Archbishop Chaput speaks out about the MSM...

he's not a fan.

Speaking at World Youth Day in Madrid, Archbishop Chaput said, The news outlets CNN, MSNBC, the New York Times, and MSNBC do not “provide trustworthy information about religious faith.”
Chaput told the audience that, “In the United States, our battles over abortion, family life, same-sex ‘marriage,’ and other sensitive issues have led to ferocious public smears and legal threats not only against Catholics, but also against Mormons, evangelicals, and other religious believers.”

“And with relatively few exceptions,” he said, “the mass media tend to cover these disputed issues with a combination of ignorance, laziness, and bias against traditional Christian belief.”
The Archbishop continued: “We make a very serious mistake if we rely on media like the New York Times, Newsweek, CNN, or MSNBC for reliable news about religion. These news media simply don’t provide trustworthy information about religious faith -- and sometimes they can’t provide it, either because of limited resources or because of their own editorial prejudices.”
“These are secular operations focused on making a profit,” he said.  “They have very little sympathy for the Catholic faith, and quite a lot of aggressive skepticism toward any religious community that claims to preach and teach God’s truth.”

Bishop Chaput can bring Catholicism back on its feet in America by gifting the now closed Mary Immaculate Center

http://maryimmaculatecenter.org

to the SSPX that it may be used as its new Seminary.

Errr......I think it was the NY Times and the Boston Globe that finally got our Bishops to meet in Dallas and dramatically act against priest sex abuse of youngsters.
Can anyone name a Catholic press venue that exposed this problem before the secular press did?

Poor Bishop Chaput.

He never learned what a Heretic is at the modernist Seminary he attended.

He thinks all ‘Faiths’ and their 'Ministers' (both men and women ministers), are his equals; Jesus must therefore be one of many great prophets.

A Catholic Bishop should never state “…that claims to preach and teach God’s truth.”… about heretical denominations whose main claim to fame is slamming Holy Mother Church, blaspheming the Virgin Mary, and so on.

He doesn’t even know Freemasons, the sons of Lucifer, have much control over American Catholic Media.

Quite R - I love Archbishop Chaput!

Bill - That's true. Some of the bishops were complicit in cover-up and should have been bounced out of the Church.

However, we've also noticed how the MSM has reported all the sexual improprieties in the Protestant Church and the state-run schools, which, I believe, far outstrip anything a bunch of priests ever did. /sarc

Really?

I agree with the archbishop and admire him. I expect he is also well aware of the inequities and shortcomings within Catholic media as well.

Actually check the parameters on the public school survey. The one I checked had e.g. flirtatious remarks by young male teachers to senior high girls included as abuse
....a very wide parameter that leads to large numbers. Our own numbers did not include remarks but actions only. The most sensible explanation was given me by a non intellectual furniture salesman who said most offenders were old and were from a generation of largely gays who could not come out of the closet in the 1950's to their parents and so they solved the dilemna by becoming priests where they would not have to explain why they were not getting married.....to parents who were hoping they would get married and produce grand children. Makes sense and explains the dropoff in the offenses in the mid 80's as younger generations came to the fore in which generations, there was not the same fear of coming out to parents.
Get those inverse funds Adrienne....I'm up all of the past nine days and this could go on for awhile in a slower way.

Actually Bill - your furniture salesman was correct. This has never, ever been a pedophile problem but, instead, a homosexual problem. PC doesn't allow us to say that and so it remains a pedophile problem.

There is no doubt that many of seminaries were over-run with homosexuals and it continues today to a lesser degree.

Sexual problems of the Protestant church were and are under-reported because they don't have a central authority - hence less money to award to victims.

None of which excuses in even the tiniest of ways the actions of some of the bishops.

Calling my broker tomorrow about the inverse funds thingy...

:-)

Tell your broker I went to all cash except for darting in and out with mwn and sds....until there is a pronounced direction upward....my living is half through the market.

Adrienne
On good up days, I use their opposite etf's....mwj and sso. They go up 3x and 2 times the market on a up day in the market. Mwn and sds go up 3x and 2x the market's downtrend on bad days.

Really.

Read for yourself his remarks and ask yourself "Is that catholic speak?"

If our Bishops are to speak on behalf of Truth, they should not carry along heresy in their comments.

At Ted Kennedy's funeral in example, a Rabbi and Al Gore mentioned the Holy Name; Archbishop Chaput did not.

Political correctness does not a Catholic Bishop make.

A catholic Bishop attends the Supreme Law of Holy Mother Church: the Salvation of Souls.

Priests are soul savers.

The SSPX needs a new Seminary.

The Mary Immaculate Center in Philadelphia is closed.

Used to be a Seminary, four hundred rooms, and is beautiful.

Will this Archbishop gift it to them, or the Buddhists, Yoga Religion, or other Satan devil worshipers?

something has to be done with it. It costs lots of money to sit empty.

Plus, his political correctness is just what the Freemasons in the Philadelphia Archdiocese like.

The fate of American Catholicism hangs in the balance of this popularity Archbishop.

Just to add a little to your "Really?"
