Leaking Faucet and Helen Thomas w/ Update

I had planned on dazzling everyone with something or another, but I have a seriously leaking kitchen faucet.  Picking up a new one at Lowe's tomorrow.  And what exactly does that have to do with Helen Thomas?  Nothing.

I'm not going to be very popular when I say what I have to say about Ms. Thomas.  I've never been a fan of hers and agree that her statement about the Jews leaving Israel is reprehensible.  However, I defend her right to think it and to say it.  There is not one single reporter sitting in that White House briefing room that doesn't hold at least one view that runs contrary to what I consider right or does not represent truth.

Trust me on this; there is at least one, if not many, Catholic bashers in that group of people that call themselves journalists,  plenty of pro-homosexual "marriage" folks,  and dare I say that the bulk of them think ripping a baby from its mother's womb is just peachy keen.  Are we to demand they all resign or be fired?  As much as I like that idea, we know it isn't going to happen in the real world.

We already know that this administration is throwing Israel under the bus.  Heck, O-what's-his-name and his elitist educated-beyond-their-intelligence friends probably need a fleet of buses by now.   And these are the people who need to resign, be impeached or, God willing - be voted out of office.  If we're lucky, a little jail time would be in order for quite a few of them, too.

In the meantime, I really don't give a rip what that old lady said.  You see, she doesn't have to like Jews, because she is an American citizen; we have the right to not like someone or a group of someones.  It's as simple as that.

Update:

The republican Mother has summarized her series in this post and gives links.  She has some great articles - well worth reading.  Plus - she has some great links to books on-line.  I've been wanting to read Gatto's  The Underground History of American Education, which is just one of many great links on her sidebar.
In her words:
I thought it worthwhile to take stock of what I've been writing on so far. I think a lot of these posts will be educational to those who haven't considered how deeply infiltrated the leftists are in our society.

Stacy McCain is celebrating FOUR MILLION hits on his blog. He's also celebrating Allahpundit mentioning him by name.   In his post,   Allahpundit Mentions Me By Name ,Stacy has some good advice to and about trolls.  As per usual, it is an amazing piece of writing.  Both Stacy and his brilliant Baptist side-kick, Smitty (who doesn't suffer from Catholic guilt or Baptist guilt, either) are two of my favorite writers.

There's so much more but it's 11:00 pm and I've been working outside all day and have a busy day tomorrow.

I agree with you that in America, one can say whatever they like and hate whomever they wish to hate. That's freedom of speech, and it is gooooood. Freedom of speech means, however, only that we can say what we like and truly feel without fear of arrest, imprisonment, execution. It does not and should not mean that what someone says is accepted.

I defend to the death Helen Thomas' right to speak freely, no matter how reprehensible her opinion is. However, this does not translate into tacit acceptance of what is said or giving that someone a free pass to remain in the public and spew hatred. Society checks that sort of thing . . . it must. There is a reason that white supremacists (real ones--neo-Nazis, KKK, et al--not those of us called that for being Tea Party patriots) are shamed into slinking around on the fringes of society, and that same reason is exactly why society has a duty to check the sort of speech that Thomas has every legal right to engage in. Not doing so leads to exactly what we are seeing now: rampant and public antisemitism that is a blight on our nation.

Thanks for the link, Ade!

But Helen Thomas... you have a point, but the problem is her profession- you can't have such a radical view and be respected as a journalist.

I'm sure she'd fit right in at Kos tho, lol

Obama almost got his rear end handed to him at the security council which almost did not pass sanctions against iran. The sanctions passed against iran are a joke and have really been watered down.
As for throwing Israel under the bus, this is not the first time. IN Nazi germany the rich jews did almost the same thing. There are enough of powerful jews in USA but they are of name only and care more about mammon than about thier country. They have not chanegd much from their biblical ancestors who wandered in the dessert
