Obama to focus on education...

Really?

How much is this going to cost?

I thought he was going to focus "with laser-like intensity" on jobs.

Silly me!

Trouble Lurking Ahead For Obama's Education Focus

Signs of trouble are arising for President Barack Obama's plan to put education overhaul at the forefront of his agenda as he adjusts to the new reality of a divided government. read the rest

Big Government: New Film exposes Unions Decimation of Education

Solution?  The feds need to close down the Department of Education and let the states run their own schools. The states need to sell the schools and privatize them.  End of problem.

I'm linking the above article again because it is so well done, and because it's so important to understand what is going on in today's world.  We have been morally and intellectually dumbed-down to the point where right reason has all but been obliterated from our citizens.  We are quickly becoming a nation of people who worship only Hollywood stars and gorge our minds on the sinkhole of MTV.

Deviancy continues to be defined down (thank you Mr Moynihan) and we now accept as "normal" the most appalling behavior, and simply shrug and say, "it's just the times we live in."

What is it with you lefties trying to rewrite history?
You are a small man Jr. who has done nothing with your life, other than make a cheap living off your parents name spouting crap on any left wing show that will have you.

Smearing Ron and Nancy just earned you another.

I really am sure the "One" really, really will focus like a laser on jobs, I just don't know which union will benefit the most. Thanks again for the link "young lady".....

I miss President Reagan.

Just sayin'

He wouldn't have put up with these Socialist pukes.

He may have had "the disease" but he was still a better leader than our current Clown in Chief is.

President Reagan was an American.

I feel a rant coming on. :)

Education reform is laudable, but unfortunately, Obama will do for education precisely what he did for health care. His reform will be anything but.

To really reform education, there are three things that must happen. First, the federal Dept. of Education has to be abolished and responsibility for education sent back to the state and local governments. Second, the teachers unions have to be abolished as well. Third, the qualifications to teach have to be altered -- no more useless "education" degrees. A history teacher needs to be qualified in history. A math teacher needs to be qualified in math. A biology teacher in biology, a Spanish teacher in Spanish, etc. The education degree certification cycle is nothing more than a racket.

Now, I see absolutely no possibility in the near term that any of those reforms will come to pass. Therefore, I am not optimistic about the prospects of reforming our schools.
