Planned Parenthood uses your tax money to defend "free" birth control...

which isn't "free."  You'll be paying for that too...

Not only does this taxpayer supported baby-killing organization practically demand that the Susan B. Komen foundation continue to funnel money to them (about time Komen wised up), they also are joining in the attack on the conscience rights of millions of people who don't want to pay for birth control.

As egregious as this attack on religious liberty is, I think we're all missing the bigger point.  Why is the federal government mandating anything at all?  Collectively, it is those very mandates that are one of the contributing factors to the rising cost of health insurance.  Added to federal mandates are state mandates.  The higher the number of insurance provider mandates in a state, the higher the cost of insurance.  One doesn't need to be a math wizard to figure this out.

If you're living in a state with a slew of mandates like Minnesota (over 60) your insurance costs are necessarily going to be very high.  So how about you buy your insurance in Idaho, which has the fewest mandates (about 14)?  That makes sense, except the government has said you can't do that, thereby forcing you to spend thousands of dollars more per year.  Does any of this make sense?

From LifeNews:

Planned Parenthood TV Ads Defend Obama’s Attack on Catholics

The Planned Parenthood abortion business is defending President Barack Obama’s decision to put in place a mandate forcing religious employers to pay for insurance coverage for their employees that covers birth control or drugs that may cause abortions.

The Obama Administration issued a statement re-iterating the “contraceptive mandate” requiring all insurance providers cover the full range of FDA-approved drugs and devices would remain intact. This mandate, issued in August, includes drugs that work after conception to destroy life rather than prevent it.

The statement included a postponement of one year for religious groups that do not already carry contraceptives and additionally would not be exempted under last year’s narrow definition of “religious employer.”  read the rest and watch the ad
 H/T Weasel Zippers

Of course, the bishops of the Catholic Church are expressing high dudgeon about the situation.  Their outrage is palatable.  Harken back just a few years ago and they were all happy-clappy about ObamaCare.  Wow! - social justice at it's finest.  People mocked Glenn Beck when he called "social justice" code for Marxism.  Who's being mocked now?

In his article today at American Spectator Civil Disobedience in Obama's Second Term, George Neumayr starts off by saying:
Some of Barack Obama's useful idiots on the Catholic center/left say that his decree forcing religious organizations to pay for contraceptives amounts to a betrayal. No, it is not. Candidate Obama had telegraphed his plans to discriminate against the religious. Were Cardinal Mahony and company too busy burbling over "hope and change" to pay attention? You made Obama's bed; now lie in it.
And let's not kid ourselves: they will lie in it, even if a few of them have mumbled in recent days some words about "civil disobedience." Whatever civil disobedience materializes in the future, it will not come from these worldly weasels -- who don't even consider artificial birth control a mortal sin anyways -- but from orthodox priests and nuns uncowed by the state.  read it all it only gets better
And Ann Barnhardt has some serious and scathing commentary in three parts Ab homine iniquo, et doloso erue me  (“Deliver me from the unjust and deceitful man.”)
It’s time to make the BIG post about the Marxist infiltration of the Catholic bishopric and how this all relates to the Obama regime’s full-on declaration of war against the Catholic Church. Most people out there simply do not understand what is going on, but it is time to shine as much light as possible on the whole, sickening mess, because you can not navigate what you do not see and understand.  read it all
And what happens to any Catholic who dares to speak the truth?   They are piled on, insulted, accused of being "conspiracy nuts", no never mind that these happenings are verifiable facts. Leading the charge are many of the "professional" Catholic laity, who earn their living through their supposed piety and continue to insist, "There's no problem."

Lest anyone think I'm leveling accusations at all of the bishops or all of the "professional" Catholics, allow me to disabuse you of that notion.  We have some outstandingly fine bishops who are doing a yeoman's job of teaching the faith.  Members of the laity such as Patrick Madrid and Scott Hahn are masters at imparting the authentic Catholic faith to millions and our Church is enriched by them.  Unfortunately, due to poor catechesis over the past 50 years, it has become increasingly difficult for the laity to distinguish between the good and the bad, and that is not likely to change in the near future.  As in all things, "Trust, but verify."

From Hot Air:    Breaking: Komen announces that Planned Parenthood eligibility for funding will continue

Komen bragged their donations were up 100% after defunding PP.  Everyone who made a donation should call them up and demand their money back post haste.

Which takes us back to an important question.  If PP is making a HUGE profit every year, why do they need money from taxpayers and Susan B. Komen?  The lefties in this country are really twisted sick puppies (no offense to puppies intended.)
