Pointy Toed Shoe Award

This award is so meeeeeeeeee!!! I love these shoes.

When I lived in Texas we would have called these shoes hot sexy cockroach killers.  The toes fit in the corner of the room assuring that you will squish the roach

This Pointy Toed Shoe
is hearby awarded

Adrienne
on the occasion
of yours truly
needing a
swift kick in the butt
for throwing myself

Adrienne was happy
to strap these puppies on

Thank you, Adrienne!
Everyone needs a friend like you!

Angela's son Luke just arrived in Afghanistan yesterday to begin serving his country. Please pray for him and all the other young men who are willing to risk their lives so that people may be free.

An Award Missed is Not an Award Gone, or something

Well, now I'm embarrassed. Lovely Bella from La Bella Vita, a fellow Italian, awarded me this from one of her other blogs, Our Beautiful Catholic faith.

My only excuse (I'm digging deep here for justification) is I am always so busy copying her wonderful recipes on La Bella, I sometimes miss her other posts.

Roz, also known as Bella, has posted her picture on La Bella Vita and we could be sisters. I, of course, hold the title of older and wiser, while Roz would be the younger and prettier. We'll have to draw straws for best cook.

Take a moment to stop over and say congrats on her blogoversary today...

Rules:

1. Copy the picture above and post it on your blog.
2. Pass it on to who you think who is/are deserving.
3. Leave a message to them.
4. Pass as many as you want.
5. Message back or leave a comment to the owner.

No doubt the first person I will award this to is:

  1. Mighty Mom, known to her hubby Subvet as the War Department (for good reason)
  2. One of my newer friends, MaryEllen over at Bad Habit, who is delightfully unhinged (but very, very smart.)
  3. Belinda of Belinda's Brain, who, as I've said before, not only thinks outside the box, but doesn't even have a box.
  4. Laura at One Woman's Thoughts, who is seriously contemplating acquiring a sewing machine. I suggested a glass of wine and a nap until the urge passed.
  5. Angela Messenger, who will fling herself to the floor and rend her clothes if she doesn't get any and all awards.
  6. Adoro, who shares her life...
Now you may have noticed there is not one man on that list. Sometimes guys don't like getting these cutesy little awards. But if they did, I would give this to:

  1. Matthew and Patrick Archbold at Creative Minority Report
  2. LarryD at Acts of Apostasy
  3. Terry at Abbey Roads
  4. Mark in Spokane
  5. RightKlik
  6. Stacy McCain and the man behind his greatness, Smitty
  7. Father Anthony Ho
  8. Father Dwight Longenecker
Right now I must take a wee break before coming back to notify the awardees...

A whole bunch of wonderful peeps gave me this award.

Allow me to mention each one and tell you a bit about them (from my perspective)

I'll start with Lola over at What Lola Wants and Some Unsolicited Advice, 'cause she's a girl and that seems like the right thing to do. Lola runs a first class blog with an even mix of spiritual and secular. This lady is a one first rate classy dame and I always look forward to visiting her.

Joe over at Verbum Veritatis, who is considering the priesthood, has been a favorite of mine ever since I found him. I love his sense of outrage and wish more young people possessed the kind of zeal and passion Joe has. He's heading to Billings, MT (within striking distance of moi), for a retreat and look-see at their seminary. Hey, maybe Mark in Spokane and I can talk him into returning to CA by way of Post Falls and Spokane. That would be soooooooo cool!

Now Subvet over at Blowing San#1, is in a class by himself. Married to the wonderful Mighty Mom, Sub is not one to mince words. Thank God for people like him!

The BlogProf is last but never, ever least. This guy manages to take care of his professor duties, his family, body build, and still manages to post about a gazillion times per day. Every time I have my Google reader down to something manageable, he throws up a whole bunch of posts. I am convinced he never, ever sleeps. Never! And to top it off, I was going to give him this award and he gave it to me first. Arrrrrgh!

