The Day Ahead

****Mega-shopping is on the list for today. This means a stop at at least four different stores in order to wisely spend my money. I'm grateful the stores are close together to save time and gasoline.

****Being thrifty is a Christian virtue and can become quite fun when treated like a game. I fear in the years ahead people who never considered monitoring and moderating their spending will be doing it by necessity rather than choice. Do you really need to go to Starbucks every day? Just sayn'......

And yes, Cathy - bacon is on the list.... Take the time to read Cathy of Alex's wonderful post the Weak That Was

****Until I return here's a video to amuse and horrify you. President Obama's naivete is astonishing.

Obama on JihadTV

| Tue, Jan 27, 2009 at 8:49:25 am PST

*****"Barack Obama’s first interview since his inauguration went to Al Arabiya, the virulently anti-semitic Arab satellite network that regularly broadcasts support for jihad and militant Islam. This is an absolutely horrible precedent, and the implied weakness will surely encourage jihadists worldwide—no matter what Obama thinks he’s “communicating” to them." read more and watch the video

I heard yesterday that Starbucks is laying off even more people. Wow, that's so surprising..not! What do you think is going to be the first thing cut out of a budget when money gets tight? Not like *need* that 5.00 cup of coffee every morning!

I sometimes talk to interns who spend unreasonable amounts of money on take-out coffee -- paid for with student loans! Absolutely crazy.

Obama has NO clue how the Arabs think. Many years ago I dated a guy from Lebanon. Granted, he was a Melkite Catholic, not a Muslim, BUT you couldn't even look at the guy cross-eyed without him taking offense. They think differently than we do in their culture. Lord have mercy, 9/11 was just a warm up...

I'm appalled that the new President's first interview went to an Islamic tv station - not surprised, mind you, but appalled. What the hell does he think he owes THEM?

Didn't I read somewhere that if push came to shove Obama would "side with the Muslims" or did I dream this?

Mother - I know people that go to Starbucks once or even twice per day. That adds up to damn near a down payment on a house by the end of the year.

Mark - so true

Angela - Obama HAS NO IDEA OF WHO HE DEALING WITH!!!!

Ukok - what the heck is a bacon buttie

Laura - kinda insulting to those that voted for him - doncha know?

Packrat - Obama was touting his ties to Islam during the interview. Something that was kept hidden and quiet during the election.

I used to run to several stores to save money, but quite a few moms in the homeschool group have been using www.thegrocerygame.com I didn't really believe it would save me money, but it has. And, I haven't been to Target since Christmas returns. I don't know how you'd do with your ADD clipping coupons, but it could be an interesting study in human behavior :)
