First Sunday of Lent Homily

From the Nazareth Priest:

Today is the first Solemn celebration of Lent. We began our Lenten journey on Ash Wednesday by fasting and abstinence. The Church, as our Mother, entrusts her children to God’s grace and mercy during this most blessed Season of repentance, conversion, penance, prayer and almsgiving. Our Gospel for this Sunday’s Mass sets the tone for our Lenten observances: Jesus is drawn into the desert after His Baptism by John in the Jordan for forty days to be tempted by the devil. read the rest

This is one of THE most beautiful stories about Christ. I imagined his forty days as I held my rosary at Mass on Ash Wednesday, and I will be reflecting about this throughout Lent.