One person I can't thank here would be LarryD over at Acts of Apostasy. You see - he DIDN'T GIVE ME THE AWARD!! No siree - he gave it to bunches of other people but not to ME. And really, it's ok that he stiffed me on an award. It's ok that I spent an entire evening in the corner whimpering, sucking my thumb, and twirling my hair. Really! It's just fine. It's a good thing that Larry is one of the funniest people in the whole world other wise I'd be pissed, doncha know. But I'm not. Really!! Honest! I'm a bigger person than that. I don't hold grudges. Forgive (but never, ever forget), is my motto. Forgiveness is key to being a good Catholic. So I'm really, really ok with this. Really!

Here's the deal. I have to thank the peeps who sent it my way. Done!

Then I have to list a bunch of really honest things about myself - 10 to be exact. I'm not sure I can come up with 10 things people don't already know but here goes.

  1. I hate cold water. I'm the one that takes 15 minutes to get in the lake unless someone picks me up and throws me in which happened lots when I was a kid. The idea of a cold shower makes me quake. Ugh!
  2. I don't know how to clean fish. When I was little my Dad was going to show me how to clean fish. My Mom pulled me aside and informed me I did not want to learn how to clean fish. When I asked her why she said, "Because if you learn to clean fish then you'll have to do it." Wise woman!
  3. I love coffee and drink waaaaay too much. Although now they say it can prevent and even maybe reverse Alzheimer's. Hmmmmmm...
  4. I'm ADD and wouldn't have it any other way. I have many strategies to keep me somewhat on track, but some days the squirrel has gone nuts in my head and I become paralyzed into inactivity. I have to tell myself to just get up and do one tiny little thing and sometimes I'll actually write that one tiny little thing down on a tiny piece of paper and carry it around until the task is completed.
  5. I love to read and plow my way through about 5 or more books per week. My idea of a good time is a trip to the library. When I come home I pile all the books up around me on the dining room table like a fortress, pour a cup of coffee, and peruse my new conquests. Fun!
  6. I don't have any children and don't particularly like young kids. I do however like teenagers and they like me back. Scary!!
  7. When I was very little I had a graveyard for every little bird or mouse that expired within reach of my little hands. It ran along the sidewalk next to the garage and was completely landscaped in miniature. Tiny little trees and bushes, walkways, ponds, and lots of crosses. My Mom always said when she took out the garbage she didn't know whether to cross herself or genuflect.
  8. My first car was a 1956 Thunderbird (and no - I didn't buy it new!!!) I paid $1000.00 bucks for it and still have the little cardboard paybook from the bank. My payments were about $74.00 per month for a year. I drove that car for 10 years (it was HOT!), sold it for $12,000.00 and used the proceeds as a downpayment on my first house in Sedona, AZ.
  9. I love anything with carbs and salt.
  10. And..............my name is Adrienne and I'm an alcoholic. This month I will celebrate 19 years of sobriety.
Now I have to pass this award on:
  1. Mark in Spokane gets one
  2. Adoro is next
  3. Cathy of Alex (my bacon buddy)

25 Random Things About Me

Numerous folks on Facebook have tagged me with this little task. I decided to do it here in an effort to kill 25 birds with one stone.

  1. I'm 5'2" tall - which is plenty tall enough. When I was young I got to date the tall guys (6"5" was my tallest) and also the short guys (5'4" was the shortest). What a deal!!
  2. I play Rock drums and have a 10 piece set
  3. I love to paint in oils
  4. I used to teach ballroom dancing
  5. I grew up in St. Paul, MN (and don't miss the weather one little bit)
  6. I love being Catholic
  7. I am an adult with Attention Deficit Disorder - which is really kinda fun (most of the time - sometimes it's the pits)
  8. I'm very mechanical
  9. I don't like country music
  10. I'm Italian (mostly - with a bit of German, English, and French)
  11. I'm a good swimmer
  12. and a good ice-skater (Minnesota, remember? We grew up on skates)
  13. I miss my Mother
  14. I am most peaceful when I am working in my garden
  15. I hate a dirty car
  16. and a messy purse
  17. I spend waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much time on the computer
  18. I don't have any children - and that's ok, except someones going to have to volunteer to care for me in my "older age"
  19. I love to teach the nuts and bolts of the Catholic faith and I take no prisoners. No sugar coating from this lady. It is what it is!
  20. I've been in every state of the union except Alaska
  21. I sell "stuff" on ebay
  22. I can sleep anywhere on command, so to speak. Kept waiting at the doctors office and bored? Train running through the room? Not a problem. Close eyes and sleep - instantly. Drives hubby crazy. It's the hyper-focus part of ADD.
  23. I love pretty paper, fountain pens, old postcards, and old letters
  24. I want to go to Italy
  25. I love having met so many wonderful people by blogging and Facebook
Paul McCartney is performing on the Grammy's right now and his drummer is awesome!!! Wonder who it is??

