some things are just too perfect...

The Beatles were the first pop/rock group to implement classical philosophies and instrumentations in their compositions.

Although not the first to deviate from conventional 8-bar increments, Yesterday consisted of occasional 10-bar increments.  Willie Nelson wrote lots of songs with irregular structures, and consequently didn't get recorded until after he wrote Crazy, which was eventually recorded by Patsy Cline.

Incidentally, in 1983, hubby recorded Crazy with the Phoenix Symphony, which was played in heavy rotation on easy listening stations in the entire country.   It was during those recording sessions that he learned the meaning of "tacet."  The Phoenix Symphony has never been the same.  heh... 

The Beatles legitimized irregular structures in pop music, although irregular structures were long part of jazz, such as Dave Brubeck's Take Five in 5/4 time.
