During the season of giving, be careful where you donate...

not all charities are equal.

While the arrogant elitist so-called-leaders of the world spewed thousand of tons of hot air and jet fuel to attend a conference in Paris to decide what to do about non-existent global warming, most people are going about their day-to-day  routines.

Included in these routines is the video of someone grabbing an electric veggie steamer from a little kid during black Friday (which was probably a fake video.)  I wasn't so outraged by the veggie steamer grabbing as I was by the fact that there is such a thing as an electric veggie steamer.  People are actually paying for an appliance to take up space in their kitchen to steam veggies?  I'm glad people want to eat more veggies, but a simple veggie basket that folds up into a neat little bundle will do the job for one tenth of the price.

Back to the season of giving.  Do you know where your money is going when you donate to a charity?

Let's take a look at one of the larger "charities."

Every year, Catholics are exhorted in November to give to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD)

Here's how it works.  The federal government steals a bunch of money from hard working Americans in the form of taxes.  Then they sit around in DC and try to decide how to spend this money, or more accurately put, who to reward with their largess, but not before skimming off their share.

Each year they give a grant to the CCHD.  The CCHD skims off a chunk before allocating it to different charities, most of whom are nothing more than community organizers.  Each of these different community organizations skims off another chunk.  That chunk is getting mighty small.  After the community organizers get their chunk, they pass what's left off to some charity or another, who, wait for it, grabs a small chunk for themselves.

Quite a few years ago, I spent several days vetting the organizations which received CCHD money.  I'm convinced that many of these organizations did not even exist.  No address, no phone number, no list of executives. Nothing. Nada.  So who, exactly, got that 20, 30, or 40K grant from CCHD?  We'll never know.

Then the Church beseeches it's parishioners to give even more money to the CCHD.  The parish then sends the money to the diocese, who in turn sends it to the CCHD headquarters in Washington.  Getting the picture?

I'm not picking on only the CCHD.  Almost all charities are run like this - including religious ones.

The Lepanto Institute has wonderfully summarized the Marxist influence on the CCHD in their article The Marxist Core of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development.
The annual national collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) is this weekend (11/18/2015).  What many Catholics do not realize is that at the very core of the CCHD is a philosophy of revolutionary leftist ideologies.  Over the years, the CCHD has been rightly criticized for funding organizations that are themselves promoting contraception, homosexuality, abortion, prostitution, and socialism.  But these issues are only symptoms of an overall thrust that is aimed directly at convincing Catholics to fund Marxist revolution in the United States.  The intent of this article, while certainly not exhaustive, is to help Catholics understand how the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is simply the Catholic version of what Josef Stalin called “Front Organizations” for the Communist Party.  read the rest
It is well worth the read so you may better understand one aspect of how the long march through the institutions is affecting our society.

A better way to help people is through donations to local food banks, helping your church with food basket donations, or directly helping a family who you know is in need.