Awards

Once again I have some awards. I "heart" awards and am always grateful when someone thinks of me.

MightyMom, has a Wonderful Life being married to Subvet, who hangs out at Blowing San#1. Even though Subvet has been seeing me behind MM's back she has allowed me to pick out my own award from her site. Now how's that for being an understanding wife??? Angela must have told her what happened when I didn't get an award. All that crying and grinding of teeth. Not a pretty sight in one my age.

So I picked out the Smile Award (also known by it's other name - the purple award). I chose it in honor of my Mother whose favorite color was purple.

The qualifications to receive the award are:

A. Display a cheerful attitude.
B. Love one another.
C. Make mistakes.
D. Learn from others.
E. Be a positive contributor to the blog world.
F. Love life.
G. Love kids.

And I'm adding Love animals to the list....

The Rules:--I'm breaking all the rules so I don't expect you to follow them either!

I Award this to all my friends that visit me here and on Facebook

What It's Like to Have ADD
(short form)

****One of these days I plan on giving you all an idea of what it's like to be an adult with ADD. One thing I can tell you is the rate I absorb information on a daily basis is probably not the best thing in the world for me. But, dang, it's fun. It's the hyper-focus part of ADD that others sometimes envy that makes this possible. However, sometimes the focus isn't where it should be. Sigh

****My Google Reader is at 306 right now. I have over 250 blogs and news sites on my reader so in that context, 306 isn't too bad. Thank goodness God blessed me with the ability to read really, really fast. To keep me humble, he made commas and the proper placement thereof, all but impossible for me. And trying to remember the difference between then and than? A struggle!

Breakfast at Tiffany's

The opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany's has got to be one of the most haunting in film history, with Audrey Hepburn strolling down a Manhattan street at five o'clock in the morning, glamorously attired, a paper cup of coffee in hand, nibbling a pastry, while pausing to gaze longingly into the window of Tiffany's jewelry store. Never has anyone looked so lost. read more from

Awards

Oh my, I love getting awards. The love is flowing from sources that I hold in high esteem.

MaryRose over at True Confessions of a Prodigal Daughter loves me (even though I poke fun at Twitter). Do. Not. Miss. Her. Spiritual. Journey - posted on her sidebar. It is an exceptional piece of writing and a source of inspiration.

My dear friend Laura who loves me (in spite of who I really am) has started a project with her friend Matt. I've mentioned Deliberate Engagement before and I want to remind you of what a first rate pro-life site it is. Their friend Christine from A Catholic View has joined them as a contributor.

Lola who oversees What Lola Wants and Some Unsolicited Advice, loves me too (she's young and doesn't know any better)

And last, but not ever least, is my friend Philip over at Pellegrinaggio, crossing the Ponte Sisto. (He loves at his own peril, since I have a crush on "his cuteness")

I've passed this award on already in days past, targeting the most politically incorrect, outrageous, but lovable Catholic men bloggers in the blogosphere. So today I'm passing this award on to all my readers who have a blog and have not received this award yet (that would be about 1.5 people)

And to leave you now with a bit of irony. After agreeing to spend what will probably amount to over ONE TRILLION of YOUR MONEY, President Obama and a select few, dined on steak that costs about ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS per pound.

