Awards

I was reading Adoro's wonderful blog (more about that later), and discovered she has been nominated for Best Religious Blog in the Blogger's Choice Award.

I decided to take a look and discovered I had been nominated also, along with about 5 gazillion of my best blogger buddies.

I got really excited last year over some awards thingy, but now that I am a seasoned and thoroughly addicted blogger, allow me to borrow a phrase from Patrick Madrid (who now has a blog) - no big whoop!

My site was nominated for Best Religion Blog!

Because here's what really matters:

When a fellow blogger takes the time to give you an award it means much more than some anonymous awards competition. Adoro passed on a Superior Scribbler Award to me and four others, and took the time to say nice things about each of her "awardees." Thank you Adoro - you're the best!!

I must pass this on to 5 people, which I will do shortly. Sooner or later I must get some work done. I don't get paid to blog....

Hormone drives sexy women to infidelity, says study....

Well, this explains it. All these years I thought personal responsibility was part of making a decision to cheat on your spouse.

PARIS (AFP)Women with high levels of a key sex hormone are judged more attractive by themselves and others, and may be more inclined to cheat on their partners, according to a study published Wednesday read more

Surprising Poll Results

So far the results of the poll on the upper left have startled me. I was not expecting to see so many parishes where the people bowed during the Creed (and became man.) We have three Catholic Churches between Post Falls and Coeur d' Alene, and none of the people bow. But no one genuflects to the tabernacle around here either. Maybe I'll make that my next poll......

The poll is still open so take a moment and vote.

Some Good Reads

This time of year, everyone is working on their resolutions. The top of the list is usually, improving our prayer life, getting organizing, losing weight, and on and on.

I found the Gordon MacDonald book, "Ordering Your Private World", in a used book store a number of years ago. Mr. MacDonald is not a Catholic, and is, in fact, a somewhat "disgraced" pastor. I guess some of those crazy hormones got to working on him and he had a marital "slip."

Now that I have that little disclaimer out of the way, allow me to say I enjoyed this book immensely and found it to be a big help. I loaned it to Father Bill who also said he enjoyed it. Not quite an imprimatur, but better than flinging it back in my face while screaming, "you shouldn't read this crap."

I ordered another of his books from Amazon titled, "Renewing Your Spiritual Passion", and also found it quite good. As most of you know, I value simplicity in thought. Some people would call that being stupid, but I believe even the most complex subject can be rendered understandable to the average person if presented by a good teacher. Our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI, is a perfect example of this concept in action.

I can't believe no one has passed around the Superior Doodle Award. Doesn't anyone doodle anymore?

As far as the poll goes, have you noticed nothing is mentioned as to what motivates men to cheat? Is it hormones too?

I doodle like a mad person...it's the only way I can concentrate during a class or lecture...

Right now I'm actually doing a painting of my doodles. Paint what you know....LOL

Congrats on the big whoop, Adrienne.

Interesting you used the term "whoop" just ahead of the topic about infidelity...you know, whoopie and all that ;-)
