The First Two Weeks
A Recap

In just two weeks:

The President

  • has over-turned the Mexico City Policy allowing your tax dollars to be used for abortions over-seas
  • four of his high-level appointees have proved to be tax cheats, prevaricators, and certainly a part of the "good ol' boys network" (Richardson, Daschel, Killefer,Geitner)
  • He has appointed something like 12 lobbyists to positions in his administration - gosh, I thought for sure he said he stood for "change"
  • Has rammed through, but blessedly not passed yet (we can hope), an economic "stimulus" ( I refuse to say the obvious), bill that has become known (due to that fuzzy little bear, Rush Limbaugh), the Porkulus.
  • He has back-peddled on almost every one of his campaign promises and continued to give interviews in which he says absolutely nothing (a gift, to be sure!)
These are just the highlights. Time and space do not permit me to list everything that has occurred.

In Other News:

****The world continues to pay unprecedented interest to what a "quasi bishop" of the Catholic Church has to say about the Holocaust. The Jews are whining (get a grip), the German chancellor is chiding the Pope (not a good idea), and the blogoshere is lit up like New Years Eve with indignation, explaining, and endless speculation.

*****Let me say this as plainly as I can. Who cares what Williamson, the SSPX, or any of it's adherents do or think? They get way more attention than they deserve.

*****I might also add that admonishment to the recent hub-bub over Fr. Marcial Maciel. He's another one who takes up way more of his share of the oxygen, even in his present condition. The people who have been hanging out in, what appears to be, a highly dysfunctional group of zealots, should just get themselves a martini and chill out somewhere. This also does not deserve all the endless speculation it's getting.

When did people become such whiners and defenders of "feelings" over fact? I would like to call them all a bunch of "old ladies" , but since I "are one", I guess I'll have to find some other term.

Agreed. The key thing about the Legionaries of Christ stuff, though, is that these new revelations make it very difficult to see how the Legion and the RC movement can go forward. This may well be the beginning of the end for the religious organizations that we founded by Maciel. Gracias a Dios!

The people who became part of the Legionaries were following a "man". We need to follow Jesus Christ...

There have always been crazies and strange movements in the Church. But with communication the way it is they can do lots of harm before being shut down...

The chosen one one is leading us soon to a one world government...

Exactly, if a Bishop isn't speaking on faith and morals...what's the point?

Hopefully the movenemt will end...

Great points Adrienne, the best I have heard so far on these matters!

Daschel (sp?) has supposedly withdrawn. Could we really be so lucky?

In the first week, Obama said he was ending torture against enemy combatants (which I agree with), but at the same time he's opening the door for more and more babies to be dismembered in their mothers' wombs. Something is terribly wrong with this picture... By the way, if you're looking for a Campaign 2012 presidential candidate -- already declared -- who has developed a whole platform based on the full spectrum of Catholic teaching, see: www.voteforjoe.com Reference: "I view Joe Schriner as a fervent pro-life candidate willing to make great sacrifices for the moral betterment of our society." -- Fr. Michael Scanlan, former president of Franciscan University.

Once I again, I suffered Charlie Gibson's newscast. He had exactly two people interviewed for "Pope Benedict's public relations nightmare". One was from National Catholic Review and the other was a Jesuit from Georgetown. Neither one was in support of the pope. sigh. Dh says ABC wants America to think that there is no one who supports the Pope.
