Nothing to Say

Blogging is becoming ridiculous and unhealthy...

I really have nothing to say that hasn't been said already.  Bloggers, in an effort to pump their stats, are posting for postings sake.  These "citizen journalists", many who have families and jobs, are posting 10, 20, or more times per day.  Do not tell me that their family, job, or personal development is not suffering, because I won't believe you.

If my readers don't know by now that Obama is a Socialist, hell bent on destroying this country, well so be it.  As for me, I have books to read, art to make, cooking and organizing to do - much of which has suffered lately.
When I feel the urge to write an opinion piece that may have some value, even if the value is only to myself, I'll be back.

Perhaps our time could be better spent on more one-on-one contact with people, educating them on what is going on in this country, instead of continually preaching to the choir.

Blogging for many has become nothing more than a narcissistic attempt at some form of celebrity.  And the surest way to gain this false form of notoriety, is to strive to be the cleverest or meanest.  It's making me tired...

Adrienne, I comprehend your feelings and thought process, it's natural and happens to the majority of us, what Nixon termed the "Silent Majority", which are here resisting the imposition of a devious and diabolical ethos upon the Republic.

Take a couple of days off, refresh yourself, but we need you back...you are a Catholic Patriot and one day soon, in '10 and later '12, we will restore freedom, honor and decency to DC.

Sorry that you are having a bad time right now with blogging. I do know what you mean about posting just to make a post, but I also know many bloggers will set up scheduling posting so that posting will post at certain times a day. So IN SOME cases it's possible that all the post were made say Sunday Night.

I've been thinking about this a lot, too. I have to blog for "marketing", but I don't try to just throw up posts for their own sake anymore. I read a blog entry by a woman who took an internet fast for a week, and one of the things she said that really made an impact on me is, most of the little pithy things we post on Facebook or Twitter, if we had to actually call someone to say them or write them down, we'd probably decide they aren't important enough. But because it's easy and available, we puff ourselves up by thinking the world cares what we think about every little thing that happens to us.

Blogging can become exasperating, that's why I changed my political blog to just a blog about anything I feel like writing. I've lost many many friends because of my lack of support (to put it mildly) for Obama. I also stopped being afraid to blog about my faith. I don't care if it offends others...I refuse to be shut down because my faith or political views differ from others.

Take a break if you need it...but please don't stop visiting with us, I know I'd miss seeing your around. :-)

I'll miss you, but totally understand the need to spend time doing "real life" things. Enjoy your break.

I know where you're coming from. I've been blogging for a year now, and a lot of things have been neglected.

It's hard to organize the priorities sometimes.

You've provided a valuable service here, and I look forward to future posts, whenever they may come.

Take a break -- or just maybe post once or twice a week. I really appreciate your voice on the internet, Adrienne. I would hate to see you go away.

But I wrestle with the same issues myself. I have thought more than once of putting my blog on hiatus. It's a tough call...

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

When it isn't fun or satisfying, it's break time. See ya later.

Enjoy your break, Adrienne. Recharge the batteries.

I hope to see you around soon - don't be too much of a stranger!

Your post made me laugh. Our God given free will lends us to odd diversions. God Bless you and I'll try not to blog about have a glass of juice later. Let's pray that everyone takes a lesson on joining in on real life to deal with the issues of the day.

Adrienne, what you wrote is true. I haven't been posting very much because I have been more engaged in my children and husbands lives. I hate repeating myself on my blog and my blog readership has tanked. I lost a follower last week too. (it's also my anxiety that keeps me from posting sometimes)
I suppose the truth is that all things are for Christ and sometimes it's not the blog that he wants done for the day, but I do love you and our blogger buddies.

I know exactly what your talking about, I have really had to allow myself to go days on end without blogging, I actually considered closing my blog for lack of enjoyment of it anymore.. but instead, I've decided that I'll blog but just not as often and definitely not daily and probably not weekend either.. those times are reserved for my hubby and kids:-) Take a break if you need one, I hope to see you back soon.. you need to stop, refresh, recenter... that is ok!! Blessings!!

I feel exactly the same way- which is why I usually link from other blogs of distinction (including this one by the way!!!). I know that I am intelligent, etc., but in this new media age, time to properly formulate your thoughts for publication is a luxury. We will catch up when God wants us to do so. So, I started a blog dedicated to my dachshunds to recharge the brain cells, and continue to link to my favorite blogs until I have something original and or personl to say!!!

As you can see by my post today, I need a break from the horrors of our present administration and country.

Wish we could talk on the phone......

Adrienne, you are probably not going to publish this but I dare you to do so anyway. Nothing personal my dear but I see a bit of projection here. Your whole blog is almost nothing but negativity, anger, criticism, and making over the top statements (like Obama is intentionally trying to destroy the country). Frankly, I don't see how you can honestly criticize others for just giving their opinions when you are on here doing almost nothing but running people down. Anyway, I just feel I have to be frank with you. You'll probably get pissed at me, but oh well.

Ok...break's over. I miss you and your posts. :-(

I understand. I hope you are ok. You 'sound' angry about something. Prayers here.

I agree - I get like this all of the time - and keep coming back. Try a new profile pic and pretend you are really Aaron Echkart - works for me. Just kidding.

It is important however to try and figure this nonsense out from time to time, and to explore our role in it, as well as to question why we keep doing it. To examine our ways as it were - it's a good thing - else the process swallows us up.

Don't be discouraged - you are a very good blogger and an excellent writer, and your insights affirm others. God bless you!

Omigosh! I just left a comment and then realized this post was about me! That's it! I'm just sticking to my Pamela Anderson Fan Club blog from now on!

One of the challenges of our generation is the imapact of technology on our spiritual lives. If we are not careful, technology has a way of compromising our ability to be present to ourselves, to God and to each other, all of which are fundamental elements of the spiritual life. I am disturbed by my own compulsion to check e-mail late at night and first thing in the morning. When left unchecked, this lack of discipline imperceptibly robs me of rest in the evening and silent presence to God in the morning. I can become exhausted by the intrusion of the media and technology into every corner of my life, resulting in constant overstimulation of body, mind and emotions. All of this convenience wears me out! - Ruth Barton, Sacred Rhythms

Joe- I hardly think pointing out that our President is very hostile to Christians, particularly Catholics, is overly negative. It is a *bit* horrifying to see your country being manipulated by someone who cares not about the Constitution. It has made me angry on several occassions and we all must remember that this (president) to shall pass. Now if we lived in North Korea, Obama might be a step up.

Joe said...

Hostile to some Christians, not all. He is himself a Christian, albeit a liberal congregationalist Christian. And yes, he supports political positions that are contrary to Catholic teaching. Does that make him anti-Catholic?

I find this whole game of accusing Obama of being an evil american hating anti-christian communist and then whining and claiming persecution when someone states the obvious (that you are using absurd over the top rhetoric), a bit tiring.

I've been blogging for 5 years and even though I have a small readership, I do it because I think it's important to be heard. It's possible no one gives a rat's ass about what I say, but still I feel the need to say it.

If every blogger felt the way you do, we wouldn't be accomplishing all that we've accomplished. Yeah, Michelle Malkin can, and often times does, say it better. But the more voices out there, the more we hold up our ideals.

Sure, it is tough to constantly rail against the same issues day after day. But you can't let that silence you.

From some of the comments you've already received today, I can tell you have made a difference. Maybe it's just to a few people. But those people know you are valuable and that what you say means something.
