Outside my window...

and from my deck.

Crunchy crystallized snow and fog from the deck.

When I peeked out my office window I saw 21 doves waiting for the sun to burn off the fog.

Outside my window...

we had our first snow today and the birds were hungry.

Hubby had bought me a beautiful fancy bird feeder.  When filling it last week it was dropped and it's been impossible to put it back together.  He replaced it with one of the feeders from the back deck.  Not the fanciest feeder around but the birdies don't care.

There were hundreds of birds feasting all day.  The bird feeder had to refilled twice.

Even the doves showed up for lunch.  At one point there were 16 doves eating seed off the back deck.

Snow without wind is always (sort of) welcome.

Finally caught him...

on film - and it took all morning.

I do believe this critter is a Yellow-shafted Flicker

More views from my window:

Busy day in the bird world.  A gazillion million starlings, numerous finches, sparrows, and the ever amusing quail, who love to hide in plain sight by mixing in with the starlings.   The rest of the time they march in orderly fashion along the fence line.

The March of the Quail...

It's all about perspective...

What I see out my window:

What my kitteh sees out my window:

So far today there's been two quail marches, a gazillion starlings feasting on what I hope is weed seeds, finches eating the tiny little crab apples on the tree directly outside my window, wood peckers eating bugs off my willows, and not one chihuahua siting.  Life is still good.
