Syria, Gorsuch, and Duke's Mayonnaise...

Syria

I think Trump sent a message to China, North Korea, and all the sand flea countries, that you do not mess with us.

The real question is, "Did Assad mess with us?"  The answer is an unequivocal "sort of."

The way back machine informed us that both Susan Rice and John Kerry boasted that they were able to convince Assad, by way of their superior diplomatic skills,  to rid Syria of chemical weapons.  I guess they misspoke.

I notice no one suggesting that we send missiles to Chicago where, since January 1st of this year, 145 people have been shot and killed - some of them mere children.  

Meantime, a couple of happy little Muslims rammed a truck into a shopping area in Stockholm killing at least 5 people.

Gorsuch

Congratulations to our newest Supreme Court Justice, Neil Gorsuch.  

The libtards are outraged that the Republicans changed the rules to make this happen.  Ah, no - you simpletons, Reid changed the rules and we warned you it would come back to chew a big hunk out of your back side.  Payback is hell!

Duke's Mayonnaise

Back on March 30th, Big Fur Hat over at IOTW Report, raved about Duke's Mayonnaise.  Like him, I'm a mayonnaise snob.  We currently use the Kirkland Signature (Costco) mayo.  It's good enough for me and the price is great.

I'm heard other rave reviews of Duke's and was intrigued enough to try again to find some.  Since it's mainly sold in the southern states, picking up a jar was going to be pretty expensive what with air fare and all.

Off to Amazon.  Two 32 oz jars for only $17.35?  Not happening.

Next up, a wild stab at Walmart.  Well, looky there -  $3.48 for the 32 oz jar and they'll ship it to my local store for free.  Three days later I was tasting Duke's.

Is it good?

Yes.

It's certainly the creamiest mayo I've ever eaten.

 Would I use exclusively?  No.  It's too expensive.  I use sour cream and mayo in my potato salad anyway, so using Duke's might be a waste of money.  I did use half Duke's and half Kirkland in the coleslaw I just made.  It was by far the best coleslaw I've ever conjured up in my kitchen.

Will I keep a jar for sandwiches and such?

Yes.

P.S.  I understand there are brands of mayo out there that use olive oil.  Before purchasing them, I would just mosey off to my kitchen and make my own.

* Of course, we'll have to start with the Super Bowl.  I actually turned on my big TV and watched it.  I did miss the halftime show, but I understand Lady Gaga didn't get all in-your-face political, and may have actually entertained the hoards. Good for her.

Since football is not really on my radar, I had no pigskin in that fight.  I thought it was a fun game.  And really, that's all it is; a game.

The ads were either boring or downright ludicrous and ham-handed.  Equal pay, Audi?  Not to be missed (and I'm sure no one did) were all the pretty little Muslim ladies wrapped up in their designer scarves sucking up modeling jobs that were formerly held by blacks.  Yawn.

On the upside President Trump called the game and Tom Brady is a Trump fan, so the #nevertrumpers are all #notmysuperbowlwinner.  They never fail to delight.

*  Huffington Post actually admitted Trump was right about something?  Why, yes they did.  Trump Is Right: Silicon Valley Is Using H-1B Visas To Pay Low Wages To Immigrants  Of course it was buried on some back page, but better than nothing.

* It's been reported that Judge Neil Gorsuch banned laptops in his classes.  That makes him way smarter than the average bear, but we already knew that.  Many studies have proven that note-taking on computers is the worst way to engage in the material being presented.  Sad to say, but many, if not most, schools don't teach cursive anymore, thereby making note taking by hand much more difficult.

I've recently started using the Cornell Method of note taking (yes, even little old ladies take notes.)  I was a bit skeptical of the method, but after employing it for a few months, I'm totally sold and use it for any book that requires deeper study.

*  A bunch of SJW's from my old neighborhood in St.Paul are making noises about high tailing it out to protest the oil line at Standing Rock Reservation, which proves how out of touch libtards are.  The Sioux tribe just managed to get rid of the old bunch of protesters they did not want there in the first place, and these loons are going to trek over to North Dakota to "help."  The only help the Sioux needs is cleaning up the massive mess the last bunch left behind, which is pretty much what libtards always do.  

 *  In other SJW news the ladies who march™ are all elated that some over-priced snob stores are not going to carry some of Ivanka Trump's clothes and accessories.  But, wait - I thought they were all for supporting women.  Isn't Ivanka a woman?  And what exactly did Ivanka ever do to them?  Last I heard, she was spearheading some plan for universal or free (or something) child care (I'm against it).  Isn't that a women's issue?  I'm so confused.

*  Personal update:  I've been so bad at keeping up with my schedule the past few weeks.  My morning pages are not getting done, and my bullet journal is barren.  I think many of us expended so much psychic energy the past year and a half that we now feel like deflated balloons.  Does it feel that way to you?

*  Prayers needed.  Frequent commenters MadJack and Vladimir Solaratovare are both experiencing some very significant health problems.  Please keep them both in your daily prayers.

*  Birds.  Our busy bird feeder has attracted a few new visitors.  We've had quite a bit of snow and for the first time ever the quail (skittish little clowns) have actually come on to the deck to eat spilled bird seed.  They've even walked up to the slider and peeked in the house.  And..........................a lady pheasant braved the deck, too.  I doubt we'll ever see the male pheasant on the deck.  They're all alpha male types and probably tell the ladies to go grab them some seed - the bird version of "make me a sandwich and bring me a beer."

Judge Gorsuch, in his book, The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia, wrote:

“All human beings are intrinsically valuable and the intentional taking of human life by private persons is always wrong.”

Now those are real scary words for a woman who becomes "inconveniently" pregnant just before a long awaited vacation to a paradise island. 

Not only is the pregnancy inconvenient, but the money she spends for an abortion will somewhat curtail her duty-free shopping.  That's why she wants you to pay for the abortion. 

Think I'm exaggerating?  I'm not.

When minds and souls have been darkened by sin, abortion for convenience is commonplace and ranks as the number one reason for abortion.

Sodomy? In their world it's just another way to express love, because nothing says love better than sexual relations with a person of the same sex, which is both unnatural and unhealthy.

Since 1960, when the FDA approved oral contraception, women have been purchasing "the pill."  Suddenly, it has become a rallying call and demand that we pay for them.  Women have decided it's a "right." Never mind that they're cheap and readily available.  By not paying for them, we've somehow "cut off all access" to these spoiled women to have unrestrained sex.

I'm really liking my Amazon Prime.  Just yesterday I decided to replace one of my pruning saws with a new one.  Doing my due diligence I checked Lowe's and then I checked Amazon.  The saw at Amazon was the same price as Lowe's and included free two day shipping.   But wait - if I use my Lowe's card I get 5% off my purchase.  However, I also get 5% cash back with my Amazon card so that's a wash.  I also earn points at Amazon to be used toward other purchases.  Hmmmm - Amazon is pulling ahead in the battle of cost.

But the biggest savings comes from my "how to be frugal" knowledge.  Listen carefully - "if you don't want to spend money, stay out of the darn stores™"   To buy the saw at Lowe's would mean driving to the store (gas), parking, walking in, finding item, and checking out (time), and would very possibly result in purchasing some other item I may or may not need.  Bingo - Amazon Prime wins.
