It appears the Obamas may be headed down to Colonial Williamsburg this weekend for more than a history lesson. Mrs. Obama, it seems, wants something much more up to date.

According to the Daily Press, which covers southeastern Virginia, the first lady has shopping on the brain. And we’re not talking about the Williamsburg Walmart.
Rather, Mrs. Obama has been quietly investigating from afar the wares at Binns of Williamsburg, an upscale shop for uptown gals who want to look fabulous. read the rest

After a rigorous week of doing almost nothing (I do think he found time to hit the links last weekend), Obama, the first woman, and the two daughters are headed to the historic town of Williamsburg this weekend for some "much needed rest and relaxation", which will no doubt include ice cream, ribs, hamburgers, hot dogs, and whatever the specialty is around those parts.

Inquiring minds have a few questions before they depart.






Will he find time for golf?

Will the first woman get a new travel outfit?

Will the first dog get to go along?

Does Williamsburg have good ice cream?

How about the burgers?

Will the first woman have time to shop?

Will she break her record of sixteen outfits in three days as she did on her Asian trip?

Maggie over at her Notebook (who has just returned from a luxurious vacation where it was warm, beautiful, and interesting - able to engage in lovely activities like eating gourmet food, sinful shopping, and mega-sightseeing - while most of us were languishing in the snow or rain and doing nothing better or more interesting than gazing out our bedroom windows, where we may or may not have had something lovely to gaze upon.  Ooops - sorry,  got carried away there for a moment.  I really, really am glad she had a break from the mundane and do not begrudge her a good time.  Really!)

I'm torn between wanting him gone since he can do less damage while in Rio than DC, and passing some sort of legislation to stop this insane running around the world for no good reason.  


But, wait!  Be still my beating heart.  The St. Paul Pioneer Press, bastion of liberalism, has posted an unflattering story about Obama's time on the links (I believe it's 62 or so since he was sworn in), and his upcoming trip.  It gets better.  There are 85+ comments, mostly from folks in Minneapolis and St. Paul, calling him the doofus he is.  Hope springs eternal...

And in Libya people are being slaughtered in the street while Obama remains silent.  Perhaps he's busy catching up with the first woman after her return from the expensive ski trip. Allow me remind you that while the White House reports that the first woman paid for her "personal" expenses, we the tax payers paid for her plane trip and the accompanying plane with all the cars and whatnot.  Cost?  Several hundred thousand.  Glad they've got "some skin in the game."  When was your last vacation?

I'm flabbergasted! Jarrett: Obama to spend more time outside of Washington in 2011 ???

How could he possibly spend more time outside of Washington then he already does?

"He said right before he left for vacation was, 'When I get back, I really want to figure out a way where I can spend more time outside of Washington listening, learning and engaging with the American people,'" she added. "We're determined in the new year to make sure that his schedule reflects his priority."

Did you get that first part about the vacation Jarrett, or were you too busy counting your slum rent money courtesy of the corrupt Chicago machine?  Let me help - HE'S ON ANOTHER VACATION!  A very expensive vacation that's costing the taxpayers a ton of money, inconveniencing the citizens of Hawaii, and making sure many more Secret Service agents and other staff miss spending Christmas with their families than is necessary. 

His only priority is to spend taxpayer money to run around and campaign and avoid the actual work of the presidency.  I could have sworn his priority was to improve the joblessness in this country.  No?