Sunday

*****I think we all need a rest. Every morning I roll out of bed wondering what insane thing our President and his minions have dreamed up. It is depressing and wears me down. I'm thinking it has the same effect on others.

*****So in the spirit of our day of rest (hoping against all hope that Obama is resting too and not creating havoc), I shall send you around the web to visit others, who in most cases are way smarter than I am.

*****One of my most recent discoveries is a wonderful site called The Chicken Coop presided over by Motherhen68. I know this lady is smart because she just gave me an award which I'll get to later. She was also smart enough to pass this award on to Angela, who we know would sit in the corner crying and twirling her hair if she was not included.

*****Motherhen has some wonderful links to low-carb sites and lots of information on saving money - both subjects that are of interest to me.

*****Esther, our favorite Catholic Mom in Hawaii started Prayers for our Pets, a blog dedicated to praying for the special intentions of our pets who may be ill or lost. I abhor cruelty to creatures that God has entrusted to our care.

*****Karen Hall, never one to mince words, has an opinion about the Vatican's reaction to Obama's most recent decision to use our tax dollars to slaughter innocent children in foreign countries. Ok, ok - I know I said we were going to rest today but this is just too good. Take a moment to read Wherein the Shepherd Scolds the Sheep for Not Watching Out for Wolves

And now for my favorite occurrence:

AWARDS

Tracy, our Catholic Mom in Minnesota, has given me the Lovey Award and so has Motherhen68 at The Chicken Coop.

About the award:

“These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”

Not so sure about the charming part, but I'll take any award I can clap my greedy little hands on.

****....and as Grand Poobah of this blog I hereby dispense with the obligation to pass this award on (unless you wish to)

I have decided to award this to all men bloggers. Now how's that for being politically incorrect??

  1. Subvet over at Blowing San #1, who talks tough but has a heart as big as Montana. If I was in a pickle I'd want this guy watching my back.
  2. Philip Blosser, the Pertinacious Papist, is one of those smarty types with an alphabet soup of letters after his name. That's ok - he needs love, too.
  3. Simplex Vir
  4. Confiteor
  5. Vir Speluncae Orthodoxae This is a "three for" as Confiteor and Vir Speluncae Orthodoxae have just joined up with Simplex at American Rumpo, who also hangs out at Lair of the Catholic Caveman. Did you follow that? Not to worry. I have links to all the nooks and crannies. And................................two of these guys are drummers!!! You'll have to visit to find out which two.
  6. To all the men (remember, I'm being politically incorrect today) at the Lair consider yourselves awarded with lots of love. Just recently these guys snuck a women into their midst named Cookie, who resides full time at the Holy Cookie. Drop over and say hi to this bright young lady.
Telling the truth, no matter how painful, is the major thing these men have in common. God bless all of you.

So Much to Think About.....
My friend Kelly has posed an interesting question:

What Does It Take To Be Devout?

You may want to go over and help her out. In my usual shy way, I have posted a comment already.

* * *

Rich Leonardi at Ten Reasons, continues a discussion started on Father Z's blog, which was started Lord knows where, and in how many different places. We know people are leaving the Church and Rich's conclusion is the need for more and better catechesis. As many of you know, I am on the RCIA team of our parish, and until this year, taught 7th through 12th grade religious education classes.

****There is no doubt that the average Catholic is completely ignorant of their faith. There is also, in my opinion, a lack in the liturgy leading one to a fuller understanding of the faith. In an effort to be delicate, as I hate to belittle priests (I save that for Obambi), there is, in most cases, not much good instruction pouring forth from our ambos.

While I agree with Rich, my question is:

*****When does the finger that points to lack of catechesis, indifferent priests, and bad liturgy, get pointed back to the pointer? When do we have to start taking responsibility for our own lack of knowledge? It is disingenuous and insulting to keep saying that Catholics are too weak and ignorant to educate themselves, to find a different church, or pray for the priest they got stuck with.

****Are they really so ignorant that they don't even know they're ignorant? It's one thing to excuse young people because they think they know everything anyway. But by the time someone is in their 30's or 40's, a little light should be going off that perhaps they could avail themselves of some good Catholic books. And do Catholic parents really not understand they are the primary teachers of the faith?

