So - how about that budget deal?

Thank goodness someone saved me the trouble of having to actually write something.  The Lonely Conservative summed it all up nicely and said pretty much what I would have said (if I had said it - which I didn't - at least not yet) - and I thank her from the bottom of my lazy little heart.

Head over to her slice of blogging goodness and read what she has to say.

As for me?  I can't get too excited one way or the other.  The math informs me that the game is over no matter what anyone does so I'm headed outside to get some work done.

Oh, I think Boehner went all the way to the edge then blinked. We lose. Is anyone surprised?

Negative Blue, at least I am not surprised and I don't think many Tea Party people are either.

Pretty much what I thought would happen. Politics as usual in Washington DC, Politicians win and America and Americans lose!

Adrienne, I see I topped you on Louie's blog!

No surprise here. Just another day on the animal farm where some are still more equal than others.

But I'll bet the supporters of the Culture of Death will up the ante regardless of winning (again), this fiasco put too much attention on them. Look for a higher degree of persecution against prolifers in the near future.

Blue - it really does get discouraging...

Pops - all the politicians are worms. Simple!

I wouldn't know about my placement on Louis' blog since I don't go there.

Sub - I'm still pissed from finding out that PP gives out birth control pills to girls as young as THIRTEEN without the knowledge or consent of the parents. That is evil!

Maybe I'm just too gullible, or politically inexperienced or something, but I don't think this budget deal was the end of the world as we know it. Yes, I would have preferred Boehner to have gone to war over it...but the reality is that if he was going to do so, he probably waited too long. I think he recognized that, at this point, the government "shut down" would hurt the GOP more than the Dems.

It took us decades to get into the hole we're in now, and I just don't see how we could possibly get out of it in six months. I give Boehner credit for at least fighting for CUTS now, rather than competing with the Dems to see who can spread around the most pork and establish permanent legislative majorities.

I know Boehner isn't Ronald Reagan. But even Reagan understood the importance of being a team-player and not letting the perfect become the enemy of the good. That's why he ran against Ford in the primary, but go out and supported him for all he was worth in the general.

The time to have these intra-party fights is the primaries. They're coming up soon enough. But it's kind of like football. It'd be great to score a touchdown on every play, but sometimes you just gotta be thankful for three yards and cloud of dust.

Sorry folks. Looks like I've gotta eat crow on this one. The more details come out about the budget compromise, the more it appears Boehner simply folded like a cheap card table.

Very disappointed...but that's what primaries are for, right?
