yep. Planned Parenthood is "essential." The largest baby killing business which already soaks up taxpayer dollars even though it makes lots and lots of money, is "essential."According to the Washington Examiner's Paul Bedard, Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, who led the Planned Parenthood cheering section as Kansas's governor, is taking her allegiance to new heights with the ObamaCare law. In an April letter to insurers, Sebelius issued a regulation ordering companies to cover Planned Parenthood clinics in their state exchange packages. Planned Parenthood, which she deems as an "essential community provider," is part of the long list of local organizations that insurers are required to partner with. (Others, Bedard says, include lesbian and gay centers, family planning clinics, and "holistic" centers.) read it all
Dave Blount, over at Moonbattery, is telling us that Bureaucrat-Controlled Thermostats are on the Way
and
The Washington Examiner informs us that the HHS spent $36 million on meetings for bureaucrats since 2009. That's 9 million tax-payer dollars for them to get together, pat each other on the back, and declare the takeover of our country is going as planned. Pigs!
Paul Kengor, at American Thinker, sums up what's going on: Liberalism's Willing Executioners
Last, but certainly not least, is what Maggie posted at her Notebook: 1930′s Redux? It's a must read!
While my bacon is cooking, I'm headed out to pick a bowl of fresh strawberries. After planting a few remaining plants in the garden, I'll be heading off to work.