Maybe it's time to answer some of these people with a simple, "you are lacking in that area of your knowledge of the faith. I could recommend some wonderful books for you." Will you win friends and influence people? Gosh, I hope so!

* * *

Obambi's projections for "saving or creating jobs" is up to 4.1 million now. That figure just keeps growing and growing. Just exactly how can you know if you "saved" a job? Isn't that like proving a negative? Just sayin'..............

Mass Annoyance
A Poll......

*****We're supposed to make a profound bow every time we recite the Creed at Mass at the "et incarnatus est" ("by the power of the Holy Spirit . . .became man") except at Christmas and the Annunciation, when we're supposed to genuflect instead. My husband and I, and perhaps one or two other people, are the only ones who do this, even though it is clearly stated in the missalette (say the black, do the red). At Christmas we did not kneel. Do people in your parish bow, and did you kneel at Christmas? Take a moment and click on the poll in the upper left corner.

Tracy over at a Catholic Mom in Minnesota, awarded me the Marie Antoinette Award. I think it means I'm as old as Marie but look really great for my age.

****And while I was busy digesting that piece of good news our very own Therese at Aussie Coffee Shop gave me the same award, albeit with a different picture. Being a Marie Antoinette fan (that thing about eating cake really resonates with me, even though she probably never said it), both awards were welcome and appreciated. Now I must pick out 7 worthy ladies (I don't think this is a good award for a guy), to be blessed with this award.

*

So here is my list:

  • Belinda over at Belinda's Brain because she always makes me smile and loves maps and other strange stuff. This lady not only thinks outside the box, she doesn't even own a box.
  • Agnes over at Dignitatis Mulieribus, because she is a brand new blogger and is a very sweet lady.
  • Laura who has a brand new home at Wordpress
  • Lola at What Lola Wants and Some Unsolicited Advice does blogging right. What she wants, when she wants it...
  • Rachel Gray at Infused Knowledge. Very, very bright lady!
  • Angela at Where Angels Go. Angela loves meme's and awards and we love her. Don't worry Angela - I'm getting around to the Ten Top Catholic meme. Promise!
  • Kelly at Answering the Call, my east side neighbor and newly minted Catholic

*

*Notes from Elle

****My Mom took me to see Frank today. He's my vet and we've been on a first name basis ever since he played with my insides. I had my stitches out and the scar looks pretty good. I may be able to wear that bikini after all. We can hope.

****The steroids make me soooo hungry I tried to bust into the jar on the counter filled with doggie treats. I feel like that dog in the Beggin' Strips commercial who's in search of the bacon. Or at the very least, one of the Zombies asking for more cops to be sent. In my case it's, "bring more food," in a really creeeeepy Zombie-like voice. "Cause see, I wouldn't eat a cop even if they did send one, but don't tell my Mom that. It's good to keep her on edge. You should have seen the look on her face when I was licking her leg the other morning. She thought I was sizing her up for breakfast. ROTFLMAO!!!
*
****The nice lady at the desk had some hypo-allergenic treats and I gobbled down two or three of those and scattered crumbs all over her paperwork. She didn't seem to mind. After my nap I'll probably get this goofy barrette off my head and try to eat that like I did the last one. They definitely need salt, though.
*
****My Mom has to give me my B12 shot this afternoon. It's warming up on the counter while I'm taking a nap with my Dad. The needle is about 10 or 12 inches long. No lie! Hope she doesn't run it straight through and come out the other side and squirt it all over the floor. I heard Frank telling her not to worry where she gave me the injection. He said to think of it as "doggie lawn darts" - anywhere was good. Hmmmmm, not sure I like the sound of that at all.

**

***I've gotten pretty slim. It's my Paris Hilton look - all bones and big feet. So my Mom asked Frank if she could have the same surgery and get slim, too. How lame. I was pretty embarrassed, but I'm sure Frank is used to goofy stuff like that by now.

