GM closing 1,100 dealerships
Chrysler closing 1,900
At a low-ball figure of 50 employees per store that works out to 150,000 jobs (not counting suppliers and the gals that own the coffee trucks.
Beautiful - Says it all....
****Tomorrow evening we'll be attending Mass at St. Al's at Gonzaga University in Spokane.
*****After grabbing a quick bite to eat at Dick's, our favorite drive-in, we'll be heading to the 71st Armed Forces Torchlight Parade which is held as part of the Lilac Festival in Spokane.
****
It's a wonderful parade and this year we did something we've never done before - purchased seating in the bleachers. Whooee! Just like rich people!!
*****It's always thrilling to see the stars and stripes marched down the street by our service men in full uniform and hear the cheering of the crowds. In past years the opening of the parade is marked by a B52 buzzing the downtown. Trust me, when that humongous plane flies low over the buildings, it is a sight to behold.

Sounds like a good time -- I hope you have fun at the parade.
The auto company situation is a joke. GM and Chrysler are in such straights that I'm actually thinking of buying a Ford for my next car. And that is completely unglaublich!
I'm looking at buying a used Ford Five Hundred sedan.
Thanks for posting...
Have fun at the parade, as well.
Way to go Adrienne, a little gentle political irony and a lot of promoting a beautiful city and country. Next time give us some warning so that the rest of us can celebrate with you.
...works out to 150,000 jobs
Is this how the bailout was supposed to work for us?
Oooh. I ll tell the hubby about it and maybe we will go. I think he'd like it.
Also, Obama's speach is just a ruse to raise taxes and take over health care. He thinks we are idiots. The crap that comes out of his mouth...... What does he think the tea parties were about? O wait, he didn't know about the tea parties.
If you say you won't raise taxes, spend TRILLIONS of dollars, & sell our gold to China, what is the next obvious step? Raising taxes!! Duh. I feel dumber listening to him most the time. ugh
I love liliacs! I even bought some liliac scented water since they don't grow down here in FL very well.
Spokane is one of my fathers favorite cities. He'd go there on business trips and come back to lil' ole St. Louis. He thought it was one of the prettiest cities in the US.
