Let's Stick it to the Police....
This is despicable....
Our current President plans on slashing almost in half a benefits program for the families of slain police and safety officers from $110 million to $60 million, while at the same time plowing $2 billion more into merit-based teacher pay to help failing schools turn around.
So a police officer, who in most cases is woefully underpaid, must now contend with the knowledge that if he dies in the line of duty, his family will suffer. Of course, with our goofy legal system the way it is, he may well end up in jail first for doing what he was hired to do - protect us.