****Nice to touch base with all of you. If I don't snare the computer before Christmas have a Merry one, and be sure and give your fur people a really nice gift - like food!!

I Heart Awards
(In particular when I am the recipient)

****One of my all time favorite bloggers, a man of rare wisdom, kindness, and a keen intellect (that's why he gave me one of the awards), included me in a list of very important people.

****This award is given for recognition of cultural, ethical, literary, and personal values transmitted in the form of creative and original writing. If he was able to read the first 12,000 words of my NaNoWriMo novel, I sure wouldn't be getting this award so best we keep that little work in progress under wraps - probably forever!
*
Philip, over at Pellegrinaggio, crossing the Ponte Sisto was kind enough to "make my day." Thanks Philip..... (and I promise to not make any comment about how cute you are - promise!)
*
I've listed all the folks that Philip gave the award to as a way of saying, "Go visit these wonderful people."

Paul
Kirk
Fr Patrick
Oliver
Kaila
Adele and Doug
Fr Jeffrey
Gregory et al
Auntie Joanna
Tribunus
Adrienne
Fr Tim
Fr Ray
Fr John
William

***I'm probably supposed to give this award to a whole raft of folks but with my word count down on my novel this is all I can handle. Managed to get my word count where it belonged, missed another day, and am now back to having to write 3000 words tonight after Mass.

award

Therese at Aussie Coffee Shop has given me this brightly colored Super Commenter.

Now I must pass this on to seven worthy people who must also pass it on to seven (or number of choice - my addition to the rules) worthy folk.

  1. The first goes to Karen (Gemmie) at Gem of the Ocean. This gal is as loyal as they come. Luv ya, Karen
  2. Tom in Vegas, my precious cyber-nephew, is always here for me. He hangs out at thatrallylongandhardtospellblog Science, Religion, and Miscellaneous Babble. It's not you Tom - it's me. Those are three words I have a horrible time spelling (yes, even sciene)
  3. Phillip at Ponte Sisto deserves this award just for being so darn cute.......just saying
  4. This one is for Paul at Sober Catholic. Great blog for everyone, not just us drunks
  5. Karen at Some Have Hats is a pleasure to read and I am a huge fan. So here's one for you, Karen.
  6. And the last award will have to go to My Lord and Savior for being the number one commenter - ever.

A New Award

It's been just forever since anyone has given me an award. I saw this one floating around and in my usual mature fashion have been sitting in the corner crying, sucking my thumb, and twirling my hair because no one gave me one. I need more than the usual amount of attention, either good or bad, in order to maintain my equilibrium. Well, God heard my voice whining out in the wilderness and sent me not one, but two people to give me this wonderful award.

Roses and Jessamine awarded me with the Blogging Friends Forever Gold Card. Even though Roses and Jessamine sounds like two people it is only one dear girl in Sussex, UK. Go visit her but be forewarned. If during your visit you think your computer has contracted a fatal disease and is about to blow up (which I did), it is only Mint Sauce, her pet lamb you are hearing. If you are really bored today you can scroll down and play with Mint.

And, the very next day to my utter joy, my cyber-nephew (who just had a birthday and is now almost as old as me) Tom in Vegas of Science, Religion, and Miscellaneous Babble (otherwise known as the reallylongandalmostimpossibletospellblogname) gave me another Gold Card. I am truly blessed!

Now I must pass this wonderful award on to five wonderful friends.

The Blogging Friends Forever Rules are:

1. Only five people allowed. (That about wipes out my visitor log)

2. Four have to be dedicated followers of your blog. (Hmmmmmm)

3. One has to be someone new, or recently new to your blog, or live in another part of the world.

4. You must link back to whoever gave you the 'Blogging Friends Forever' award.

So here goes:

1. The first award is to welcome back our vacationing "Cranky Cathy" at the Recovering Dissident Catholic. Her time away resting and playing (can you say rehab, wink, wink) has mellowed her. Her post yesterday and today concerning Nancy Pelosi is wonderful.

2. Catholicandgop over at Faith and Country has earned an award for actually commenting on some of the inane things I've said.

