Supposedly, he's there to praise the great job Wisconsin is doing with education. Really? Wisconsin has some of the worst scores in the country for blacks in reading and math.
And they just can't let a chance pass to bash Bush can they?
State Sen. Luther Olsen (R-Ripon) said he was still a bit perplexed that the president was coming to Wisconsin at all, what with the economy, health care, Afghanistan and Pakistan on his agenda.
To that, Charles Barone, director of federal policy for Democrats for Education Reform, responded:
"We've got a president who can walk and chew gum at the same time." Yeah, right. But he can't dance...
Or could there be other reasons??

Milwaukee (right next door to me) and the town I live in (Racine) have the worst educational records in the state. It's not just the Milwaukee school system that there's talk of the State taking over, it's also Racine. If you lived in either community, it would blow your mind how bad it is here. And yet the state teacher's union controls all, under Doyle's thumb to boot - kicking, screaming, fighting for more benefits and pension money, etc., while the kids go down the shitter. It's a total mess here.
I kid you not, A. NO high-profile (D) in Wisconsin will enter the Gubernatorial race, to date--and the election is 1 year away.
Two reasons: 1) the current (D) Governor has left a smoking, radioactive, hole in the State's finances which cannot be repaired in less than 4 years of effort (with luck...) and 2) the Trotskyite Obama Administration has even further damaged the (D) brand.
(D)'s here with an IQ larger than the number of their fingers get the picture: they will lose, period.
Obama keeps complaining about how he has so much on his "plate", and yet all he does is campaign. Did anyone tell him the campaign is over now? I think he just feeds on the adoring crowds and has to have his fix.
And the last guy that should be talking about education is Obama. If he was all that much of a role model, why doesn't he show us his grades that he has locked away from public view?
Charlotte - I keep hearing that from folks that live in Wisconsin. I'm from MN originally and find that really weird. Although IMHO all the schools are crappy. I think everyone should have vouchers and the schools should all be privately owned. Real competition would take care of the problem, post haste!
Dad - we're taking back the country one state at a time...
Mary Ellen - he's numbers are dropping so fast the only way he can get an adoring crowd is to force 6th graders to go to his assembly...
The people that voted him in are back in the dorms smoking pot, doncha know...
Oh man! I wondered why today was the pits...Didn't even know "The Pres" was in our beloved state of WI.
I tell ya', there may be a lot of Catholics in this state, but you wouldn't know it.
Jesus, mercy!
Well, when presidents power in DC wanes, they hit the road. Its a way of getting some affirmation after being kicked to the curb a bit -- lots of rallies, speeches, dinners, talking to politicans who are farther down on the political food chain...What's not to like if you are the president and your party just got hammered in the critical off-year elections.
Nazareth P - Ummmmmmmmmm - does that mean you didn't whip over to the middle school to see the One?
Mark - but middle school kids?? He's been on the road since the day he was elected. What a loon!
God is Love.
Adrienne: It would be a cold day in hell before I set foot anywhere near "the One" was speaking; I stay home and pray and try to be good (with emphasis on TRY!)
Nazareth priest - it's ok. I was just pulling on your robes....or hood, or something.
