Government Paid Abortion

Many thanks to over at Let's Get It Right for this video. I have made this statement before and I will make it again, "I will not pay for a woman to have an abortion."

And is there someone out there who can tell me why we have the number of abortions we have when contraception in the form of a simple pill has been around for 40 plus years? As a Catholic, I don't believe in birth control by use of contraception. The reasons for this are sound and have proven to be true but we'll leave that for another day.

There are many people in this country that claim to be pro-choice but anti-abortion, a statement that makes no sense I might add, who are not going to like paying for abortions, particularly when it is used as a form of birth control.

I liked that video so much I also posted it on my blog (can I get a "Huckabee in 2012"?)

There's an AP article out there that basically concludes the current health care proposals do indeed call for government funding of elective abortions. That means you and I will have to pay for them

Lee - thanks for posting the video. People need to see it.

Yes - abortion is covered. I will figure how much of my tax dollars go to support abortion and deduct that when I pay taxes.

A point that our priest makes (and I do believe he is 100% correct) is that contraception requires abortion as a back-up method. We haven't made much progress against abortion after all these years, and he feels it's because we, as a culture, have accepted contraception as a norm. It is the root of the problem: abortion is merely the logical fruit. We're trying to kill the dandelions (thought you might like a gardening analogy, Adrienne!)by lopping off the flowers. And maybe that's a cultural battle that's simply been lost for good...at any rate, getting our tax dollars to pay for abortions is just one more step towards making it perfectly normal and inoffensive.
God help us.....

Adrienne, could you please tell me what priest's blog is being referred to at Abbey-Roads?

Off topic, but Thank you for the carpet cleaning suggestions. I'm going to try them. I want to mail you something but I need your address. You can email me at Sarahs(dot)Journey(at)yahoo.com. And, leave me a note on your favourite colour. Thanks!

Austringer - I do an hour long presentation showing the time-line on birth control and how it led to abortion. I include highlights of all the pertinent court cases. Birth control is a scourge but I fear you are correct - it will never go away. Women are the ones who have been most damaged by this but so have men. It's one of the reasons we have so many "girlie-men" (not homosexuals - just wimps) instead of real men.

We are referring to Father Z over at What Does This Prayer Really Say. While he is obviously quite well educated there is something a bit "off" going on there. I have a link on my side bar...but I figure you've been there. Who hasn't?

I cannot believe that the government will cover abortion that is absolutely wrong. Thanks for posting the video too, hopefully more people will realize how wrong this is.

God Bless,

Brendan

Jefferson: "To compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical."

I wonder what he would have said about this?

The line has to be drawn here. Abortion must not be mandated by federal legislation.

....Great work. You've been on fire lately.