3. Kirk my friend at Practicing God's Presence deserves an award, not only for being a very special on-line friend, but also for being such a great cook and sharing pictures of his goodies.

4. "Robert Kumpel" over at St. John's Valdosta is probably not a dedicated reader but he should be. Since I am a rather dedicated follower of his, I figure it's ok. Not a day goes by that I don't regale my husband with something Robert posts.

5. And finally to my neighboring blogger, Mark in Spokane at Libertas et Memoria, who happens to be named Mark (what a coincidence) goes the final award. Mark is new to blogging and hasn't been blessed with an award or bothered by a meme yet. It's time he faced the real challenges of blogging. Mark, it's not about being intelligent, clever, or even getting your commas in the right place. It's really about dealing with a barrage of peripheral stuff.

Mark is an attorney and I promised to hook him up with a few other "legal eagles." Mark - visit Digi at Digital Hairshirt ,who happens to be one of the best writers in the blogosphere. Digi is funny, smart, and always entertaining. Kit over at By the Brook is also in the law business and would love to meet you, Mark.

Update: Wonderful ebeth over at a Catholic Mom Climbing the Pillars gave me this award, too. I love this lady!!!

Milestones

Kit over at By the Brook has graciously handed out awards to celebrate her 100th post. Stop by and congratulate her for this milestone.

And Jackie, the mother of this lot, at Mothers Pride also celebrated her 100th post. These wonderful ladies are celebrating their achievement by giving us awards. How classy is that??

Gifts and Awards

This week I received a wonderful gift. A very handsome and much younger man sent me the two volume set of Agnus Dei sung by The Choir of New college, Oxford and........................The Face: Jesus in Art, a two hour DVD.

To quote the back cover of the DVD - " The Face: Jesus in Art takes viewers from ancient Rome to 20th-century America, from Europe to the Middle East, to illuminate the most beautiful and spectacular representations of Jesus and his stories. The program feature up close views of the catacombs of Rome, Michelangelo's work, the treasures of Chartres Cathedral and much more."

So now you know where I have been the past few days. Gazing into the face of Jesus and listening to the heavenly choirs sing.

If that wasn't enough, The Fixer over at Little Pink Toolbox made me an award. She has learned from her Mother of this Lot, that I whine, cry, and otherwise make a fool of myself if someone doesn't acknowledge me.

I Love Awards

Jackie over at Mother's Pride has once again outdone herself handing out awards. She actually called me a thinker.

And in case you didn't know - one of her brilliant daughters now has a blog all her own. The Fixer can be found at Little Pink Toolbox. We should all be so lucky to have such full comment boxes.

Voting continues over at The Crescat. I am nominated in just about every category because I nominated myself. It appears that Thom at Ad Dominum and I are having a bit of a "vote war" for Best Blog by a Charismatic Catholic. I like Thom. I think Thom is a really great guy. HOWEVER, Thom is 24 years old. There is nothing really wrong with being 24 years old - nothing at all. And I'm not jealous because he has a beautiful new header on his blog. No siree, Bob! Not jealous at all.

I

JUST

HATE

TO

LOSE!!!!!

Ok - that's out of my system. Head on over and cast a vote for this maturely charasmatic (in the good sense of the word) lady.

Thank you in advance.

A New Award

The awards are coming fast and furious, which is a very good thing. Since I am a weak and willful person with a tendency to whine, awards remind me that you like me, you really like me.

Jackie over at Mother’s Pride has a passel of brilliant daughters. The Fixer has conjured up a new award and, well, I got one.

Looks like today is going to be a great day. Thanks, Fixer!

  3. part three

Therefore, we who are alcoholics can consider ourselves fortunate indeed. Each of us has had his own near-fatal encounter with the juggernaut of self-will, and has suffered enough under its weight to be willing to look for something better. So it is by circumstance rather than by any virtue that we have been driven to A.A., have admitted defeat, have acquired the rudiments of faith, and now want to make a decision to turn our will and our lives over to a Higher Power.

"... my grace is sufficient for you, for my POWER is made perfect in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
