Coming to a neighborhood near you: Professor "I'm just outraged" Gates will be suing - and soon. Mark my words....
I am so tired of whining Negroes. When did Negroes become black people anyway? I'd rather be a Negro.
And African-American? No they're not. They're Americans unless they were born in Africa. Charlize Theron is an African-American and I suspect Obama is too.
Meantime: Meet my new French press....
French press: Say hi to all my friends....
As soon as I recover a bit from my hard labor outside and scrape off the dirt, I'll be headed to the store to get some properly ground coffee to test drive my French press.
Snagged it at T.J. Max for $12.99. Closest price online was a sale price of $22.95 (plus shipping). Regular price $33.95
My buddy Mark in Spokane says they make really yummy coffee. Mark also has some really yummy posts up and running so pop on over and say hi!
Starting tomorrow (hopefully) I'll be doing a linky-love posting every Friday. There are so many wonderful writers out in cyber-space (like Stacy McCain who knows where to put commas) and his co-blogger Smitty (I have a crush on Smitty), who is having a serious nervous break down due to the rampant racism in Cambridge.
Voting has started at The Crescat for the Ugliest Church Art.
Dear Lord above, there are some appalling examples of everything that can go wrong with "art"

As everybody knows, Cambridge, Mass., is the global epicenter of white supremacy. It's the notorious Harvard Apartheid!
Well, as a general rule, I think people should be called what they want to be called. As I understand it, "negro" is considered to be offensive -- a term from when blacks were legally discriminated against. I can certainly understand the desire by people not to tagged with a label that harkens back to a time of oppression. Think of the Irish and the Italians and the names that were commonly used to identify people of those ethnicities...Would any proud Irish-American or Italian-American want to be called by those names today? I don't think so...
I would note that some consistency would be nice. For example, "Asians" are referred to by their continent of origin, while "whites" are referred to be skin color -- unless they are referred to as "Caucasian," after an erroneous 19th century theory about where the "white race" originated. And then again there is the whole question about which ethnic groups get to claim "white" status -- do the Irish? The Italians? Back in the day, both the Irish and the Italians weren't considered "white." What about Hispanics? Most Latinos in the US identify as "white," for example. Germans? Did you know that Benjamin Franklin didn't think that German immigrants to colonial Pennsylvania were "white"? He thought they differed in "complexion" to the English settlers in the colony. Go figure.
Enjoy the French press coffee! It's the best way to make coffee, hands down. I will never go back to drip coffee again. Get some Vienese roast and all will be well! Hmmm...coffee...
We have a friend who is a priest in Malawi, and he sent us some coffee from Malawi last year. It was heavenly. No pun intended.
Oh, thanks for the shout out and link to my blog as well. I appreciate it!
Pissy Henry is a big pain in the buttocks. I hope this blows up in Barry's face big time.
I have to go find it, but I heard the Bill Cosby weighed in on the Cambridge debacle and what "he whose name shall never cross my lips had to say about it." I need to research and see what he actually had to say.
Glad I found you. I think we may very well be kindreds.
G2M - I watched it earlier and he is very delicate trying not to insult anyone - which is the way it should be.
My jaw about hit the floor when "he" said what he said. The only reason it didn't is because it was already on the floor from the first 50 minutes of lies....
Mark - I think Kevin Jackson calls himself a negro. And I don't mind being called a wop or a dago - but then I am a little nuts.
And........lots of people don't consider Italians "white" and lots of us really aren't.
Hi Adrienne. Your french press looks great! I need another as I lost mine... or I broke it and don't remember.... or the kids broke it and didn't tell me... anyway, I may have to head to TJ Maxx!
Kelly - we just made our first pot and it was luscious!!
Lusting after your press!
I used to work with a white man who was originally from South Africa. He used to get the blacks @ work in a tizzy because he would rail at them and tell them "they weren't African Americans" because unlike him, they weren't born in Africa. I used to snicker behind my hand.
I can remember being in kindergarten and we called black kids "negro" because "black" was offensive. Sorta like Indians=Native Americans=The People. Decide on a name so we won't hurt your feelings when speaking about you already!
MH68 - The Press is a HUGE success! Great coffee.
Now a days someone is always "offended" by something. Always!
Sorry Adrienne, I won't use anything French. (It's a genetic thing.)
Father Erik - So call it a German Press or whatever...Honestly - it makes GREAT coffee!! When my drip machine goes belly up I highly doubt it will be replaced. It will be the German Press all the time!
Do you mind updating to my new blog please?
Fr Erik,
You can call it a "piston coffee maker".
Mine's is a Bodum.
Too bad you have a "genetic thing" about the French. Lucky for us our Pope does not feel that way :-)
Elise B.
Je habite sous le pont. That's the only thing I remember from French class. Maybe Obama should follow suite.
