Tea Wars
( maybe a bit more of a tea discussion, but Tea Wars sounds so much more interesting, doncha think?)

**** I should have known that a simple post about tea and saving money would start a mini tea discussion. I do appreciate the input, though.
****Mark , Angela, and Lola are casting votes for Red Rose, while Packrat, who spends her time Swatting at Flies, is siding with Tetley Tea. Cathy said, "Do you like Lapsang Souchong? Republic of Tea makes a very good blend of it. Lapsang is a smoky black flavor. Republic of Tea is loose tea-no bags-so you'd need a tea ball or spoon for it."
****I mentioned that one of my favorite "special moment" teas would be Adagio. I was surprised to see some very reasonable offerings from this company on Amazon. I have one called Chocolate Rum Truffle and their A.M. Wake-Up. You can even design your own tea mixture. ****Adagio are loose teas, and while Cathy suggested a tea ball or spoon, I must tell you about my cool tea infuser. I first saw one at a coffee/tea shop and was so taken with it I asked them to order me one. I think it is the best one I have ever used. A few people that left reviews complained about the holes being too large, but I have not found that to be the case. I heat my water in the microwave and put the infuser after the water is heated. The little lid becomes a place to put your infuser when you take it out of the cup.

I have to admit I loath tea(tastes like dried grass)I prefer coffee..but with temps close to 110 degrees today I had Ice Coffee. Please send me some SNOW! LOL.
I hope you dont mind if I add your blog to our blog roll? Thanking you in advance:)
Peace & blessings to you:)
Marie
What fun, tho! Will into the tea infuser. Thanks for sharing.
Loose tea is the way to go when it comes to flavor, but I am afraid that I am always suckered in to using teabags because of the convenience.
And to clarify, while I am a Red Rose fan, my daily tea is Lipton. Purchased from Costco. Let it steep long enough, and it tastes just fine.
And Marie, I agree with you about the grassy taste, but only in regard to green tea. I only drink green tea when I am sick. I drink black tea normally, and black tea itself has significant health benefits, both in regard to anti-oxidant content, and in regard to enzymes that relax arteries (and thus lower blood pressure, heart attack risk, etc.). Coffee has health benefits as well, but not like tea...
I haven't used anything but the bags and last year, I was into the Stash brand(cheapest purchased on Amazon in bulk). Now, we do various Bigelow and Twinings. Do you ever get the grit from the infuser? That freaks me out. My aunt used the metal ball and it always left gunk.
Thorn - I never get the anything in my tea because I heat the water and then place the infuser in.
On Amazon some of the people said that happened with the one I use, but that was because they were heating their water and pouring it over the dry tea in the basket.
I have a ball and a spoon infuser and I hate them both. Little flakes of stuff in my tea is a big turn off for me too
Microwaves should never be used to make tea, as they "flatten" the water, cooking out oxygen from the center of the vessel outwards. Boil water in a kettle.

Cool I want one!
