Interesting and dangerous -- particularly for Israel, I think.

I have a bad feeling that the devil we know is going to wind up better than the devil we don't. My great fear is that Egypt will go the way of Iran, with the Muslim Brotherhood eventually taking over the same way Lenin and the Bolsheviks did in Russia after the fall of the Romanovs. Ugh...

I am all for getting rid of dictators, but only if what replaces them turns out to be an improvement. Democracy, unfortunately, doesn't always mean liberty. Or stability. Or human rights. It can be a gateway to tyranny, particularly when manipulated by an unscrupulous faction that seeks dominance via manipulation of the majority.

To put a slightly optimistic spin on things, there is no equivalent of the Ayotollah Khomeini waiting in the wings as there was for Iran. This could all fall permanently into the lap of their military who may not want sharia law.

So we should hope for the best while preparing for the worst.
