I have passed the point of no return...

and something must be done.  Stat!

With well over 60 tabs open, I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed.  Thing is, I have no time for pithy commentary.  I've decided to put up links and let you draw your own conclusions, which you're more than capable of doing.

But, first - a word about a word:

Entitlement: What does it mean?

I paid into SS and Medicare most of my life, as have millions of other people.  Those of us on Medicare  pay a monthly premium, as well as paying Medicare taxes on our paychecks if we are still working. We were not given a choice in the matter.   And yet SS and Medicare are lumped together as an "entitlement" along with Medicaid, food stamps, and all other welfare programs.

This is a perversion of the word entitlement.  People who have paid into a system are entitled to recover their funds.   No one is "entitled" to welfare or medicaid because they haven't paid for it. Hence, they are not "entitlements".  Medicaid is a welfare program - a government handout.  It is money that is taken from one person, by force of law, to give to another.

I don't think anyone has a problem with helping the truly disabled, or the person who is temporarily down on their luck.  But for millions, welfare in all it's forms, has become a way of life and, in many cases, has spanned generations.

Social security and Medicare were bad ideas from the get-go.  I'm not disputing that at all.  However, millions of people, myself included, were not given a choice in the matter.

So quit allowing the libtards to redefine words in order to play their game of fear mongering.  It is another tactic used by the left to promote more division.

(Wow!  My editor just gave me an A- on commas.)

All things Obamacare:

Alliance Defending Freedom:  Obamacare and it's mandates fact sheet.  This is a .pdf (only 4 pages) and well worth the read.  There's enough linkage to keep you busy for quite some time.

After the ACA: Freeing the market for health care by  John H. Cochrane (pdf) is a bit more involved at 25 pages.
