CEO Contradicts Obama on Rehiring Employees

Caterpillar Head Says More Layoffs Likely, Even With Stimulus Funding

Let me make sure I understand this correctly. Someone dared to contradict our President - in public?? And this from main stream media...........will wonders never cease!!

At a Caterpillar Inc. plant in Peoria, Ill., today, President Obama said that his proposed economic stimulus would allow the company's CEO to rehire recently laid-off employees. But the head of the company said he will have to fire more workers before he can rehire anyone who has been let go.

Obama has said twice in the past two days that Caterpillar CEO James Owens indicated his company would be able to rehire some of the 20,000 recently laid-off employees. read more

Hi Adrienne,

I found this interesting as I used to live in this area and my dh worked at Cat several years ago. They were really into outsourcing and I was just amazed at how many people from the middle east they hired while amny local residents were without jobs (because they didn't fit the profile -- they were born in the wrong country.)

When my dh left they replaced him with two Iranians who were not even half as qualified as he was. They were hired simply because they were Iranians.

The company has a terrible reputation for the way they treat their employees -- they lay off their workers with only one or two days notice and hire many contract workers so they don't have to pay employee benefits.

They also discriminate against their employees due to age and won't train or promote older, more experienced workers, but lay them off or encourage them to take early retirement instead.

I think it's funny that Obama promises jobs, while the CEO says it's not going to happen.

Isn't it interesting how every time Obamanation opens his mouth -- a lie comes out?

Ever since Barack Hussein Obama was elected in November, companies throughout the country are having massive layoffs. His stimulus plan is really helping workers, isn't it?

Obama is all rhetoric and a lot of people are beginning to see through his ridiculous hype.

We live in a democracy, not a communistic country. We don't want or need socialism, in any sense of the word.

If he actually thinks this ridiculous pork plan of his is going to do any good, then
I have news for the "messiah" -- it aint gonna happen, B.O.!

I am counting off the seconds until he leaves office.

Jean - that's very interesting. I wondered why Obama picked the Cat Co. to do his little stump speech. I figured there had to be a reason.

Even the msm is turning on him - slowly but steadily! I am really thinking this man is going to be impeached...

Adrienne, from your lips to God's ear!

Also, have you noticed, every time BO opens his mouth, the darn DOW plummets?? I asked my dad back in Nov when would the DOW plateau? At 6000, 5000, or lower? He said it wouldn't go past 7000. Hmm, my dad may have to eat some crow!

Not that it's funny. My parents have lost 40% of their retirement. Luckily (or unluckily, depending on how you look at it) Redd and I really haven't been proactive about funding our retirement. The bright side is we haven't lost much. Silver lining?? LOL
